Ik heb met stomme verbazing sommige titels langs zien komen die ik van mijn leven niet tot oorlogsfilm zou beschouwen en ik weet niet precies wat Lonewolf bedoelde met zijn inleidend praatje, maar bijna elke film die ik niet tot de oorlogsfilm reken heb ik tegengestemd.

The General vind ik bijvoorbeeld beter dan Platoon, maar the General vind ik geen oorlogsfilm, alleen een film die zich in oorlogstijd afspeelt.

Zoals Hare al zegt, The General is niet echt een oorlogsfilm. Wel leuk.

Toch vind ik m geschikt als oorlogsfilm.

Ik vind dat je wel een beetje gelijk hebt...ook al kijk ik zelf ook films uit 1927. Dat is een beetje een nadeel als je wat minder films hebt gezien dan de rest...dan is het af en toe moeilijk om mee te doen.

Er valt een boel aan te merken aan je reactie, maar daar heb ik geen zin in, dus ik zeg alleen dit: het is niet de bedoeling dat dit de mening van het grote publiek weergeeft. In dat geval zou ik dit forum niet meer bezoeken.

Uitleggen? Heel simpel: als iedereen maar stemt op wat 'ie kent zijn A. de minder bekende films volkomen kansloos en B. heeft dan niemand wat aan dit tournament, want dan doe je nooit eens goede ideeën op. Net als Eluc heb ik even geen zin om hier verder op in te gaan, die discussie is al veel te vaak gevoerd.

Ik ben het met je eens dat het leuke van zo'n tournament is dat je nieuwe ideeen opdoet. Je ziet dat een film die je nooit gezien, en denkt misschien kom die ga ik een keer kijken.

Echter dat een topfilm als Platoon wordt uitgeschakeld doordat niemand erop kan stemmen omdat er een cultfilm van voor de oorlog voor staat, slaat naar mijn mening totaal nergens op.

Misschien zou anders iemand op het idee komen om Platoon eens een keer te gaan bekijken, op basis van dit Tournament. Misschien vindt jij Platoon niet de moeite waard, maar ik heb zo'n donkerbruin vermoeden dat 90% van de mensen als ze The General zouden hebben gezien jouw mening niet delen, aangezien stomme zwartwit films de huidige generatie niet echt meer aanspreken.

Magoed, deze discussie is bljkbaar al vaker langsgekomen. Geen idee want ik heb nog nooit meegedaan, ik post alleen even mijn mening over dit systeem. Nog 1 vraag, wie bepaalt welke film tegenover welke staat? bv. The Longest Day (1962) vs. De Aanslag (1986)?

The General is geen cultfilm hoor, het is gewoon een sterke klassieker. Je zegt dat deze de huidige generatie niet aanspreekt? Goh, wel raar dat 'ie op IMDB dan een hoger gemiddelde heeft dan Platoon (8,4 tegen 8,1). Overigens heb ik nergens gezegd dat Platoon niet de moeite waard zou zijn; ik heb er zelfs op gestemd. The General vind ik ppl sterk, maar niet in een oorlogstournament.
Verder staat Platoon voor met 7-3 ofzo, dus die zal heus wel doorgaan.

De indeling wordt bepaald door loting.

Zoals ik al schreef onder mijn stemmingslijstje. Ik heb meer gekozen op wat ik echt een oorlogsfilm vond dat wat ik de betere film vond.
En Hotaru no Haka vind ik niet echt een oorlogsfilm. Het speelt zich wel af in oorlogstijd, maar dat is voor mij nog geen oorlogsfilm

Ja, die wel.

Dat ik Hotaru no Haka niet echt een oorlogsfilm vind is dat het daar meer om de situatie gaat waar de 2 hoofdpersonen inzitten. Ze komen daar terecht door de oorlog, maar dan is het voorbij en gaat het meer om hun relatie en het overleven, zonder daarbij echt nog in aanraking te komen met oorlog.

Bij die andere 3 films die je noemt is de oorlog constant aanwezig. Een ander voorbeeld is the General. Die speelt zich ook wel af in de oorlog, maar de oorlog is daar meer gebruikt als een catalisator van de gebeurtenissen. Zijn de gebeurtenissen eenmaal onderweg doet de oorlog er niet meer toe.
