quote:
I have watched it a couple of times now and really see nothing wrong with it.
The judges themselves were made of a mix of Japanese judges from previous events, and one independant US judge.
The first round of any fight in K-1, unless there is serious dominance, is always scored 10/10.
In the first round of this fight Ruslan threw a LOT more than Musashi, but most missed or landed on Musashi's guard. His work rate makes him look like he stole a close round, and one of the Japanese judges agreed and gave it to Ruslan 10/9 which on its own is unusual (as no one can say he was very dominant this round).
The second round I think most will agree Musashi took. No one has argued Ruslan took the second round so I wont bother with the reasons Musashi took it, I will assume you agree. The judges however did not, and they all gave this round a draw with 10/10.
The third round, I think Ruslans flurry near the end made it look like he took a close round again. Overall though damage done had obviously gone to Musashi, and most of Musashi's counters landed better than the original shots thrown by Ruslan. I personally believe Musashi did more to win Round 2 than Ruslan did to get this round as most tend to believe. anyway, the two Japanese judges gave this a draw with 10/10, and independant US judge gave it a 10/9 to Musashi.
At the end of this we had one judge with 30/30, one with 29/30 and one with 30/29. Not overly surprising when you add shots cleanly landed (as opposed to thrown) and damage done. Perhaps the surprising part for some of you is the fact the only judge to give Musashi the nod was the US one, and the one who gave Ruslan the nod was one of the Japanese judges.
The extra round I also think everyone can agree Musashi took, giving him the win.
The English language commentator for the show also called both the draw and the extra going to Musashi.
Ruslan was cautioned once in round 1, and once in the extra round for headbutting. No cards were given so no points deducted.
It is trendy to hate on Musashi, and to believe his winning a BS fight or two makes all JD's he wins a bit sus. I truly don`t find this one of them though, and I was cheering for Ruslan.
