Geduld is een schone zaak Moni, maar geldt helaas niet voor allen.

De Moslimraad maakt zich er wel belachelijk mee in elk geval

Ik wordt wel een beetje angstig hoor, dus na 15 agustus moeten we maar lekker allert zijn. En vooral niet in de grote steden met het openbaar vervoer reizen.

Tsja, slachtoffertje spelen leer je niet zomaar af. Maar ze gaan er ondertussen wel meteen vanuit ook dat mohammedanen een probleem hebben met terrorisme. Nu alleen nog leren dat het probleem wat anders ligt dan ze denken.

Hoezo? Vanwege een internetmelding waarvan de echtheid niet kan worden vastgesteld? Als ze een video opsturen met allerlei geflipte radicalen die op de tape die zweren Europa te vernietigen was het wellicht het aandacht geven waard geweest.

Ik vind het niet zo vreemd dat ze bang zijn voor een vogelvrij verklaring van Pakistanen in het openbaar vervoer. Ik vind het wel vreemd dat ze daar zonder verdere informatie binnen een paar uur al mee komen.

LONDON, England (Reuters) -- An area near the home of one of the four men behind the July 7 suicide bomb attacks in London, Germaine Lindsay, has been evacuated after an arson attempt, police said on Friday.

Thames Valley Police said they found substances believed to be petrol or diesel around the house in the market town of Aylesbury, 40 miles (60 km) northwest of London.

"The area is still cordoned off and the houses in the immediate area are still evacuated," a Thames Valley police spokeswoman said.

Jamaican-born Lindsay lived with his wife and child in the house, which is now standing empty. Fire and police officers are still at the scene to investigate.

Police have said Lindsay was one of four bombers who carried out the July 7 attacks on the London underground and bus network which killed 52 people.

British politicians, police and faith leaders called for a calm and tolerant response after the attacks, although the Muslim Council of Britain has reported a higher than normal level of abuse, including windows being smashed at mosques and Muslims being shouted at in the street.

There have been several variations in spelling of Lindsay's name, however police say this latest version is correct.

LONDON (Reuters) - Armed police searched a house in west London on Friday in connection with the attempted bombings on the transport system in London on Thursday, a police spokeswoman said.

She said no arrests had been made.

A witness earlier said heavily armed police had descended on part of Harrow Road in west London, shouting at people to stay off the streets.

"There's what looks like a bomb disposal-type vehicle, armored, and there's several armed officers around it," Houst Monfaradi told BBC television, adding there was a huge police presence in the area.

"About half hour an ago, police ran up my road telling everyone to get inside their houses. Anyone who even pops their head out, they scream at them: 'get inside your house'."

He said he also saw a small remote-controlled tracked vehicle, followed by a couple of armed officers with shields.

London police had been due to hold a news conference at 1:30 p.m. (1230 GMT) on the day's events but it was delayed by more than an hour. Sky Television, citing police sources, said the delay was for operational reasons.

Police have issued CCTV images of four men they "urgently need to trace" in connection with Thursday's failed bomb attacks in London. This image was taken at Oval, one of the three Tube stations involved.


This man is wanted in connection with the incident at Warren Street station on the Victoria line


This picture taken at Westbourne Park Tube shows another man the police wish to contact, this time in connection with the attack at Shepherds Bush.


This man is wanted in connection with the explosion on a bus in Hackney Road, Shoreditch. Scotland Yard urged anyone who knew where the suspects were to call 999, or if they could identify any of the men to call the anti-terrorist hotline on 0800 789 321.

A Muslim group has said it is concerned there is a new police "shoot to kill" policy in the UK following the shooting dead of a man in south London.
The Muslim Council of Britain said it was getting calls from Muslims who were "distressed" about the incident at Stockwell Tube station.

Roy Ramm, former Met Police specialist operations commander, said the rules for confronting potential suicide bombers had recently changed to "shoot to kill".

One terrorism expert said if the shooting was carried out by police - rather than special forces - it would represent a "pretty big departure" for the UK force.

Professor Michael Clarke, professor of defence studies at King's College London, said the officers who carried out the operation in south London were unlikely to be police.

Er zijn vandaag wel drie invallen gedaan. Op de radio hoorde ik ook dat twee vrouwen in een internetcafé werden gearresteerd (zie hierboven). Verder niets over de invallen gehoord.

The police deployment of firearms is governed by a manual published by the Association of Police Officers, last revised in February 2005.

It is not true to say that police officers must identify themselves or shout a warning when confronting a suspect believed to pose a grave and imminent threat.
The manual says that that procedure "should be considered" but recognises that the key aim of an operation is to "identify, locate, contain and neutralise" the threat posed.

In many situations, this would require the suspect to stop moving and put his hands in view. That would not necessarily apply when the police are faced with a suspected suicide bomber.

The aim of opening fire is to stop an imminent threat to life. The most effective means of incapacitating a suspect is to shoot at the central body mass which contains the central nervous system.

This is what the police mean by "shooting to stop".

A head shot against a possibly moving target is more difficult to achieve.
However, the police have taken advice from officers in countries such as Israel and Sri Lanka which have long experience of suicide attacks.
Their advice is that if a suspect clearly has no intention of surrendering, the armed officer should attempt to aim for the head or lower limbs to prevent a suicide belt being detonated.
