Ik luister niks meer van Sabbath, vanwege Sharon Ozzbourne. Na het truukje met Maiden, wil ik niks meer met die hele familie te maken hebben.

Due to Ozzy's deteriorating physical conditions, Black Sabbath had to cancel several shows during Ozzfest 2005 which were filled in by extra-long sets from British band Iron Maiden. Maiden were well received, although Sharon Osbourne was apparently angered by several onstage comments made by Iron Maiden singer Bruce Dickinson, that she thought were about her family.
Sharon took vengeance and during the San Bernardino, California show (the final one with Iron Maiden, who would hand down their supporting slot to Velvet Revolver for the last 4 shows) arranged for road crews and daughter Kelly to throw eggs and various objects at the performing Iron Maiden. Some second stage bands, Bury Your Dead among others, were also reported to engage. Sharon managed to cut off Iron Maiden's PA at critical moments during their set. Sharon Osbourne then went onstage herself to call Bruce Dickinson a prick. At this point many Maiden fans walked out before Black Sabbath's set. An audio recording of the incident exists, and the performance is widely regarded as one of Iron Maiden's best

Daarbij had niemand van de bandleden er iets mee te maken, Iommi was niet lang daarna zelfs nog bij een Clive Burr evenement aanwezig met een aantal leden van Maiden.

Tony Iommi heeft al die jaren Black Sabbath levende gehouden. Dus volgens mij bedoel je zonder Tony geen Black Sabbath.

Aangezien Iommi de meeste nummers schreef, en Geezer de (meeste) teksten, is het nog altijd Sabbath. En qua zang, ik moet toegeven dat met Osbourne de band wat meer Sabbath klonk dan met Dio. Het enige wat Ozzy aan de band heeft bijgedragen zijn zijn zanglijnen en twee zelf geschreven nummers die buitengewoon onder de maat zijn. Goed zijn zang paste bij de muziek maar hij is niet onvervangbaar; er zijn genoeg andere mensen die niet kunnen zingen en een belabberde frontman uitstraling hebben.
Sterker nog, ik heb nooit een beter Black Sabbath concert gezien dan met Tony Martin als zanger en die is nou niet direct gezegend met een geweldige uitstraling. Maar alles beter dan Ozzy de Clownquote:Op donderdag 1 maart 2007 19:30 schreef Djaser het volgende:

Ik houd écht van het nummer Symptoms of the Universe. Volgens mij niet zo heel bekend, maar wat een geniaal nummer. Ik krijg daar zo'n lekker rock & roll gevoel bij. Vooral die gitaarriff, prachtig.
Goed nummer inderdaad, mooi contrast ook op het laatste. Check ook de Sepultura cover en de verzamelaar waar die opstaat, Nativity In Black #1.

dit is ook tof al hoewel niet officieel.
Bovenstaande lijkt me opzich wel interessant(Falling Of The Edge Of The World, Lady Evil, Lonely Is The Word), maar ik vind de vocalen van Dio wel iets te matig om de dvd aan te schaffen, aangezien ik ook al spijt heb van de aanschaf van DIO - Holy Diver Live.
Heeft iemand hier trouwens Live At Hammersmith Odeon kunnen bemachtigen?

Holy Diver heb ik ook erg negatieve reviews en interviews over gelezen. Volgens mij is Dio hier stukken beter bij stem, ik stoor me niet aan hem.
Holy Diver Live heb ik vooral gekocht doordat er enkele nummers waren(Tarot Woman, Gates Of Babylon) nog nooit live had gehoord, en er geen platen zijn waarop deze live staan bij de oorspronkelijke band. Dezelfde reden als waarom ik die dvd zou kopen, maar dan luister ik liever naar Live Evil, wat mij vocaal en muzikaal wat beter in de oren klinkt dan een huidig concert van H&H(dergelijke nostalgiebands moet je live zien, niet op dvd kijken).quote:Op woensdag 26 september 2007 17:39 schreef Djaser het volgende:

Ik had natuurlijk ook liever een dvd van een optreden uit 1981 gehad maar dat zit er nu eenmaal niet in. Nogmaals, ik vind dit zeker geen slecht alternatief.
Qua materiaal zeker niet, maargoed, meer livewerk '80 zit er niet in(behalve als ze de oplage van Live at Hammersmith Odeon vergroten). Ik ben ook voorstander van Ozzy periode, maar laat mijn favoriete album nu toch Heaven and hell zijn.

LOS ANGELES -- After finishing several heralded world tours as Heaven & Hell last summer, Ronnie James Dio, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler, and Vinny Appice were tighter than ever before, both musically and personally. Agreeing that it would be a shame to stop making music together at tour's end, the quartet began writing, first in England at Iommi's home studio and later in Los Angeles at Dio's studio. "The band had gotten too good to just walk away," Dio says. "We wanted to show people that we were still capable of giving them new music that measured up to what we'd done in the past."
With that goal in mind, the band once again converged on Rockfield Studios in Wales last winter, the same place they used 17 years earlier to record their last album, Dehumanizer. The result is the long awaited new album THE DEVIL YOU KNOW, featuring 10 soon-to-be-classic tracks from the Dio-fronted version of Black Sabbath. The highly anticipated set arrives on April 28 from Rhino for a suggested list price of $18.98 (physical) and $9.99 (digital).
It took less than three weeks to finish the album, with most of the songs only needing a couple of takes. "It was good to play them live in the studio. It keeps you on edge," Iommi says. "I mean, somewhere along the line we were gonna have to play them live; might as well start in the studio." Butler adds: "We've learned from the past that you can kill a song doing it over and over. The first Sabbath albums were done in two or three days. Technically they weren't great, but vibe-wise they were great. If you capture that feeling, that's all you need."
"Bible Black," the epic first single, begins with Iommi on acoustic guitar behind Dio's plaintive wail before the rhythm shifts to a menacing stomp for the rest of this dark tale about a book of sinister scriptures. One of the first songs written for the album, Dio says it established a tone for the rest of the album. "When you start off with a blockbuster like that, it makes the rest of the album so much easier because it gives you a benchmark to measure the other songs against."
Iommi proves he hasn't lost the ability to inspire six-string envy, unleashing riffs like a pack of rabid hellhounds on "Atom And Evil," "Fear," "Neverwhere," and "Eating The Cannibals," a tune about doing more than biting the hand that feeds. Butler and Appice slow the pace while ramping up the intensity on "Follow The Tears" and "Double The Pain" and "Breaking Into Heaven," the latter diverging from its glacial procession for Dio's majestic chorus about fallen angels planning an attack on paradise.
