De OP The Lamborghini Bravo was unveiled by Bertone at the 1974 Turin Auto Show as a fully-functional concept vehicle.
Based on mechanical components from the P300 Urraco, the Bravo was supposed to go into production as a "baby-Miura" - as it was called in the preliminary project: for this reason it was extensively tested (more than 40.000 miles) before the launch.
In the tradition of the brand, the name "Bravo" came from a breed of Spanish fighting bulls.
Unfortunately, during those years Lamborghini ran into economical crisis. By 1974 Ferruccio Lamborghini had sold his shares and the Bravo project was finally cancelled.
Today the Lamborghini Bravo prototype is on display at Bertone's private Museum.
1974 Lamborghini BravoDesign
The Bravo was known at Bertone as "Study 114", and its design process saw the partecipation of Marcello Gandini, who created the effect of continuity of the windshield and side windows by using dark glasses and hiding the A-pillars.
Other innovative stylistic elements were the rectangular air intakes featured on the front and rear hoods.
The Bravo proportions made it an extremely compact coupé: the total length was just 3775 mm and it was only 1000 mm high.
This caused the interior cabin to be too tight for tall people. The seats were finished in Alcatara cloth.
The magnesium wheels had an innovative design that would be adopted on the later Countach.
