quote:Ward happy with half-way position
Carlisle boss John Ward was pleased to beat Port Vale 3-2 as they reached the half-way point in the league season. The Cumbrians are second in League One after taking 42 points from the first 23 of their 46 league games.
"We're half-way through the second and second in the table, so it's time to reflect and say that's been a great effort," Ward enthused. "It will not be easy to emulate what we have just done in the first 23 games, but we're in a terrific position."

Carlisle United have signed midfielder Grant Smith on a short-term deal which runs until the end of the season. The 27-year-old, who recently had a spell with HJK Helsinki, has been training with the Brunton Park side.
Boss John Ward told the club's website: "We still need to get his international clearance through, but everything is agreed".
quote:Dobie leaves Forest for Carlisle
Nottingham Forest forward Scott Dobie has rejoined Carlisle for a nominal fee on a two-and-a-half-year deal. Dobie started his career at Carlisle and made over 150 appearances for the club before joining West Bromwich Albion in 2001. The Scotland international then had a brief spell at Millwall before joining Forest in February 2005.
Under the terms of the agreement Dobie will not be eligible to play against Forest this season.

Boss John Ward told the club website: "He's already stated that he wants to come and play and see if he can help Carlisle United improve.
quote:Carlisle 2-1 Huddersfield
Goals from Danny Livesey and Danny Graham helped Carlisle beat Huddersfield and set a new club record of 10 successive home victories.
The Cumbrians went ahead when Livesey forced home Marc Bridge-Wilkinson's corner at the far post.
Huddersfield went close through headers by Andy Booth and Frank Sinclair.
But Graham fired home from another Bridge-Wilkinson corner and, although Rob Page replied with a powerful volley for Town, Carlisle held on to triumph.

quote:Ward rueing Forest postponement
United manager John Ward believes Tuesday's postponed match with Nottingham Forest at Brunton Park could have gone ahead in hindsight. The match was called off around midday after a pitch inspection but Ward feels the club did enough to ensure the pitch would have been playable at kick-off.
He told BBC Radio Cumbria: "We had the equipment and the manpower and everyone was pulling together to get it on. "With four hours we could have made some success of the pitch."

Carlisle extended their record-breaking run to 13 successive home wins as they beat Brighton thanks to strikes from Danny Graham and Danny Livesey.
Brighton's ex-Carlisle striker Glenn Murray was denied by home goalkeeper Keiren Westwood and hit the post.
But the Cumbrians took the lead as Simon Hackney's was deflected by Graham past Seagulls keeper Michel Kuipers.
Skipper Livesey settled the match on 58 minutes as he hit a first-time shot past Kuipers to make it 2-0.
