Interessant artikel over het instorten van de markt.. de prijzen blijven maar dalen en dalen...

During the last couple of weeks the (constant) fall in transferprices and the collpasing general economy has been up and open for discussion in various Swedish conferences (probably in Global as well). There have been a number of tries and suggestions in order to fix this problem. I think most people can "finally" agree that this problem no longer can be ignored. From a general economy theory point of view the increase in managers (and with that - players in the game with especially lower levels of skill) has exploded which has in many ways affected the transferprices in a negative way. The supply of players in the market does no longer match the demand in the market - and we've not yet seen the new equilibrium level which we all are waiting for. Will this be reached before economical measures are to be taken? Probably not, I'm sure that the HT team has more control than we might think, however - it might be a good idea to act in a proactive rather than a reactive way; I think that time is now.
Hattrick is a very complex game, so when a suggestion involves only "lower the salaries now!" or "increase the revenues from spectators!" there are many variables to take into account and a lot of forecasting to do. This is not a guessing game, I'm sure the HT team are monitoring the markets behavior in order to find approriate measures. However there is a lot of outflow of capital that just vanishes into thin air, there needs to be some serious investigation regarding this. I've been following the threads in the Swedish conferences and there are some pretty neat summaries and suggestion in that thread. I hope that this subject is open for discussion in the Global as well as many managers has the education and knowledge to discuss and suggest improvements. It seems that the general knowledge is high from what I've seen.
I don't know the general background of what was once the "Hattrick Council", and to be honest I've got no interest looking into it. However, this was a council which monitored and watched the market and from what I understand the general economy of the game. Why or why not this did not work out in the long-run a member of the council probably could answer, but as I understand it the lack of economical variables (and other variables which were directly or indirectly connected to the economy) did not reach the Hattrick Council. This resulted in unrational decisions since the Council did not have all available information - if or why this information did not reach the Council is probably because either this information (variables that are connected) is not available even for the HT team to collect OR because the team simply didn't want the Council to have ALL the information.
So why do I mention this at all? Well, my suggestion is completely in line with the one suggested by kdaag in the Swedish "Transferpriser"-thread; in order to maintain a good marketeconomy - monitoring, actions and means of control have to be an objective. Like we've reported on before, the promoting of the game towards new markets and new users has been the priliminary goal for seasons it seems. It's time to look over the existing customers; this calls for a new focus from the HT team. I'm guessing that the HT team is flooded in other worktasks, the economy is not as crucial to fix as the general flow of the game. There are a lot of other things that has to flow and be monitored in order to keep the game flowing on a daily basis. If it isn't the economy it is the server speed .....
However this is exactly why some sort of group of people with the appropriate education and knowledge has to be formed. An economical council is not a bad start nor a bad idea, it's probably exactly what the economy needs. We have MODs monitoring the conference, we've got GMs monitoring the general gameflow along with cheating investigations and support. We've got HTs developing the gameengine and customersupport. We've got nothing or no one monitoring the economy in a professional way, a group of people (or just one) with the proper education that ONLY could focus on this. I think we almost could demand this as customers ...
To be continued. Because of the complexity of the problem.
