Michael Bridges, who we signed in January, is a player which a club such as Carlisle rarely gets a chance to sign. It normally only happens when a good player's had a tough time, like Bridgey has with his injuries. He's given us a real impetus.

There's no point trying to forget about being top. There's no point getting yourself into that position if you're not going to enjoy it. We can talk about promotion, but I don't want us saying we are definitely going to get it. We talk about making sure we continue to do the things we've done so far to ensure we achieve promotion. We know if we continue in the same vein, we'll have something to celebrate.

Would you be happy if you finish in the play-offs?
You're judged on 46 games. If, after 46 games, we're in the play-offs it will still be a really good progression from two and a half years ago.

At the start of the season, we wanted to make sure we stayed in the Football League - we've done that and now we're looking at other things. If we finish in the play-offs, we have to say it's where we deserve to be - then have a right good go to get through them.

How pleased are you to give something to your long-suffering fans?
They've had to go through a lot of grief and they've taken a bit of stick in recent years.

At one point we were a bit of a joke team in the league - we avoided the drop on goal difference, or because other clubs did not have the ground up to scratch, or because we had a goalkeeper scoring with the last kick of the season! But last year they had a lot to smile about as we came out of the Conference and this year we've built momentum.

They're enjoying it, they're turning out in their numbers and generating a really noisy atmosphere inside Brunton Park. Hopefully we can all celebrate together.

Die wedstrijd uit 02/03 geeft wel een indicatie, aangezien er toen ook een club dichtbij Cardiff in speelde en Carlisle natuurlijk. Ik reken dus opnieuw op meer dan 50.000 man.

Dit is een mooie kans om een finale in het Millennium te zien (ben ik nog nooit geweest). Uiteraard zal ik Swansea luidruchtig gaan supporteren.
