Maar onder een cataclysme versta ik wel iets groters dan een aardbevinkje oid;quote:"The illusion of freedom will continue as long as it's profitable to continue the illusion. At the point where the illusion becomes too expensive to maintain, they will just take down the scenery, they will pull back the curtains, they will move the tables and chairs out of the way, and you will see the brick wall at the back of the theatre." - Frank Zappa
quote:We may be about to experience peak oil, the most oil the world will ever produce, after which it will fall into rapid decline. Every aspect of industrial civilization is built upon oil. Not just the gas for our cars but the petrochemicals that go into virtually every good that that is produced and – most importantly – into synthetic fertilizers and pesticides of mechanized agricultural production. Unless we undertake an Apollo project for renewable energy right now, resource wars will continue to proliferate, billions will starve to death and industrial civilization will collapse.
American may also be facing an economic collapse that could make the great depression look like a hiccup. Billionaire market oracles like George Soros and Warrren Buffet and organizations at the pinnacle of the global capitalist system like the International Monetary Fund and Bank of International Settlements are already sounding the alarm right now. The confluence of the federal deficit, gigantic business and personal debt, an real estate market inflated by 30-40%, multi-trillion dollar mortgage holders Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac teetering on the edge of bankruptcy, a stock market trading at double its historic price-to-earning ratio, severely under funded pension funds, and a $150 trillion dollar weapon of financial mass destruction known as derivatives could all combine to form a perfect storm that decimates the American economy and takes most of the global economy down with it as well.
Add to this the environmental stress of a poisoned and brutalized planet pushed far beyond its natural carrying capacity and we face the very real specter of the collapse of industrial civilization, the economy and the environment in the very near future.
The permanent government knows this, which is why the statutory, judicial and “law enforcement” mechanisms of a full-blown police state are already in place. Several trial balloons have already been floated. The extra-judicial assassination of an American citizen by a Predator missile in Yemen, the holding of Americans without charges or access to legal counsel, the infiltration of law-abiding activist groups, police riots in Oakland and Miami rampaging against peaceful, non-violent protesters, a dramatically enhanced regime of surveillance, and even the prospect of martial law and a suspension of the constitution after the next manufactured, mass casualty “terrorist incident,” as suggested by General Tommy Franks in a recent edition of Cigar Aficionado. They already have the power. It is just a question of if and when they choose to flip the switch.
A time of great danger to be sure but also a time of great hope and opportunity as well.
We can no longer let a bloated national security state spend 50% of our tax dollars on a program of perpetual war for perpetual peace that has already killed over 8 million people overseas since World War II. We can no longer allow an unaccountable national security state run amok at home and abroad to protect nothing whatsoever except the rapacious and psychopathic interests of the transnational corporations. We can no longer allow an omnivorous national security state to eat the hope of generations to come.
Historically the nation-state has almost exclusively served the interests of corporatism and militarism. We are at a crossroads of the evolution of historical consciousness of a first order of historical magnitude. At the very least, the events of the next five years will determine the course of human history for the nest five hundred. We must find a way to move beyond ignorance and fear and anger and racism and xenophobia and hypocrisy or everything we hold most dear will die – democracy, security, prosperity, the constitution, the impartial rule of law, laughter, joy, and curiosity.
Either we find a way to use the power of the nation-state to immediately establish a universal regime of peace, social justice and environmental sustainability or we will brutally violate the legacy of the unborn and watch in shock and awe as the entire wicked filthy Babylon system goes up in flames, crashes down and shatters into a million pieces.
In 2000, there were 22,256 recorded earthquakes worldwide. That number has steadily increased to 31,199 earthquakes in 2004."quote:"The U.S. Geological Survey data indicate earthquake occurrences are increasing.

Denk er net zo over, echter denk ik dat het eerder binnen de 3 jaar zal zijn ipv 30 jaar.quote:"More than 3,000 people were killed and a quarter million left homeless in the 1906 quake. Today, scientists foresee a 60 percent chance that a large quake of magnitude 6.7 or greater will strike San Francisco in the next 30 years."

Even dit benadrukken. Om erop te wijzen dat de afwisseling van droogte en watersnood een catalysator kan zijn voor aardbevingen. Het is af te wachten of dit hier ook het geval zal zijn.( woehoe my first superficial earthquake predictionquote:Flash flood concerns were raised in areas denuded by big wildfires in late September and early this month, when the region was under the spell of a dry heat wave.
zulke uitspraken zijn we ondertussen gewoon.quote:“The sky just opened up, and I don’t think it can rain any harder or faster,” Koch said. “There were times when it was absolutely a deluge.”

Men meet er meer omdat er meer seismografen geplaatst worden, aldus datzelfde U.S. Geological Survey: "As more and more seismographs are installed in the world, more earthquakes can be and have been located. However, the number of large earthquakes (magnitude 6.0 and greater) have stayed relatively constant."quote:Op zaterdag 15 oktober 2005 23:26 schreef francorex het volgende:
