According to MTV.com, MINISTRY has set "Cover Up" as the title of its upcoming CD of covers — some new, some old. The disc will feature numerous guests, including STATIC-X's Wayne Static (singing "I Want You [She's So Heavy]" by THE BEATLES); CHEAP TRICK's Robin Zander (singing GOLDEN EARRING's "Radar Love"); FEAR FACTORY's Burton Bell (ROLLING STONES' "Under My Thumb"); and MINISTRY/PRONG guitarist Tommy Victor and MOUNTAIN guitarist Leslie West (MOUNTAIN's "Mississippi Queen"). "Cover Up" will also include previously released covers of BLACK SABBATH's "Supernaut", BOB DYLAN's "Lay Lady Lay", THE DOORS' "Roadhouse Blues" (which is on MINISTRY's upcoming all-new studio CD, "The Last Sucker") and MAGAZINE's "The Light That Pours Out of Me".

MINISTRY will support "The Last Sucker" with one final worldwide tour with a lineup including mainman Al Jourgensen, bassist Paul Raven (KILLING JOKE, PRONG) , Victor, guitarist Sin Quirin (REVOLTING COCKS), drummer Jimmy DeGrasso (ex-MEGADETH) and keyboardist John Bechdel. But while Jourgensen is looking forward to the tour, he also looks forward to putting the lid on the MINISTRY coffin.

"Man, I'm so looking forward to not being the front guy on a brand name," he told MTV.com. "When I was growing up, I loved LED ZEPPELIN, and I always wanted to be Jimmy Page. But I ended up being Robert Plant by default. I was the singer and the frontman when I always wanted to be — like in 'Wizard of Oz', the guy behind the curtain. I get so much more done when I'm on the sidelines, and it's more suited to my personality. I'm a studio rat. I always will be. And now I'll be able to do, like, six projects a year, so it's actually much better. You'll actually get more sick of Al Jourgensen faster than if I was to keep doing Ministry. So I view this as my second career, not a retirement."

Al Jourgensen's band MINISTRY may be releasing their final studio album — "The Last Sucker" — on September 18 on 13th Planet/Megaforce Records, but that doesn't mean Jourgensen is saying good-bye to the inside of a recording studio. As a matter of fact, Jourgensen plans to spend significantly more time in the studio doing what he loves best — collaborating. And collaboration is at the root of "Cover Up", a soon-to-be-released album of some of Al's personal favorite songs being recorded by MINISTRY & CO-CONSPIRATORS in his El Paso, TX compound, 13th Planet Studios. MINISTRY & CO-CONSPIRATORS' "Cover Up" is expected to street in April 2008.

In addition to core MINISTRY members guitarist Sin Quirin (REVOLTING COCKS) and bassist Paul Raven (KILLING JOKE, PRONG, MOB RESEARCH), Jourgensen enlisted an impressive group of co-conspirators for "Cover Up" — FEAR FACTORY frontman Burton C. Bell (also of ASCENSION OF THE WATCHERS) sings on THE ROLLING STONES' "Under My Thumb", Tony Campos (bass) and Wayne Static (vocals) from STATIC-X are on THE BEATLES' "I Want You (She's So Heavy)", and PRONG's Tommy Victor (vocals) and MOUNTAIN's Leslie West (guitar) do justice to MOUNTAIN's classic "Mississippi Queen". "Cover Up" will also include MINISTRY's cover of THE DOORS' "Roadhouse Blues" (which can also be found on "The Last Sucker"), as well as RAM JAM's "Black Betty", DEEP PURPLE's "Space Truckin'", LOUIS ARMSTRONG's "Wonderful World" and "Radar Love" by GOLDEN EARRING. Additional featured artists, including CHEAP TRICK's Robin Zander (vocals) and Rick Nielsen (guitar), and tracks are in the works.

"It's a work in progress," states Jourgensen, "based on who's on tour and comin' through town. It keeps everything spontaneous. By now, everyone knows if they're droppin' by the studio, I'm gonna put them to work. I've got a few more surprises up my sleeve for this one.

"I'm just waiting on a few more return calls," laughs Jourgensen, "Seems like lately if you visit the 13th Planet compound, you'll end up on 'Cover Up' or I'll end up signing you to my label — or both," sites Jourgensen in reference to 13th Planet Records recent signing of Victor's PRONG and Bell's ASCENSION OF THE WATCHERS).

After 10 albums and 27 years (including a 2006 Grammy nomination for "Lieslieslies" from the "Rio Grande Blood" album, and a Grammy nod in 2005 for "The Great Satan" from "Rantology", Jourgensen has decided that the MINISTRY garage is ready to close its doors, but the revolving 13th Planet Studio doors remain open for Jourgensen's collaborations and also for upcoming new signings for his 13th Planet imprint. "The Last Sucker" is MINISTRY's 11th — and absolutely final — studio offering. "The Last Sucker" is the third in an unrelenting and uber-critical CD trilogy aimed at exposing the plethora of foils, failures and fabrications perpetrated by the George W. Bush administration.

"The Last Sucker" was produced and recorded this past spring by Jourgensen at his 13th Planet compound and sees the return of "Rio Grande Blood" musicians Victor on guitars, Raven on bass, with newcomer guitarist Quirin. Jourgensen and his engineer John "Bixby" Bilberry handled all the drum programming. In addition, Bell makes a vocal appearance on "Die In A Crash", as well as the album's final two songs, "End of Days" Parts One and Two.
Vandaag trouwens The Land of Rape and Honey 12" versie binnengekregen..hoezee!
pi_53453897
goddomme, hebben ze met End of Days toch nog een van hun beste songs ooit geschreven. Wat een manier om je band op te blazen, met behulp van Burton C. en Dwight D.!

MINISTRY bassist Paul Raven was found dead yesterday (Saturday, October 20) in a private home in a small French village on the Swiss border after suffering an apparent heart attack. Raven (who is also known for his work with KILLING JOKE and PRONG) was in Geneva working with French recording artists TREPONEM PAL on their new release alongside drummer Ted Parsons (PRONG) and members of THE YOUNG GODS.

Born in Wolverhampton, UK on January 16, 1961, Paul Vincent Raven established himself with his work in the seminal post-punk/industrial act KILLING JOKE after he replaced the band's original bassist in 1982, recording and touring with the group throughout its most commercially successful period, performing on "Fire Dances", "Night Time" and "Brighter than a Thousand Suns". Throughout his extensive career, Raven participated in other collaborations, including PRONG, MURDER, INC., PIGFACE and GODFLESH. Most recently, Raven was nominated for a 2006 Grammy for "Best Metal Performance" for his work with MINISTRY's Al Jourgensen, with whom he had begun collaborating in late 2005 on the MINISTRY release "Rio Grande Blood". After a 2006 world tour with the group, Raven helped Jourgensen and PRONG's Tommy Victor pen the latest MINISTRY CD, "The Last Sucker", which is also the band's final studio release.

Commented KILLING JOKE keyboardist Reza Udhin: "Paul was a very amazing man who I loved and trusted very much. He always had great ideas, ventures and always looked out for me as if I were a little brother to him.

"I was very fortunate to be in contact with him several times in his last week and I had great conversations with him, we laughed and joked, which was an integral part of his personality.

"We had so much more to do, especially with his own personal project MOB RESEARCH, which I know he was extremely excited about.

"I don't know what more to say, as this is such an unexpected happening for me, as we were only talking a short time ago. I can't believe he is gone.

"Paul will be greatly missed by music fans, friends and mostly his family; his bands will miss him terribly. He was a great man and a unique bass player who has died at such a tragically early age.

"Love to you, brother. I miss you."

Maar toch wel weer een beetje goed nieuws, er komt nog 1 tour aan:
quote:
On the heels of their final studio release “The Last Sucker,” released September 18, 2007, Ministry announces their Final World Tour, “C U LaTouR” with Special Guests Meshuggah and opening act Hemlock. Ministry kicks off The North American leg of C U LaTouR in Vancouver late March 2008 stopping in a limited engagement, 33 major market cities through mid-May, ending the US leg in Ministry frontman Al Jourgensen’s home town of Chicago. Ministry then heads off to play the principal European festivals as well as choice club dates beginning late May stretching through to July. Exclusive pre-sale tickets for the North American C U LaTouR, offered by Music Today, go on-sale Thursday, November 15th and can be purchased here. Exclusive Special Limited Access VIP tickets will be available for purchase via the pre-sale offering advance doors, seating, meet & greets and souvenir 13th Planet gift bags.

The C U LaTouR touring line-up features Ministry’s founder Al Jourgensen being joined on-stage by guitarists Tommy Victor (Prong) and Sin Quirin (Revolting Cocks), keyboardist John Bechdel (Prong, AoTW, False Icons), drummer Jimmy DeGrasso (ex-Megadeth, Suicidal Tendencies, Alice Cooper).
Static X’s Tony Campos has recently stepped in to fulfill bass on behalf of the recently departed Ministry/Killing Joke bassist Paul Raven. Joining the Ministry clan as a Special Featured Artist will be Fear Factory/Ascension of The Watchers vocalist Burton C. Bell. Main support is Swedish experimental metal Meshuggah and opening act is the US-based Hemlock.

To coincide with C U LaTouR, Jourgensen’s indie imprint is scheduled to release Ministry & Co-Conspirators “Cover Up,” a 12-track cover release featuring artists from the 13th Planet Records family, as well as other special guests. “Cover Up” is scheduled for a simultaneous release to coincide with the launch of C U LaTouR in late March/early April 2008.

For its spectacular two-and-a-half-hour “C U LaTouR”
set, Ministry will perform tracks from “The Last Sucker” as well as songs that revisit the band’s rich and provocative 30-year musical history. Archival Ministry videos plus other visual elements of alchemy, Christianity, politics and other topics aligned with Ministry will be incorporated into a special video presentation, produced by Wicked Lake director Zach Passero (with whom Jourgensen is collaborating on the soundtrack for the feature film) that will change night to night. And, as is expected from a Ministry show, you just never know what surprise guests will jump on stage for a song or two.

“A Ministry tour is a travelling circus,” states Jourgensen, “When we roll into town, everyone hides their daughters, but the freaks roll out the red carpet and a friend or two pops up on stage to add some spice and mayhem to the show. We never know who’s gonna walk through the dressing room door at sound check. We rehearse a bunch of ‘extra’ songs just in case so-and-so shows up…””
