Ik hoop op een echt goed verhaal met minder komische 'gespenster' en komische bijrollen, laat het maar een beetje serieus worden met leuke oneliners van de oude cast ofzo

Hij heeft toch ooit gezegd dat hij alleen voor Ghostbusters nog uit retirement terug zou keren? Slimer mag ook wel een cameo hoor.

Wat ik graag zou zien voor de nieuwe film is dat Ghostbusters een enorm succesvolle onderneming is geworden, de originele busters zijn steenrijk geworden, maar worden door de shareholders weggepromoveerd. Ray en Egon slijten hun dagen in een donker lab, Venkman loopt steeds meer bedenkelijke talkshows af om in de publiciteit te blijven en Winston is de enige die nog op straat actief is met de nieuwe garde. Geestactiviteit is hoger dan ooit, maar allemaal maar lage klasse spirits. Pionnen van iets ongelooflijk kwaads dat aan de poorten van onze wereld staat te rammelen, iets waar de nieuwe Ghostbusters dan ook totaal niet opgewassen zijn.

En dan zijn daar natuurlijk Ray, Egon, Venkman, Winston en Tully om 't op te knappen.

Kan niet wachten tot ik Venkman Satan himself zie bashen

Weaver: male roles boosted my career

Speaking ahead of the premiere of the £300m sci-fi film Avatar, Sigourney Weaver says roles for strong women come across like an "angry gym teacher", and it is often easier just to take parts written for men.

The actress also sparked speculation about plans for Ghostbusters 3 by saying she had seen the script and was not averse to being in the new movie.

She told Channel 4 News: “I have taken lots of parts intended for men in the past. Sometimes when writers try to write strong roles for women it comes across like an angry gym teacher.

"So when a woman just gets to play someone who’s good at her job, who is straight forward, they often think that a lot of the work is done for them because they don’t have to re-tool it.

"It’s just a person though. It’s up to me to bring everything to that particular character. I don’t have an axe to grind, it [getting men’s roles] just seems to be one of the ways that I get to be in more films."


Weaver worked with Avatar director James Cameron on Aliens in 1986, and says her ability to keep attracting big roles can be attributed to her attitude to get stuck in.

She told Channel 4 News: "I just have a different perspective, having loved literature so much. If you read great books and plays there are always interesting parts for many ages, and great stories including a lot of older women as well. People know I am up for anything, I’m pretty game.

"I just have this attitude – I started working, off, off Broadway. To me films are still like that experimental feeling, I get so excited about that. I think as I get older I’m more aware of what a privilege it is to work with different generations of actors. If anything it’s my philosophy – with a new job I’m like 'yes'."

Ghostbusters 3 'is happening'


Weaver also confirmed that rumours of her involvement in Ghostbusters 3 were not completely wide of the mark, despite previous comments to the contrary. She revealed potential new details of the planned film which have subsequently caused a stir of excitement on movie websites.

She told Channel 4 News: "I’m afraid to say it [Ghostbusters 3] is happening, I hope people are excited about that. I don’t know if I’m going to be in it, I have had a couple of calls asking ‘would you read the script’.

"I know that my little son Oscar – who was kidnapped from me – I think he has grown up to be a ghostbuster.

"I might be in it; I see nothing wrong with being in it, although I don’t think I will have a big part. I think Bill Murray has a little more to do with it - he’s a ghost."

The other week it was Sigourney Weaver, this week Harold Ramis tells Heeb Magazine that in regards to "Ghostbusters 3", it seems that "something's going to happen" with the project.

"Dan [Aykroyd] did write a spec GB3 screenplay a few years ago, but no one was motivated to pursue it. Now, 25 years after the original, there seems to be some willingness to proceed and apparently a substantial public appetite for a sequel.

We'll introduce some new young Ghostbusters, and all the old guys will be in it, too. Think Christopher Lloyd in Back to the Future...GB3 is progressing with plans to shoot next summer and release in 2011."

Ivan Reitman to Direct 'Ghostbusters 3'!
Good news, everybody! Whilst doing the press line at the National Board of Review's red carpet event, MTV's Josh Horowitz volleyed a series of Ghostbusters 3 questions off of producer Ivan Reitman and ended up getting a nice chunk of actual news instead of further conjecture. When asked about the script, Ivan confirmed that Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky have already turned in a completed draft for part 3 and that a new draft is currently being worked through, much to the delight of all involved. When asked about a potential start date, Ivan revealed that he hopes to start shooting it within the next year.

With this news it looks like what was once assumed to be Ghostbusters for a new generation is instead a reunion for the principals involved with the first two films. Reitman, of course, produced and directed both the 1984 original and it's 1989 sequel, so it's comforting to know that he is now returning over twenty years later for the new film. Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis and Sigourney Weaver are all, barring some kind of cataclysmic, joy-hating turn of events, returning as well (I haven't seen confirmation on Ernie Hudson). And if that's not good enough news, even Rick Moranis is said to be willing to leave retirement to reprise his role as their accountant, Louis Tully!

Given that it has been twenty years since the last Ghostbusters motion picture (the characters have transferred to a handful of other mediums since then, most notably the recent video game made by Atari), I'm sure that Columbia pictures would like the new film to function as a possible gateway for further films, but with Reitman and friends all coming back for it, we can at least rest assured that it won't solely be a passing of the torch.

Oh, and as far as the Bill Murray as a ghost rumor that Sigourney Weaver started is concerned, Ivan Reitman wouldn't comment other than to say that there are some "very cool things in the new draft."

80's cult film staples "Gremlins" and "Ghostbusters" are both looking to get new 3D sequels.

First up MarketSaw reports that a third "Gremlins" film is in the works and will be shot in 3D. The project is a brand new film rather than a 3D retrofit of the original but as it's so early there's no word on who will be penning the script.

The same site also says the previously reported on third "Ghostbusters" film is proceeding as planned, but with 3D now added into the mix.

Lee Eisneberg and Gene Stupnitsky are penning the script.

Veteran producer and director Ivan Reitman ("Dave," "Twins," "Ghostbusters," "Stripes") hit the news twice today regarding his upcoming film schedule.

First up Variety reports he's set to to direct a romantic comedy, currently under the working title "Friends With Benefits", at Paramount Pictures starring Natalie Portman and Ashton Kutcher.

Elizabeth Meriwether's script deals with the ease of men and women to become physically involved and the far more difficult job of emotional attachments. Filming kicks off in May for release the first week of January.

More interesting though is word from Vulture that claims Sony Pictures is essentially trying to shoehorn Reitman out of being involved in the upcoming third "Ghostbusters" film.

Reitman has previously stated an intent to helm the third "Ghostbusters" while Sony is keen on a younger director to take charge. With Reitman committing to 'Friends' they thought they may have won, but Reitman wants to direct both projects.

The big catch in this whole issue is that Reitman's original deal for the franchise back in the 80's gives him an enormous amount of creative control over the project - including director and story approval. In fact if the three principal actors (Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis) don't approve of the film, they have a veto power which can kill the entire production immediately.

Scribes Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky will turn in their second draft of the film's script in May, expect to hear more about this around that time.

Wat een gedoe zeg rond die film.

Ach, als de studio een zak geld voor de neuzen van de heren houdt, stemmen ze toch wel in met de inhoud, hoeven ze er misschien niet eens in mee te spelen.
De studio ziet al dollartekens in de ogen van een succesvolle film(reeks?), waarvan succes in het verleden al gebleken is, dus gaan ze wel overstag.

Overigens hebben de heren destijds in ieder geval goede contracten gesloten.

Talking with GQ Magazine during promotion for "Get Low", a forthright Bill Murray gave refreshingly blunt honest answers to questions about his past work and upcoming projects.

Asked if a third "Ghostbusters" film was still in the works, Murray says "It's all a bunch of crock" and went on to explain:

"Harold Ramis said, Oh, I've got these guys, they write on The Office, and they're really funny. They're going to write the next Ghostbusters. And they had just written this movie that he had directed. "Year One". Well, I never went to see "Year One", but people who did, including other Ghostbusters, said it was one of the worst things they had ever seen in their lives. So that dream just vaporized. That was gone. But it's the studio that really wants this thing. It's a franchise."

Die film moet nu toch godverdomme wel eens komen, zeg.

Net Ghostbusters 2 gezien op tv, toch een stuk grappiger dan ik me kon herinneren, toffe jaren tachtig muziek, ik zeg, roll on number three. Imdb staat nog steeds op 2012..

De muziek is zoveel minder dan de muziek in het eerste deel.
En het bekende thema is erg afwezig.
Ook waren de geesten grappiger gemaakt, terwijl ze in het eerste deel er vaak realistisch uitzagen en enger.

Al met al, mag deel 3 echt wel komen

Oh ja eens natuurlijk, Ghostbusters 1 was duidelijk beter, en van Zool pis ik nog steeds in m'n broek, maar ik vind dat Ghostbusters 2 onterecht is afgekraakt (6.1 op imdb). Bij tijd en wijlen neemt het zichzelf wellicht iets te onserieus, maar een aantal van de grappen zijn echt uitstekend; komischer dan menig comedyfilm die hoger heeft gescoord, en daarnaast heeft Ghostbusters 2 natuurlijk nog meer te bieden.

(de voortdurende potshots op New York bijvoorbeeld, zo klassiek jaren 80, kan nu waarschijnlijk niet meer vanwege 9/11)

You can forget pretty much everything you've ever read about a third "Ghostbusters". Producer/director Ivan Reitman tells Cinema Blend that "virtually everything you’ve read on the internet [about Ghostbusters III] is not accurate."

Reitman also confirms the first full script by Gene Stupnitsky and Lee Eisenberg was only completed a month ago.

Filmmaker Ivan Reitman sat down for an interview with The Hollywood Reporter recently and spoke about the current status of a third "Ghostbusters"

"There's a lot of talk about 'Ghostbusters III.' And there's a very good script that the other cast members have read and liked. We're just waiting for Bill Murray to read it."
