Opzet:
"RJP voor Dummies" is een spin off van Raad-je-Plaatje (RJP), het succesnummer van C&H. Ooit begonnen door Seborik, toen Yvonne hier de scepter zwaaide.
"RJP voor Dummies" is een poging om die oorspronkelijke bedoeling van het spelletje weer in ere te herstellen, zonder verder afbreuk te doen aan Raad-je-Plaatje. Een vergeefse poging is het zeker niet gebleken, gezien de grote populariteit van RJP voor Dummies.
Al spoedig gooide RJPvdD hogere ogen dan het origineel (RJP) op het wat reacties betreft tot dan toe kwakkelende C&H forum.
Wat we doen is dus een plaatje zetten, vragen stellen en dan zonder gebruik te maken van mighty Google de naam van het personage raden. De echte diehards in deze tak van sport kunnen dan mee blijven doen met Raad-je-Plaatje en het lekker knus houden. De dommere mensen, onder wie ik mezelf eigenlijk niet reken (maar enfin), kunnen dan hier terecht in "RJP voor Dummies".
Tussen plaatjes door kan je het feuilleton 'Avonturen in de Fok!straat' lezen.

Direct na de bekendmaking van de voorlopige uitslag van de MEN-verkiezing is er een opstand gekomen op het Fok!Forum.
De beslissing van het partijkader heeft de mensen gemobiliseerd en zijn massaal de straat op getrokken. Men was tevreden met MEN, maar het overhevelen van sommige levenswerken van de meest actieve users viel totaal verkeerd.
Presidente Yvonne sprak het publiek nog toe, maar dat was te laat. De roepen om hervorming overstemde haar toespraak.
'Leve de spelletjes.' was de meest gehoorde kreet. Dissident Mike koos eieren voor zijn geld en zocht de zijde van de mensen op de straat. Ook Mitt, Bluezz en alle Muziekmodjes kozen de zijde van het proletariaat. De opstandige modjes werden met open armen ontvangen door de users van het leukste forum van Nederland.
De verkiezingsuitslag wordt inmiddels ook in andere sub-forums betwist en de partijlleden beraden zich over nadere stappen.
Vooral in het Cultuur & Historie forum was de adhesie voor de dissidenten zo massaal dat het opperkader de minder toerekeningsvatbare modjes tot de orde heeft geroepen.
Sommige forums die zich eerder al solidair toonden met de users werden bejubeld in de straten.
De naam van Yvonne wordt nog steeds uitgeschreeuwd.
Morgen zal de uitslag nogmaals worden bekeken door een internationale delegatie. Maar alles wijst er op dat het de kant van de users uit zal gaan.

Bonds is generally considered to be among the greatest players of all time, although his achievements have been marred by his role in a MLB steroids scandal. He has won a record seven MVP awards over the course of his career, the majority of which were awarded during what would have been the waning years of a typical player's career. Statistically speaking, Bonds is typically regarded as one of the best hitters in the history of the game. He is the only player in baseball history to have hit at least 500 home runs and stolen at least 500 bases (no other player has reached even 400-400). Additionally, Bonds has won eight Gold Glove Awards for his defensive prowess in left field, and he is a 13 time All-Star.
Bonds has generally been known as reclusive in the clubhouse, and is not a favorite with the media. Teammates often pointedly remark that they do not have any conversations with Bonds. In addition to his problematic relations with the media, Bonds has become the most frequent target of the anti-steroids backlash that has hit Major League Baseball in recent years.

Background
The son of former All-Star Bobby Bonds, Bonds was born in Riverside, California and graduated in 1983 from Junipero Serra High School (San Mateo, California), excelling in baseball, basketball, and football. Although originally drafted by the San Francisco Giants (the team with which he would later star), Bonds chose to go to college first, playing baseball at Arizona State University. He began his major league career in 1986 with the Pittsburgh Pirates, who selected him with the 6th overall pick in the 1985 draft. In 1993, Bonds left the Pirates to sign a lucrative free agent contract (worth a then-record $43.75 million over six years) with the Giants, with whom his father spent the first seven years of his career.
Bonds' uncanny combination of speed and power in the early and middle stages of his career recalled his father's abilities, though it is generally held that Barry is an even more talented player than Bobby was. In addition to his famous father, Bonds has an outstanding athletic pedigree: Baseball Hall of Famer Willie Mays is his godfather; Reggie Jackson, another Hall of Famer, is his distant cousin. His aunt, Rosie Bonds, finished 8th in the Women's 80-meter hurdles (extended to 100-meter hurdles in 1971) at the 1964 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan.
Achievements
In Sports Illustrated (June 5, 2000), then-Giant Shawon Dunston said of his teammate Bonds, "He's not going to hit 70 homers, but he believes he can. That's frightening." The next year, Bonds set the single-season home run record, hitting 73 to break Mark McGwire's 70-homer mark set in 1998. Some analysts consider Bonds' 2001 performance among the greatest hitting seasons in history; besides the home run record, he set single-season marks for walks (177) and slugging percentage (.863) (topping Ruth's records of 170 and .847, set in 1923 and 1920, respectively).
In 2002, Bonds did not repeat his 73-homer feat, belting only 46 long balls. Bonds bettered his own record for walks with 199, which contributed greatly to a .582 on-base percentage, breaking Ted Williams' 1941 record of .551. He also won the National League batting title with a .370 average, becoming the oldest player to win the honor for the first time. In 2004, he won his second batting title with a .362 average. He also broke two of his own records: OPS, with 1.422, and on-base percentage, with a staggering .609 mark -- the only time a player has bettered .600 over a full season. He also slugged .812, only the second time in history that a player has bettered .800 twice. Babe Ruth was the other, with .847 and .846 in 1920 and 1921, respectively.
Bonds has been voted the National League's Most Valuable Player a record seven times: in 1990, 1992, 1993, 2001, 2002, 2003, and 2004. He is the first player in baseball history to be named MVP in three (much less four) consecutive years, and no other player has won the award more than three times. Bonds also finished second in the voting for the award on two occasions: in 1991, to Terry Pendleton of the Atlanta Braves; and in 2000, to then-teammate Jeff Kent. He also had a fourth-place MVP vote in 1994, and two fifth-place finishes, in 1996 and 1997.
Bonds received at least some MVP votes in 15 consecutive seasons, from 1990 to 2004, tying with Yogi Berra for the second-longest streak after Hank Aaron's 19. (Ted Williams received MVP votes in every season of his 19-year career, but his streak was interrupted twice by wartime service.)
During the 2002 season, Bonds became the fourth man to hit 600 career home runs, and he also set the record for most home runs hit in a single post-season (8). Bonds hit .471 with 4 home runs and 13 walks (seven intentional) in the World Series, thereby slugging 1.294 with a .700 on-base percentage. All but the batting average were World Series records, but Bonds' Giants lost to the Anaheim Angels, four games to three. Before the historic outburst of 2002, Bonds had hit poorly in the postseason, batting .195 with one home run and six RBI in 27 playoff games, as his teams lost five straight series.
Bonds' eight Gold Glove awards as an outfielder are the third-most ever for that position. He has been named to thirteen National League All-Star teams, in 1990, 1992-1998, and 2000-2004.
Bonds became the first 400-400 player (400 home runs and 400 stolen bases) on August 23, 1998, when he hit home run number 400 off of Florida's Kirt Ojala. He had stolen his 400th base on July 26, 1997 against the Pittsburgh Pirates at Candlestick Park. On June 23, 2003, Bonds recorded his 500th stolen base in the eleventh inning of a game against the Los Angeles Dodgers at Pacific Bell Park. Bonds later scored the winning run. By chance, his ailing father Bobby was in attendance that night. With 633 career home runs at the time, Bonds became the first 500-500 player in baseball history, already the only member of the 400-400 club. Additionally, in 1996 Bonds became the second of the three current members of the so-called "40-40 club", signifying 40 home runs and 40 stolen bases in one season. The other two members are José Canseco and Alex Rodriguez.
Bonds is among the many power hitters of recent vintage who "crowd the plate", standing in such a way that his body is almost over the plate (and thus closer to the strike zone, allowing his bat to cover more of the plate when he swings). In 2001, because of Bonds and others like Mo Vaughn (each of whom wear large padded elbow protectors when batting), Major League Baseball instructed umpires to call a slightly different strike zone, calling more high inside pitches strikes. The new regulations also banned hitters from using hard protective gear apart from helmets (e.g., hard elbow or chest guards), which enabled them to get closer to the plate. MLB officials ruled, however, that Bonds could continue to sport his own particular elbow guard, due to medical reasons.
On April 12, 2004, Bonds hit his 660th home run, tying him with his godfather Willie Mays for 3rd on the all-time career home run list in a game against the Milwaukee Brewers at SBC Park. Larry Ellison caught the home run and returned it to Bonds. He hit his 661st home run at the same venue the next day, placing him in outright third behind Babe Ruth (714) and Hank Aaron (755). Ellison also caught number 661, but kept it for himself with Bonds's blessing. (Ellison was in a kayak in McCovey Cove, an arm of San Francisco Bay that lies behind the right-field stands at SBC Park, so this wasn't quite the amazing coincidence it appears at first sight.)
On July 4, 2004, Bonds passed Rickey Henderson to take the all-time lead in career walks, drawing his 2191st free pass. Later in 2004, he broke his own single-season record for walks, becoming the first player with over 200 in a season and ending the season with 232. His total of 232 walks was 105 more than the next closest leader, Lance Berkman, Todd Helton, and Bobby Abreu who all had 127. Included in Bonds' 2004 total were 120 intentional walks, the most issued since MLB began recording them separately in 1954.
Bonds also has the second- and third-highest single-season intentional walk totals, with 68 in 2002 and 61 in 2003. He has been the league leader in the category for 13 of the past 14 seasons. Oddly, though, he did not lead in 2001, when he hit a record 73 home runs, finishing with 35. Sammy Sosa led the NL with 37.
Bonds holds almost every major league record in existence for intentional walks: four in a nine-inning game (2004), 120 in a season (2004) and 604 in his career (more than the next two players on the all-time list, Hank Aaron and Willie McCovey, combined). Bonds is an easy candidate for the intentional walk, though some have argued that his opponents' obsession with pitching around him borders on the irrational. Still, the Giants have afforded Bonds little in the way of lineup "protection" in recent years, making the incentive to issue him a free pass even greater. In the first month of the 2004 season, Bonds drew 43 walks, 22 of them intentional. He broke his previous record of 68 intentional walks, set in 2002, on July 10, 2004 in his last appearance before the All-Star break. On May 28, 1998, Bonds became one of only four players in major league history to be intentionally walked with the bases loaded, when the Arizona Diamondbacks elected to give up a run and face catcher Brent Mayne instead.
On September 17, 2004, Bonds hit his 700th home run off San Diego Padres pitcher Jake Peavy in San Francisco and became only the third man to achieve the 700 home run plateau.
Resurgence
In 1999, with only statistics through 1997 being considered, Bonds ranked Number 34 on The Sporting News' list of the 100 Greatest Baseball Players, making him the highest-ranking active player (next-best was Greg Maddux at Number 39), while Ken Griffey Jr. came in at Number 93. When the Sporting News list was redone in 2005, Bonds jumped up 28 spaces to Number 6 All Time, behind only Babe Ruth, Willie Mays, Ty Cobb, Walter Johnson, and Hank Aaron. However, while Bonds was nominated as a finalist for the Major League Baseball All-Century Team that year, Griffey was actually elected to it. That same year, baseball historian and sabermetrician Bill James wrote of Bonds, "Certainly the most un-appreciated superstar of my lifetime... Griffey has always been more popular, but Bonds has been a far, far greater player." As of 1999, James rated Bonds as the 16th best player of all time, even though his career was far from complete. "When people begin to take in all of his accomplishments," James predicted, "Bonds may well be rated among the five greatest players in the history of the game."
Throughout the decade of the 1990s, Bonds was an exceptionally patient hitter and a great slugger who stole bases and played Gold Glove defense. Bill James ranked Bonds as the best player of the 1990s, noting that his selection for the 1990s' 2nd-best player (Craig Biggio) had been closer in production to the decade's 10th-best player than he was to Bonds.
By the year 2000 Bonds was regarded as a surefire Hall of Famer, but it was in the beginning of the next millennium -- at the age of 37 -- when Bonds would surpass his peers and reach a level of offensive production that only a select few in the history of the game have achieved. Along with Bonds' resurgence, however, the home run hitting accomplishments of the previous decade had begun to receive a retroactive hostility. Many now criticize the homerun records set in the Steroid Era and argue that baseball players alleged to have used steroids should be penalized, with their records marked as "questionable" and their eligibility for the Hall of Fame rejected. Bonds, with his setting of the single-season home run record and his pursuit of the all-time Major League record for home runs, has become the most common target of anti-steroid criticism.
2005 injury problems
On March 22, 2005, Bonds announced that he could be sidelined for the rest of the 2005 season because of surgery on his knee. At the press conference, Bonds also indicated that he was frustrated by the focus on his alleged steroid use and the negative portrayal of him in the media. Later, Bonds sounded positive about his rehabilitation and told fans at the Opening Day festivities, "I will be back!" The chances of Bonds' return to the playing field were covered relentlessly throughout the summer by ESPN, in anticipation of potentially unprecedented scrutiny by the media and baseball fans (baseball had toughened its steroid-testing program since Bonds had last played). On May 4, Bonds revealed on his website that he had undergone a third arthroscopic knee surgery because of a bacterial infection in his knee. This setback led many to assume that Bonds would not play in the 2005 season, and in the process raised much speculation as to whether Hank Aaron's career home run record of 755 would ultimately be out of Bonds' reach.
On August 1, in an interview with MLB.com, Bonds stated that he would most likely not return before the end of the 2005 season, due to continued buildup of fluid in the knee. On August 5, though, he stated on his website that while he was unsure of his status, he remained optimistic. In September, Bonds started working out with the team while they were in Los Angeles to play the Dodgers. On September 10, the Giants announced that Bonds would be activated on September 12. He was indeed activated that day, and immediately returned to being a starter in left field. In his return against the San Diego Padres, he nearly hit a home run in his first at-bat, but the ball was ruled to be only a double due to fan interference. Bonds finished the night 1-for-4 with a double. Upon his return, Bonds mostly continued his pre-injury dominance at the plate, hitting home runs in four consecutive games from September 18 to September 21 and finishing with five in only 14 games.
2006 season
A sign counts down to Barry Bonds' 714th home runOn February 19, 2006, Bonds announced in an interview with USA Today that he plans on retiring at the conclusion of the 2006 season, with or without the all-time home run record. "I've never cared about records anyway," Bonds said, "so what difference does it make? I'm not playing baseball anymore after this. The game (isn't) fun anymore. I'm tired of all of the crap going on. I want to play this year out, hopefully win, and once the season is over, go home and be with my family. Maybe then everybody can just forget about me." Bonds also claimed in his interview that he wasn't as athletic as he used to be.[1] However, the next day, Bonds softened his stance and said he would perhaps play in the 2007 season if his knee improved.[2]
On March 9, 2006, after his first game of the preseason with the San Francisco Giants, Bonds said that he would know around the All-Star Break and in a time period ranging from July to August 2006, whether or not he would be returning for the 2007 MLB season.
Bonds started the 2006 season with a slump. Bonds hit under .200 for his first 10 games of the season. Bonds didn't hit a home run until April 22nd, it was his biggest home run slump since the 1998 season.
Many speculate that after he passes Ruth in home runs, he will hang it up, based on this quote from an interview in 2003:
755 isn't a number that's always caught my eye -- the only number I'm concerned with is Babe Ruth's. As a left-handed hitter, I wiped him out. That's it. And in the baseball world, Babe Ruth's everything, right? I got his (single season) slugging percentage, I got him on on-base, I got him on walks and then I'll take his (lifetime) home run record and that's it. Don't talk about him no more.
In a recent interview with MLB.com, Bonds stated that his knee may not hold up much longer, and that catching Aaron's 755 homeruns is unlikely. When asked if he thought he would catch Aaron, his exact words were "Heck no".
Chasing the all-time home run record
On May 7, 2006, Bonds drew within one home run of tying Babe Ruth for second place, hitting his 713th career home run into the second level of Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia, off pitcher Jon Lieber in an ESPN nationally-televised game in which the Giants lost to the Philadelphia Phillies. The towering home run, which was one of the longest in Citizens Bank Park's two season history, traveling an estimated 450 feet, hit off the facade of the third deck in right field and was Bonds' first pulled home run of the 2006 season. Curiously, and perhaps revealingly, the jeers from the Philadelphia crowd that had haunted Bonds earlier that night turned noticeably into cheers as he completed his swing, watched the flight of the ball, rounded the bases, and touched home plate, all this to flashbulbs exploding everywhere throughout the stands. The mixed and often paradoxical reaction to Bonds' impending achievement exemplifies the polarizing effect of his controversial career on baseball aficionados and casual observers alike.
On May 20, 2006, Bonds tied Ruth, hitting his 714th career home run to deep right field to lead off the top of the 2nd inning with a 1-1 count. The home run came off of left handed pitcher Brad Halsey of the Oakland A's, in an interleague game played in Oakland, California at the McAfee Coliseum (formerly known as the Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum or the Oakland Coliseum). Since this was an interleague game at an American League stadium, Bonds was batting as the designated hitter in the cleanup spot in the lineup for the Giants. The Bamino's 714 mark was tied by Bonds who hits left handed, the pitcher Halsey pitches left handed, and the fan who caught it is left handed; all this to tie arguably the best left handed hitter in history.

Ari Olivier
Ari Olivier (geboren 20 augustus 1939), ook bekend onder de naam "Heer Olivier", is in Duitsland veroordeeld voor het organiseren van een vals-geldtransactie.
Olivier was een handelaar, (naar eigen zeggen) oplichter en geheim agent voor de BVD, de huidige AIVD. Ari Olivier wordt ook wel "de meesteroplichter" of "de aartsvader van alle Nederlandse meesteroplichters" genoemd. Hij woont in Nieuw-Vennep.
Hij is actief sinds de jaren zestig of de jaren zeventig. Hij wordt verantwoordelijk geacht voor oplichting voor ongeveer 1 miljard gulden (+/- 450 miljoen euro).
Op 15 april 1997 werd hij gearresteerd in Frankfurt am Main in Duitsland, wegens het organiseren van een transactie in vals geld (US dollars) voor derden. Vanaf 1997 moest hij in Duitsland een gevangenisstraf van vier jaar uitzitten.
Ook is Ari Olivier vijf maal gehuwd, de laatste keer (reeds 9 jaar geleden) met mevrouw Malgorzata Anna Rutkowski. Daarvoor leefde hij 22 jaar als vrijgezel.
Ari Olivier is sedert februari 1996 directeur van de Gooische Vastgoed Kombinatie B.V. en houdt zich voornamelijk bezig met handel in en aankoop van kunst, speciaal schilderijen.
Vanaf 3 april 1997 presenteerde bij het Veronica televisieprogramma "Heer Olivier's wereld", over oplichtingspraktijken. Veronica beëindigde dit programma al na drie afleveringen na Olivier's arrestatie in Duitsland.
Ari Olivier is geboren op 20 augustus 1939 en dus gepensioneerd voor de AOW.

Background
In the early days of Rock and Roll, the notion of the lead guitarist as the charismatic figure in the spotlight was completely novel. Duane Eddy moved the guitar player front and center. Quiet and unassuming offstage, he cut an indelible figure with an electric guitar in his hands. Some say Duane was the first American Rock and Roll hero. His was a classic pose that defined the cool iconography of what it means to be a Rock and Roller.
Early life and education
Born in Corning, New York, in 1938, he began playing at age five, emulating his cowboy hero, Gene Autry. The family moved west to Phoenix, Arizona, in the early 1950s. At 16 Duane quit school, got his first Gretsh guitar and started playing in local clubs. In 1957 Duane met his longtime partner, co-writer and producer, Lee Hazlewood, a local disk jockey. Lee helped Duane get his first recording contract. Together, they created a successful formula based upon Duane's unique approach to his instrument, and Lee's experimental vision in the recording studio, and have been referred to as “one of the greatest hit-making machines of the Rock and Roll era.”
Style THE TWANG
As one of the most famous guitarists in the years from 1958 to 1963 Eddy was the man who added a new term to the American music dictionary - TWANG. The sound he created was easily identifiable and uniquely his own. Tuning his six string down an octave, combining strong, dramatic, single-note melodies on the top strings, while bending the low strings through a combination of echoes, he produced a signature sound that was unlike anything yet heard - the sound that would be featured on an unprecedented string of thirty-four chart singles, fifteen of which made the top fourty and sales of over 100 million worldwide. Early in his career Eddy was interviewed by John Fogery of Musician magazine about the TWANG. Fogerty called it '"big" both in a sense of it being new and the actual sound qulity itself. Eddy told Fogerty, "I knew we had to have something big... We did go for a big sound. I have to give alot of credit to Lee Hazelwood. He mixed things for AM radio in those days so that they would come rockin' out of the radio."
Elements of country, blues, jazz and Gospel infused his instrumentals. They had evocative titles like, Rebel Rouser, Forty Miles of Bad Road, Cannonball, The Lonely One, Shazam, and Some Kinda Earthquake. They were filled with rebel yells and brilliant sax breaks. The worldwide popularity of these records, beginning with Moovin' and Groovin’ in 1958, broke open the doors for Rock and Roll instrumental music. In 1958 Rebel Rouser went gold. Dick Clark invited Eddy to appear on American Bandstand, where Duane introduced his next hit Ramrod. By the following Tuesday there were orders for 250,000 copies and the legend was on his way. His band, The Rebels, featured musicians who were to become some of the world's best-known session players. Sax players Steve Douglas and Jim Horn, and pianist Larry Knechtel, have been heard on hundreds of hit records, becoming members of the famous "Wrecking Crew" of Phil Spector in the 1960s, and touring with a very elite group of artists through the years.
Success
The early 60's were a blur of touring and recording, with an astonishing amount of work being released. In 1960 Musical Express voted him Number One Pop Personality. That same year he split with Lee Hazelwood and started producing on his own. Duane and Lee did team up again in 1962 to produce Dance With The Guitar Man which reached number 12 on the US charts In the US Duane's popularity waned after 1963 but he remained very popular in Egland and continued his touring there and lived there for three years. Eddy constantly broke new ground, producing over 25 albums spanning a broad range of themes. At the height of the Rock and Roll era, he recorded an album of completely acoustic music, Songs Of Our Heritage, the first "unplugged" project, so to speak. There were orchestral projects, Big Band sounds of the 1940s, and an album of songs written by Bob Dylan, who, years later, would write, “For sure my lyrics had struck nerves that had never been struck before, but if my songs were just about the words, then what was Duane Eddy, the great rock-and-roll guitarist, doing recording an album full of instrumental melodies of my songs?” During the 60s Eddy launched an acting career, starring in the movie Thunder of Drums and the television series Have Gun Will Travel.
Album production
The 1970s were equally busy for Duane. He produced album projects for Phil Everly and Waylon Jennings. In 1975 a collaboration with hit songwriter Tony Macaulay led to a worldwide top ten record, Play Me Like You Play Your Guitar. The single record, You Are My Sunshine, featuring Willie Nelson and Waylon Jennings, hit the country charts in 1977.
An amazing group of legendary players hit the road in early 1983, showing up at small, intimate clubs. Friends of Duane's, some old, some new, had put this band together wanting to give the fans a chance to hear him in a unique setting - Don Randi on keyboards, Hal Blaine on drums, Steve Douglas on sax, and to Duane's pleasant surprise, Ry Cooder on guitar. Needless to say, this group rocked, and the lines around the blocks and the superb reviews said it all. Duane Eddy was back, and a whole new generation of fans was listening.
In 1986, Duane recorded with Art of Noise, a collaboration that brought a new twist to his 1960 best seller, Peter Gunn. The song was an instant Top Ten hit around the world, ranking #1 on Rolling Stone Magazine's dance chart for six weeks that summer. As further confirmation of it's success, Peter Gunn won The Grammy for Best Rock Instrumental of 1986.
The following year, a new album, the self-titled, Duane Eddy, was released on Capitol. As a tribute to his influence and inspiration to so many young players, a crowd of unbelievable talent came along to be a part of this project. Tracks were produced by Paul McCartney, Jeff Lynne, Ry Cooder, Art of Noise, and Duane. The "band" included John Fogerty, George Harrison, Paul McCartney, Ry Cooder, James Burton, David Lindley, Steve Cropper, and original Rebels, Larry Knechtel and Jim Horn.
In the spring of 1994, Duane Eddy's place in our musical history was etched in stone at his induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, alongside fellow artists Elton John, Rod Stewart, John Lennon, Bob Marley and The Grateful Dead. Later that year, film soundtracks introduced Duane Eddy's music to millions as they watched Forrest Gump being chased by a pickup truck full of rednecks, running into his football career to the sound of Rebel Rouser. Oliver Stone's Natural Born Killers used The Trembler, a track written by Duane and Ravi Shankar, to help create a spine-chilling scene set against a violent thunderstorm in the desert.
In more recent film work, Duane joined Academy Award winning composer Hans Zimmer on the soundtrack of Broken Arrow, starring John Travolta. Duane’s unique guitar sound was first choice to be the “voice” for the villain’s theme. To quote Mr. Zimmer, "I always thought that Duane's style was being ripped off by the spaghetti westerns. This time I got the real thing". The appeal of this theme, a dark moody piece, caused it to be used, once again, in an altogether different kind of film - director Wes Craven's incredibly successful Scream 2.
2004 began on a high note with the introduction of the new Gibson Duane Eddy Signature Model guitar, built to Duane’s specifications by the Gibson Custom Art and Historic Division. Later that year, he was presented with the Guitar Player Magazine "Legend Award, having the distinction of being only the second recipient, the first having been presented to Duane's own guitar hero, the brilliant Les Paul.
Asked by Musician 'how he felt about influencing generations of musicians, Eddy commented that it "is an unexpected bonus. It makes me feel more important than I otherwise would. It's a confirmation, many years later, that it was the right thing. And we had no way of knowing at the time. We got confirmation in the fact that the records were hits. That's the first big joy. But after it dies down... Then suddenly somebody comes along and says, 'You started me in the business.'"

Charlotte attended the Clergy Daughter's School at Cowan Bridge in 1824. She returned home next year because of the harsh conditions. In 1831 she went to school at Roe Head, where she later worked as a teacher. However, she fell ill, suffered from melancholia, and gave up this post. Charlotte's attempts to earn her living as a governess were hindered by her disabling shyness, her ignorance of normal children, and her yearning to be with her sisters.
The collection of poems, Poems By Currer, Ellis And Acton Bell (1846), which Charlotte wrote with her sisters, sold only two copies. By this time she had finished a novel; THE PROFESSOR, but it never found a publisher during her lifetime. Undeterred by this rejection, Charlotte began Jane Eyre, which appeared in 1847 and became an immediate success. Charlotte dedicated the book to William Makepeace Thackeray. The heroine is a penniless orphan who becomes a teacher, obtains a post as a governess, inherits money from an uncle, and marries the Byronic hero in the end.
Branwell and Emily died in 1848 and Anne died the following year. Although her identity was now well known, Charlotte continued to publish as Currer Bell. Jane Eyre was followed by Shirley (1848) and Vilette (1853). In Jane Eyre Charlotte used her experiences at the Evangelical school and as governess. The novel severely criticized the limited options open to educated but impoverished women. The title character from Shirley was an attempted ideal portrait of Emily. . Shirley was one of the first fully developed independent, brave, outspoken heroines in English literature.
In 1854 Charlotte Bronte married her father's curate, Arthur Bell Nicholls. She died during her pregnancy on March 31, 1855 in Haworth, Yorkshire. The Professor was posthumously published in 1857.

Reinhardt werd geboren in Liberchies, een dorp in de Belgische gemeente Pont-à-Celles (Henegouwen), en werd daar op 28 januari gedoopt. Het dorp lag destijds op de grens van drie gemeenten (Liberchies, Luttre en Buzet) en zou door de Sinti zijn gekozen omdat ze hun woonwagens dan gemakkelijk naar een andere gemeente konden verplaatsen als ze dreigden te worden uitgewezen. De familie trok door Frankrijk, Corsica en Noord-Afrika en Reinhardt groeide tenslotte op in een woonwagenkamp bij Parijs. Samen met zijn jongere broer leerde hij gitaar, banjo en viool spelen zonder ooit muzieklessen te volgen. Django leerde zelfs nooit lezen of schrijven.Toen ze nog tieners waren traden ze op in Parijs en namen deel aan de Bals musette. In 1928 ontmoet hij Louis Vola, die enkele jaren later lid zou worden van zijn kwintet. In datzelfde jaar nam hij ook zijn eerste plaat op. In de winter van 1928 raakte Reinhardt (18) bij een brand in zijn woonwagen, zwaargewond. De hele linkerzijde van zijn lichaam was zwaar verbrand en zijn linkerbeen moest geamputeerd worden. De bijgelovige Django weigerde dit pertinent. Door zijn linkerhand - waarbij de pink, ringvinger en middelvinger verlamd en misvormd waren - leek gitaarspelen aanvankelijk onmogelijk. Zijn broer bracht toch een gitaar naar zijn ziekenkamer en met veel volharding - Django verbleef nagenoeg twee jaar in het ziekenhuis - leerde hij zichzelf opnieuw spelen. Zijn handicap heeft hem -zo bleek achteraf - niet verhinderd om alsnog een van de grootste gitaarvirtuozen te worden.
In 1931 liet de schilder Emile Savitry hem jazzmuziek horen, via opnames van Louis Armstrong en Duke Ellington en vanaf dan zocht Reinhardt aansluiting bij de Franse jazzmuzikanten. In 1934 ontmoette hij de violist Stéphane Grappelli in een nachtclub in Montparnasse. Het tweetal richtte samen met Reinhardts broer Joseph (slaggitaar), Roger Chaput (slaggitaar), en Louis Vola (contrabas) het Quintet du Hot Club de France op. Een unieke combinatie alleen bestaande uit snaarinstrumenten. Viool, sologitaar, slaggitaar en contrabas. Hun eerste optreden had zoveel succes dat de platenfirma (Ultraphone) hen een contract aanbood. Het kwintet bleef optreden tot vlak voor het uitbreken van de Tweede Wereldoorlog in 1939. Stéphane Grappelli bleef toen in Londen en Reinhardt reisde terug naar Parijs. Door de Amerikaanse troepen raakte hij intussen in de Verenigde Staten bekend. Hoewel de nazi's tijdens de Tweede Wereldoorlog de zigeuners vervolgden, lieten ze Reinhardt ongemoeid. Reinhardt speelde onder andere het liedje "Bei mir bist du schön" – een Jiddisch lied van de hand van Sholom Secunda uit 1932 - dat in Duitsland bijzonder populair was en werd de beroemdste zigeunermuzikant van Europa. Hij werd zelfs gevraagd in Berlijn te komen spelen voor het Duitse opperbevel. In plaats daarvan probeerde hij te vluchten. Bij de grens tussen Frankrijk en Zwitserland werd hij opgepakt, maar vervolgens - op voorspraak van een Duits officier die dol was op zijn muziek- werd hij weer vrijgelaten. In 1943 trad hij ook weer in zijn geboortedorp op.
In 1946 speelde Reinhardt in Amerika, op uitnodiging bij het orkest van Duke Ellington. De leden van dit fameuze orkest en de orkestleider vielen van hun stoel wanneer Django simpelweg zei: "Speel maar, ik volg wel" en vervolgens 'out of the blue' de mooiste improvisaties uit de mouw schudde. Toch werd zijn Amerikaanse tournee geen succes. Django kon niet aarden in de States en hield zich,zoals gebruikelijk niet aan de afspraken. In Parijs kon dat nog wel maar in Amerika lag dat wel gevoeliger. Django kwam er wel in contact met Les Paul. Les Paul en B.B. King stellen dat ze door hem zijn beïnvloed. Trouwens... De meeste beroemde gitaristen - ook in de rockmuziek- vertellen graag hoe ze door Django beïnvloed zijn. In 1947 en 1949 maakte hij weer opnamen met Stéphane Grappelli, maar vervolgens legde hij zich steeds meer toe op schilderen en vissen in het schilderachtige Samois-sur-Seine.
Hij overleed in 1953 op 42-jarige leeftijd te Samois-sur-Seine (Fontainebleau) aan een hersenbloeding.

Alfa Romeo is het grootste Italiaanse automerk na Fiat. Alfa Romeo maakt gewone auto's (berlines en hatchbacks), sportwagens en terreinwagens (enkele prototypes). Alfa Romeo wordt in België en Nederland druk verkocht. Het merk kent een sportieve reputatie en kent een grote groep liefhebbers die 'Alfisten' , ook wel: Scrutisten, worden genoemd.
Geschiedenis
Het huidige Alfa Romeo, onderdeel van de FIAT-groep, werd in 1906 in Italie opgericht door de fransman Alexandre Darracq onder de naam Società Anonima Italiana Darracq (SAID). Alexandre Darracq dacht dat de Italiaanse automarkt, die op dat moment nog in de kinderschoenen stond vergeleken met Duitsland en Frankrijk, rijp was voor zijn oudere en kleine modellen. SAID werd door hem gestart als onderdeel van zijn reeds bestaande Franse autofabriek.
Alhoewel zijn gedachte de Italiaanse markt te veroveren met oudere en kleine modellen vanuit het perspectief van de econoom slim was, was Darracq niet succesvol met SAID. Zijn eerste twee modellen voor de Italiaanse markt waren motorisch te zwak voor de op dat moment slechte em steile Italiaanse wegen. SAID kon niet concureren met de wagens die in Italie geimporteerd werden.
Ondanks het naderende einde voor SAID was Darracq niet bereid betere model-ontwerpen door te sluizen naar zijn Italiaanse bedrijf. In 1909 werd Darraq uitgekocht door de bedrijfsleider van de Italiaanse vestiging, Ugo Stella. Deze huurde Guiseppe Merosi in om nieuwe modellen te ontwikkelen die daadwerkelijk geschikt zouden zijn voor de Italiaanse markt. De associatie met de slechte modellen van Darracq werd verbroken door vanaf 24 juni 1910 een nieuwe naam voor de onderneming te voeren, Anonima Lombarda Fabbrica Automobili, of kortweg ALFA. De eerste echte Alfa was de 24HP met een cilinderinhoud van 4084cc over vier cilinders en 24 paardenkrachten. Dit was viermaal de kracht van het grootste Darracq-model dat hij moest vervangen.
Rond 1916, tijdens de eerste wereldoorlog, verkocht het laatste Darracq-familielid met Alfa-aandelen zijn aandelen aan de bank. Deze wist ze door te verkopen aan een pomp- en compressorfabrikant, Nicola Romeo. Nicola Romeo was succesvol met het fabriceren voor de oorlogsindustrie en had nieuwe frabrieksruimte nodig. Hij was, als mijnbouwkundige, geen liefhebber van automobielen. Nicola Romeo kocht voor zijn doel de overige aandeelhouders van Alfa volledig uit en kreeg zo het volledige bedrijf in handen. Hij begon de fabrieken te gebruiken om tractoren, vliegtuigmotoren en spoorwegmaterieel te fabriceren. Hoeveel er ook gefrabriceerd werd, auto's rolden er niet meer van de band gedurende de oorlogsjaren. Tijdens deze jaren noemde Romeo de onderneming zelfs naar zichzelf.
Alexandre Darraq (1855 - 1931) was een Franse autobouwer
Geboren als Pierre Alexandre Darracq in Bordeaux uiit Baskische ouders. Hij begon het fietsmerk Gladiator in 1891. In 1896 verkochtte hij zijn succesvolle bedrijf voor een flinke som geld.
Hij ging daarna elektrische auto's bouwen en nam een aandel in Millet motorfietsen. hij was een pionier op het gebied van de geperst stalen chassis' en het gebruik van machines in plaats van manuele arbeid.
Hoewel Darracq auto's bouwde hield hij niet van autorijden of gereden worden. Hij was in de autobouw voor het geld en zijn interesse in fabriceren.
Toen in 1904 de Franse markt voor 10% in handen was van Darracq begon hij aan autoracen, waaronder Grand Prix', de Vanderbilt Cup en het wereldsnelheidsrecord op land. Hij wist hiermee het imago dusdanig te verbeteren dat hij fabrieken in Groot-Brittannië, Ierland, Spanje en Italië kon opzetten en licentieovereenkomsten kon afsluiten, zoals met Adam Opel.
In 1912 verkocht Darracq de autofabrieken aan een Brits concern en ging een Casino overnemen in Deauville. Na de Eerste Wereldoorlog ging hij met pensioen, waar hij zijn geld investeerde in een Hotel (Hotel Negresco in Nice). Hij stierf in 1931 in Monaco en werd bijgezet in het graf van zijn vrouw Louise, die leefde van 1850 tot 1920. Het graf is op het Père Lachaise Begraafplaats in Parijs.
