Verder vind ik de film vooral vreselijk mooi vanwege de onvoorwaardelijke liefde van Donnie voor het meisje en daarbij zijn eerste echte stappen in de onbegrijpelijke grotemensenwereld. Een existentiele ontdekkingstocht, gekoppeld aan die mooie thematiek van de duistere suburb onder een veilig laagje vernis, maar dan zo uitgewerkt dat je er aan het eind 1001 kanten mee op kan .
