London 29th October - On November 15th the most famous pop star on the planet Michael Jackson will be honoured with the Diamond Award at the worlds most international music award ceremony – the World Music Awards. This year London has the honour of hosting this spectacular extravaganza in its 18th year. In the UK, C4 will broadcast the special on Wednesday, November 22nd.

International celebrities from the world of film, fashion, TV and sports will present the awards to the recording-artists who will perform live before an audience of stars, the world’s media and thousands of music fans.

Lindsay Lohan will host the show hot from her recent success as MC of Saturday Night Live on the NBC network; performing artists include Beyonce who will be opening the show with a scintillating performance of DeJa Vu. Mary J Blige will be receiving a legend award for her Outstanding Contribution to R & B Music and will be performing a medley of her greatest hits. The latest R & B sensation Rihanna will be performing S.O.S. Katie Melua; best selling European female artist of the year will also be performing along with classical heartthrob Andrea Bocelli, DJ sensation Bob Sinclair, and Britain’s best dance trip hop group Faithless. Gwen Stefani and Nelly Furtado due to be announced shortly along with other major international artists………watch this space!

Michael Jackson will be appearing on stage as part of a spectacular tribute to Thriller. 2006 marks the 25th anniversary of Thriller the world’s best selling album of all time. Thriller, produced by Quincy Jones, has sold over 50 million albums around the globe since its release in December 1982. Thriller has changed the landscape of pop music and has continued to capture the hearts and inspire people all over the world. The World Music Awards will honour Michael and his unrivalled contribution to music by honouring him with the prestigious and much coveted Diamond Award. The Diamond Award was created to honour artists who have sold over 100 million albums, which for any act is an incredible achievement. It is an award that is not presented every year because it is only for music royalty and who better to receive it than the undisputed King of Pop. Past recipients of the Diamond Award include Rod Stewart, Mariah Carey, Bon Jovi and Celine Dion.

Ik kan het me echt niet voorstellen. Wat zou hij moeten doen dan? Een medley van hits? Billie Jean? Hmm.. moeilijk hoor.

- Medley van een paar nummers (zoals hij wel eens vaker heeft gedaan)
- Beat It refreintje met 'het dans-stukje' erbij (een minuutje ofzo)
- Whatever Happens samen met Santana (krachtig, mooi nummer van z'n 'nieuwste' album)
- Billie Jean

Hoe vet zou dit toch zijn? OMG.. Ik kan het me niet voorstellen. Gewoon ff een kwartiertje performen. Net zoals Prince dat deed, op bijvoorbeeld de Brits Awards, of de Grammy Awards '04. Zo vet.
