Juf schokt school Harkema met blootfoto's

HARKEMA - Een blootsessie in het seksblad Foxy heeft openbare basisschool 't Holdersnêst in Harkema behoorlijk in verlegenheid gebracht. Juf Ingrid , die normaliter les geeft aan groep 2/3, is te bewonderen in het aprilnummer. In overleg met de schoolleiding is ze een week thuisgebleven, zodat de gemoederen in het dorp wat tot bedaren kunnen komen.

De twee foto's van Ingrid en haar vriendin Durkje op pagina 81 zijn genomen tijdens een bezoek aan de Kamasutra erotiekbeurs in Utrecht. De foto's dienen als voorproefje op de reportage die volgende maand in het blad komt. De schaars geklede 'beursbabes', zoals ze in het blad worden genoemd, hebben niets verdiend met de sessie. Het ging ze om de lol.

Op een paginagrote foto zit Ingrid nog vrolijk lachend en zwaaiend bij Durkje op schoot, gehuld in slechts een Foxy- hemdje. Op de andere prent is het duo creatief bezig met Albert Heijn-slagroom op een oranje gebloemd keukenzeiltje.

,,Dit is gjin reklame foar de skoalle'', zucht schooldirecteur Willem Wouda. Het verhaal heeft behoorlijk stof doen opwaaien in het dorp, weet hij. Alle ouders zijn inmiddels door de school geïnformeerd. ,,Wy fine it hiel ferfelend'', vervolgt Wouda, ,,dat liket my wol dúdlik.'' Hoewel de directeur niet in het privé-leven van zijn medewerkers wil treden, zijn er grenzen. ,,Hast as juf dochs in bepaalde foarbyldfunksje.''

Na alle commotie deze week, is het lachen juf Ingrid wel een beetje vergaan. Ze heeft spijt, niet van de foto's maar wel van de gevolgen voor de school. ,,Ik fyn it spitich dat it safolle opskuor feroarsake hat, mar ik bin bliid dat ik nije wike gewoan wer oan it wurk kin.''

Wie nog snel even bij de plaatselijke Poiesz-supermarkt een Foxy onder de jas wil drukken, is te laat. Assistent-bedrijfsleider Robert Algra: ,,Ze zijn allemaal uitverkocht.''

Sky diver dies after losing legs in 'freak' accident

DELAND -- A sky diver died Saturday hours after losing both legs in a mid-air collision with the plane from which he had just jumped, authorities said.
Albert "Gus" Wing III, 55, of Longwood hit the airplane's wing at an altitude of about 600 feet while both were descending over the airport, witnesses told police.

The left wing of the airplane, piloted by William Buchmann of DeLand, sheared off both of Wing's legs below the knees, police said. Wing managed to maneuver the parachute and land. The airplane also landed safely.

Wing, who remained conscious, was transported to Halifax Medical Center by helicopter.

Lt. Dennis McGuire of the DeLand Police Department said parts of Wing's legs were recovered but were "unusable."

Police aren't sure whether Wing -- a photographer and cinematographer for Skydive DeLand -- was filming at the time of the accident and no camera was found, McGuire said. Wing also owned a DeLand production company, Flying Wings Production, according to Skydive DeLand's Web site.

Mike Johnston, general manager of Skydive DeLand where the accident occurred, said the accident was not common.

"There are about 15 million jumps every year," he said. "I only know of one other case where a sky diver was struck by an airplane."

A few hours after the accident, a group of silver-haired sky divers were standing together, drinking beer in a parking lot near the airfield.

"We're in mourning," said one.

"It's just something you never hear about, a freak accident," said another.

Since 2000, four people have died in sky diving accidents at Skydive DeLand, according to News-Journal records.

In the most recent fatality, Czech sky diver Jan Kadie, 28, died after a hard landing in January.

Saturday afternoon, Federal Aviation Administration officials were on the scene to investigate the accident.

Mystery of German exploding toads

Toads in an area of northern Germany are being killed off by a mysterious disease - they are exploding.
Thousands of the amphibians have died in recent days in a pond in Hamburg's Altona district, with their bodies swelling to bursting point.




The toads' entrails are propelled for up to a metre (3.2ft), in scenes that have been likened to science fiction.

Scientists are baffled. Possible explanations include a unknown virus or a fungus in the pond.

"You see the animals crawling on the ground, swelling and then exploding," German conservationist Werner Smolnik told AFP news agency.

The bodies of the toads expanded to three and a half times their normal size, he said.

"I have never seen such a thing," AFP quotes veterinarian Otto Horst as saying. The site - which has been dubbed "the pond of death" - has been closed to the public.

The exploding toads have also crossed the border north into Denmark, according to Danish Radio.

It reported that a large number of toads that live in a pond near Laasby in central Jutland have started to suffer the same fate as the German amphibians.

The toads crawl onto the land, swell up and explode in the middle of the night, the radio said.

Car smashes into upstairs bedroom

Two men are in a critical condition after a freak accident which saw their car crash into an upstairs bedroom of a house.

Emergency teams were astonished to find the BMW had apparently taken off, soared 20 feet into the air and smashed into the first floor of the property.

The car then fell back into the garden and burst into flames, leaving a gaping hole in the side of the house.

The homeowners were awoken in the middle of the night to a scene of devastation.

Joyce Harman said: "There was a large explosion so we came out of our bedroom to check what the noise was and saw that in the next bedroom all the furniture had gone from one side to the other.

"We came downstairs and saw the car on fire."

The room was being used as a study so was empty at the time of the crash and no one in the house was hurt.

Police said they were still trying to establish exactly what happened.

Nose bitten off

A York City woman involved in an altercation yesterday afternoon had her nose bitten off, York City Police said.
Sonia Ortiz, 31, of the 100 block of Jefferson Avenue was taken to York Hospital.

Today, a hospital spokeswoman said she had no information on a patient by that name. Federal law allows patients to forbid hospital staff from releasing information about them, including their conditions.

Police said Ortiz was involved in a fight with another person at the intersection of North George and Arch streets at 4:30 p.m. when she was bitten.

A charge of aggravated assault will be filed against the suspect, according to police, who provided no physical description of that person.

Tijdens de Koninginnenach en op Koninginnedag zelf wordt er traditioneel veel gedronken, maar dit jaar niet op de stations van de Nederlandse Spoorwegen. Daar geldt namelijk vanaf vrijdag 19.00 uur tot zondag 5.00 uur een totaal alcoholverbod. Er mag niets gedronken worden, de hoeveelheid alcohol die reizigers mogen meenemen is beperkt en er wordt geen alcohol meer verkocht op de stations.

Mensen die meer dan één flesje of blikje met alcoholhoudende drank bij zich hebben, moeten dat bij de spoorwegpolitie inleveren. "Het is een dag vol feest, maar we willen de sfeer wel graag in de hand houden", aldus een woordvoerder.

De NS verwacht dat, net zoals ieder jaar, mensen massaal afreizen naar de grote steden. Er zullen daarom extra lange treinen worden ingezet op veel trajecten. Naar Nijmegen zullen meer treinen rijden, omdat die stad tegelijk met Koninginnedag het 2000-jarige bestaan viert. Naar Amsterdam zullen zo veel mogelijk dubbeldekkers ingezet worden in de hoop de stroom reizigers aan te kunnen.

Attacker bites off part of nose

A man has had part of his ear and nose bitten off in an attack in County Antrim.
The 48-year-old victim was walking along the Slaughterford Road near Whitehead between 0100 and 0115 BST on Sunday when he was attacked.

Police were alerted to the attack by a call from a woman and have appealed for her to get back in touch with them.

It is understood the victim is a prison officer. Police are trying to establish a motive for the attack.

However, they do not believe it was sectarian or paramilitary related.

The injured man is to undergo specialist surgery in Ulster Hospital, Dundonald.

Danny O'Connor, SDLP, said the attack was "depraved" and highlighted "general lawlessness".

"People want to feel safe. Young people want to feel safe on the streets and older people want to feel safe in their homes," he said.

Miss Jumbo - Thai beauty wins heavyweight crown

ONE month before Bangkok hosts the Miss Universe competition, Thailand has crowned a 110kg business student winner of a light-hearted, heavyweight pageant staged to promote elephant conservation.

Tarnrarin Chansawang, 18, was crowned the eighth Miss Jumbo Queen after a contest in which 24 large-size women sang and danced to pop tunes and traditional Thai music.
The annual event is an unlikely precursor to the international pageant May 30 in Bangkok, but the Jumbo Queen has become a strangely popular event in a country where most women strive to be skinny.



Suphaphini Buanwongse, a 21-year-old who won the Miss Mahout title for best performance for a dance in which she mixed and served drinks for the judges, said she wanted to keep her 140kg.

"I still want to be fat. I don't want to lose my weight," she said.

Tarnrarin had only praise for the competition, after she tearily accepted the crown.

"I feel I am also beautiful, whatever the figure, it's OK," she said after the pageant. "I'm happy with my body."

"Slim or big, just have fun with your friends," she said, while admitting that she might try to lose weight once her reign is over.

In addition to the 50,000-baht (1,250-dollar) cash prize, Tarnrarin becomes an elephant conservation ambassador, taking part in awareness campaigns to highlight the plight of Thailand's herds.

Thailand's total elephant herd population is nearly 5000, with up to 2000 of them in the wild. Experts have warned that the wild population could be wiped out within 15 years if no action is taken.
