Lijntoestel neergestort in Kentucky

WASHINGTON - Een lijntoestel met ongeveer vijftig inzittenden is zondag neergestort in de Amerikaanse staat Kentucky.
Volgens de Amerikaanse nieuwszender CNN crashte het toestel kort nadat het van het vliegveld in Lexington was opgestegen voor een vlucht naar Atlanta.

(CNN) -- A Delta commuter flight -- en route from Lexington, Kentucky, to Atlanta, Georgia -- crashed just after take-off from Blue Grass Airport on Sunday, and airlines and airport officials reported "multiple fatalities."
Federal Aviation Administration officials said Delta Flight 5191 -- which was operated by Delta's commuter carrier, Comair -- crashed around 7 a.m. ET in a wooded area about a mile from the Lexington airport on its way to Atlanta's Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport.
At least 50 people were aboard the flight and it is not known if anyone survived, the officials said.
Delta Flight 5191 was scheduled to land at Atlanta's Hartsfield-Jackson Airport at 7:18 a.m.
The aircraft was a Bombardier Canadian Regional Jet (CRJ) 100, FAA officials said.
The cause of the crash is under investigation. There were no reports of bad weather in the Lexington area.

Volgens CNN is er een man die de crash overleefd heeft, maar in kritieke toestand in the ziekenhuis ligt.

Best lullig, piloot vergist zich in de net ge-asfalteerde runway... Hij neemt dus de nieuwe ipv de oude die de heflt van de normale runway is en stallled zijjn CRJ dik. (te weinig snelheid, te snel klimmen)
Best kut als je erachter komt na V1 dat de runway (dan kan je al amper afbreken, na V2 zeker niet1) tekort is en er bomen in de buurt staan.... De first officer heeft het overleeft, maar of hij het gaat overleven is de vraag.
Lijkt me vooralsnog een blunder van de piloot en de ATC... Misschien oordeel ik te vroeg.

Lanter confirmed that the crash site was at the end of runway 26 but would not speculate from which runway the flight took off.
