Ik ben er heel erg benieuwd hoe ie is. Ik heb een paar dagen terug de eerste Hendrix op Woodstock DVD nog eens bekeken. Geweldig!
Mja weet je wat het is, ik kijk bijna nooit DVDs dus ik vind het wel een beetje duur. Al ga ik wel als ik 'm heb het geluid rippen en op audioCD branden. Hoe lang duurt die DVD??

Ga gewoon eens naar een CD zaak en als je ze daar Axis Bold As Love hebben dan beluister je die en dan weet je snel genoeg of je dat ook onder teringherrie vindt vallen. This is the often talked about session that Jimi recorded with the members of Traffic (Steve Winwood's band at the time).
This is an excellent quality soundboard recording from OH BOY...JOIN THE DE LUXE WAY. As the CD arts tells you "This session was
recorded at an unknown place in the late 60's."
A purely instrumental affair, alternately dated as 1968 or 1970, this studio material is among the most intriguing
unreleased pieces of either performer. The lineup is listed as Jimi Hendrix (guitar), Steve Winwood (piano), Chris Wood
(flute), Rick Grech (bass), and Jim Capaldi (drums), but the actual lineup of these recordings is uncertain. Only Hendrix
is identifiable with certainty. The overall sound resembles Traffic, and the piano and flute parts seem particularly
recognizable as Steve and Chris, respectively.
The music on this cd consists of jams that, in contrast to Traffic's usual melodic sensibilities, range from minor key to
almost atonal structure. Some of the magic of the "Voodoo Chile" session is also evident on this recording. The jams sound
basically spontaneous, organized around particular keys with shifting tempos, and lack a distinct song structure. None of
them sound like they were even intended to have vocal parts. For the most part, the piano and drums drive the rhythms while
the guitar and flute solo. The extraordinary aspect of the recording is the complementary interplay between Jimi and Chris.
While Jimi builds upon driving vamps that eventually erupt into molten solos, Chris counterbalances with his usual delicate,
mellowing flute. The result of this collaboration is at least interesting, and sometimes magical. Unlike other Hendrix jam
sessions, Jimi seems to have a lot of respect for Traffic and doesn't fully dominate the proceedings, which makes the
session perhaps unique to both entities.
This bootleg CD consists of three jams of excellent quality studio recordings. The insert states that the session "was
recorded at an unknown place in the late 60's". Credits are Jimi Hendrix (guitar), Chris Wood (flute and saxophone), Jim
Capaldi (drums), and Steve Winwood (organ). In the book Jimi Hendrix: Electric Gypsy (1995), by Harry Shapiro and Caesar
Glebbeek, the well researched discography section lists the CD as released in late 1990, and recorded in 1968 or 1969.

Another disc of jam sessions, Electric Anniversary Jimi is comprised of tracks recorded mostly at the Record Plant studio. A lot of these tracks are available on other releases, either the same track or different takes of the same song. But there are a few that are new to me. World Traveller, It's Too Bad, and You Make Me Feel I haven't heard anywhere before and are pretty cool. Would have been interesting to see them in their final forms. Message From Nine To The Universe is the same as the one on the CD of the same title,
but here is in it's complete form, including some vocals from Devon Wilson, Jimi's girlfriend at the time. World Traveller, a pretty funky tune, features a strong organ melody and judging from the style, I'm guessing Steve Winwood.
It's Too Bad is blues all the way, and kinda reminds me of slow blues version of 1983...A Mermaid I Should Turn To Be from Electric Ladyland in feeling. All in all, a pretty decent package, offering a little something for both new and old collectors.

This is an excellent quality soundboard recording from OH BOY...JOIN THE DE LUXE WAY. As the CD arts tells you "This session was
recorded at an unknown place in the late 60's."
A purely instrumental affair, alternately dated as 1968 or 1970, this studio material is among the most intriguing
unreleased pieces of either performer. The lineup is listed as Jimi Hendrix (guitar), Steve Winwood (piano), Chris Wood
(flute), Rick Grech (bass), and Jim Capaldi (drums), but the actual lineup of these recordings is uncertain. Only Hendrix
is identifiable with certainty. The overall sound resembles Traffic, and the piano and flute parts seem particularly
recognizable as Steve and Chris, respectively.
The music on this cd consists of jams that, in contrast to Traffic's usual melodic sensibilities, range from minor key to
almost atonal structure. Some of the magic of the "Voodoo Chile" session is also evident on this recording. The jams sound
basically spontaneous, organized around particular keys with shifting tempos, and lack a distinct song structure. None of
them sound like they were even intended to have vocal parts. For the most part, the piano and drums drive the rhythms while
the guitar and flute solo. The extraordinary aspect of the recording is the complementary interplay between Jimi and Chris.
While Jimi builds upon driving vamps that eventually erupt into molten solos, Chris counterbalances with his usual delicate,
mellowing flute. The result of this collaboration is at least interesting, and sometimes magical. Unlike other Hendrix jam
sessions, Jimi seems to have a lot of respect for Traffic and doesn't fully dominate the proceedings, which makes the
session perhaps unique to both entities.
This bootleg CD consists of three jams of excellent quality studio recordings. The insert states that the session "was
recorded at an unknown place in the late 60's". Credits are Jimi Hendrix (guitar), Chris Wood (flute and saxophone), Jim
Capaldi (drums), and Steve Winwood (organ). In the book Jimi Hendrix: Electric Gypsy (1995), by Harry Shapiro and Caesar
Glebbeek, the well researched discography section lists the CD as released in late 1990, and recorded in 1968 or 1969.

Another disc of jam sessions, Electric Anniversary Jimi is comprised of tracks recorded mostly at the Record Plant studio. A lot of these tracks are available on other releases, either the same track or different takes of the same song. But there are a few that are new to me. World Traveller, It's Too Bad, and You Make Me Feel I haven't heard anywhere before and are pretty cool. Would have been interesting to see them in their final forms. Message From Nine To The Universe is the same as the one on the CD of the same title,
but here is in it's complete form, including some vocals from Devon Wilson, Jimi's girlfriend at the time. World Traveller, a pretty funky tune, features a strong organ melody and judging from the style, I'm guessing Steve Winwood.
It's Too Bad is blues all the way, and kinda reminds me of slow blues version of 1983...A Mermaid I Should Turn To Be from Electric Ladyland in feeling. All in all, a pretty decent package, offering a little something for both new and old collectors.

The Jimi Hendrix Experience: Live At The Isle Of Fehmarn marks the eighth release in Dagger Records' (http://www.daggerrecords.com) popular bootleg-style recording series. This historically significant album features The Jimi Hendrix Experience's final live performance on September 6, 1970 during the Love & Peace Festival held on the Isle Of Fehmarn in Germany.
Originally slated to perform on September 5th, The Experience's appearance at the festival was delayed by frequent rain storms that plagued the previous days shows. Having just completed a series of six concerts in six days including headlining shows at both the Isle Of Wight (August 30) and Berlin (September 4), the extra day of rest would serve the group well.
By the time The Experience took to the stage on September 6, audience tensions were guarded following a series of fights between German bikers, that had escalated in ferocity, and included the festival Box Office being robbed at gun point and Jimi Hendrix's own road manager, Gerry Stickells being attacked. Depsite these problems, The Experience delivered an enthusiastic hour-plus performance which saw Jimi lead the trio through a series of songs encompassing all of the different periods of the group's existence.
Jimi's Isle Of Fehmarn performance has been widely bootlegged over the last 35 years yet it was never professionally recorded. Amateur recordings made from the audience by fans have served as the only known documentation of this historic concert until now. As the eighth entry in this popular 'bootleg' series, Dagger presents a newly discovered recording made by the festival's promoters. Unbeknownst to Hendrix, the promoters captured the group's entire performance by feeding two overhead stage microphones into a consumer grade Revox reel-to-reel tape machine located off to the side of the stage. The resulting document, rough hewn and unmixed, is clear and not unlike the amateur audience recording featured on the initial Dagger offering Live At The Oakland Coliseum.
In addition to "Killing Floor," Live At The Isle Of Fehmarn also features "Spanish Castle Magic," "All Along The Watchtower," "Hey Joe," "Message To Love," "Hey Baby (New Rising Sun)," "Foxey Lady," "Red House," "Ezy Ryder," "Freedom," "Room Full Of Mirrors," "Purple Haze," and a particularly memorable rendition of "Voodoo Child (Slight Return)."
