Warwick Road end of the Paddock work is ongoing as we seek to improve the facilities.
The large blue gates are to be moved nearer to the Warwick Road End, whilst the gents toilets; are being spruced up - and will eventually get a roof! The solitary ladies loo is being knocked completely through and is to be replaced with three new facilities. Further improvements will also see a new, more modern medical room greet the dawn of the new season.

The turnstiles that were in place between the big gates and the Warwick Road End (access to the Paddock) are being moved around the corner, so there will be six turnstiles there for entry when we kick off in August.

Carlisle United have completed work that will see Brunton Park's capacity increased to hold 16,981 supporters. The work at the stadium is in preparation for the club's new season in League One.

The revamp will cost more than £100,000 and further work will be carried out through the summer.

Simpson to sign as Preston boss

Paul Simpson is expected to become the new manager of Preston North End.

Simpson, 39, joins the Deepdale club from Carlisle and replaces Billy Davis, who has left Preston to become the new boss at Derby County.

Simpson, whose previous clubs include Rochdale, Blackpool and Walsall, is tipped to sign a three-year deal with the Deepdale club.

Preston are expected to unveil the 39-year-old at a press conference on Monday morning.

A statement on the official Carlisle website reads: "The board of Carlisle are disappointed to lose such a good manager as Paul Simpson but we are very grateful for the part he has played at the club and the team's progress made under his management.

"Negotiations between all parties have been amicable and we wish Paul every success in a career which promises and deserves to go far."

McDonald appointed Carlisle chief

Carlisle have appointed ex-Newcastle and Everton midfielder Neil McDonald as their new first-team manager. The 40-year-old was assistant to Iain Dowie at Crystal Palace last season but left his post following Dowie's switch to Premiership outfit Charlton.



Carlisle were seeking a replacement for former boss Paul Simpson who left Brunton Park to take up the Preston vacancy earlier in the month.

McDonald began his coaching career at Preston before joining Bolton in 2000.

The former England under-21 international made a £525,000 switch from Newcastle to Everton in 1988 before joining Oldham four seasons later.

New Carlisle manager Neil McDonald has made Liverpool defender David Raven his first signing since taking over.

The 21-year-old is a product of the Reds' academy after being recruited from Tranmere Rovers and has signed a two-year contract at Brunton Park.

The former England Youth captain told the club website: "Carlisle is a club that is obviously on the way up... There are some good players, and the club has great backing on and off the field, so it is a good place to be."
