August 11, 1999... The scooper we refer to as 'Skynet Spy' publically e-mailed us this week with news on the latest happenings with this project: "Cameron had a falling out with the producers, as I think everyone knows by now; and the producers are currently making the rounds to the agencies looking for a new screenwriter." [We call 'em 'Skynet Spy', but their mother knows 'em by a different name.]
September 26, 1999... We promised a big scoop last week about a sequel the fans really want to see, and finally here it is: CA has learned that James Cameron now intends to write, produce and direct Terminator 3. Previous reports indicated that both Arnold Schwarzenegger and James Cameron had been playing around with another chapter in the franchise that launched both of their wildly successful careers, but now we've been given information that states Cameron's intention to perform the same trio of roles he had on 1991's blockbuster Terminator 2: Judgement Day. CA has also been told that in addition to Lightstorm's Rae Sanchini, Mario Kassar and Andrew G. Vajna will also serve as T3 producers. All this comes from our scooper 'Turtle' who proved it to us by showing documentation of the above facts.

Unfortunately, that's all we know right now. Whether or not Schwarzenegger will play another T-800 or a different character, the details of the storyline, and when Cameron is supposed to start writing the script were unavaliable to Turtle. Oh, there is one other bit of information we do know: Linda Hamilton (Sarah Connor) is not involved with the project at this stage of its development, nor is Edward Furlong (John Connor) or Robert Patrick (who played the amorphous T-1000.)

Just last month our 'Skynet Spy' told us Cameron had a falling out with the producers, but now with today's report from 'Turtle' we're assuming things changed. How work on T3 will effect development on True Lies 2, which also seems to be slowly solidifying, or Schwarzenegger's future avaliability remain to be seen. We're guessing that if Cameron puts pen to paper in the near future, Fox will want to get this project on the fast-track. Jim, anytime you want to let us know what's going on, we're all ears.

['Turtle' travelled back through time to give us this information, but didn't want to show us the Terminator 3 illustrated screenplay book except for a quick flash of its cover. We're hoping we didn't actually see Pauly Shore on the film's poster.]

November 11, 1999... Our last two insider reports about the development of T3 painted two different pictures: either Cameron had a falling out with producers Andrew Vajna and Mario Kassar, or he was keeping his involvement under wraps. The news report in today's Variety Dish column told us our first scooper's story was indeed the real deal.

Variety reporter Michael Fleming revealed that Kassar and Vajna are planning on making T3 sometime next year for release in 2001 - and shortly after that, they plan to release Terminator 4. Both scripts are being developed right now by C-2 Pictures executive James Middleton, with the plan to have both scripts ready by sometime in ths spring of 2000. Kassar and Vajna both served as producers on 1991's Terminator 2: Judgement Day, and bought back 50% of the film franchise's rights in 1997.

Variety revealed that the third film's storyline will show how the war against the machines begins in the present day (which means the war takes place when the film is released to theaters in 2001), and is being written by screenwriter Tedi Sarafian (Tank Girl, The Road Killers, the TV movie Tidal Wave: No Escape and the upcoming Metalheads movie.) It seems that the dark future that Sarah Connor fought to create in Terminator 2: Judgement Day will still happen, and a nuclear war will take place. In the aftermath of the war the machine intelligence of Skynet now rules the planet - and that leads into the fourth film (see CA's Terminator 4 page for details.)

Absolutely no one has been cast to star in T3 yet. James Cameron, the writer/director of the first two Terminator films, will not be involved with either one of the future films. Whether or not any of the Terminator stars like Linda Hamilton (Sarah Connor), Edward Furlong (John Connor), Michael Biehn (Kyle Reece), Robert Patrick (the T-1000 liquid metal Terminator) or Arnold Schwarzenegger (the T-800 cyborg Terminator) will return for the upcoming sequels remains to be seen. Kassar told Variety "I'd love for Arnold to be in it, but we're not at that point yet," leaving the door open for the star's possible return. However, Schwarzenegger has made comments in the press before that he would only reprise the role if Cameron was also involved. If Arnold doesn't want to be involved production will still take place on T3 and T4.

Kassar expressed his enthusiam and hoped that the two sequels his company is developing could stand on their own and deliever what Terminator fans want to see. "I don't know if you can ever equal the first two films, because James Cameron is a genius, but we're going to do our best, use the best special- effects houses, and really surprise people with the creative stories that are great and have the twists and turns the audience expects," Vairety quoted Kassar as saying. [Scoops sent in by Adam, 'Agent Smith', 'The Film Maven', 'SkywalkerOS8'.]

April 5, 2000... On the March 30th edition of Entertainment Tonight Linda Hamilton stated that she was interested in making another Terminator movie, but only if her former husband James Cameron is onboard. Hamilton told ET that she still thinks he is the creative mastermind behind the films and still has alot of respect for him (the couple divorced back in '98.) She was hoping to see a script in the near future. Entertainment Tonight also mentioned that Edward Furlong has stated he is interested in reprising his role of John Connor. [Hasta la vista to 'Dinger', Rachel, 'CMF' and Travis Kirkland.]

June 21, 2000... Well now we're really interested in understanding how this one came together. Arnold Schwarzenegger excited all the fans of the Terminator franchise this week when he was quoted on Access Hollywood as saying he'll be plans to return to the franchise after all.

As you may recall from earlier T3 postings on this page, Schwarzenegger was remaining non-committal to either of the two Terminator projects recently announced by C-2 Pictures. Schwarzenegger was even quoted as saying he wouldn't be coming back to the franchise that launched his career unless the other major player in the creation of The Terminator also returned, that being writer/producer/director James Cameron. Cameron hasn't said anything publically about the matter.

Then from out-of-the-blue, Arnold tells Access Hollywood that he's warmed up to playing another T-800 chassis again. Schwarzenegger told AH "We'll make an announcement soon. It's all a matter of the script, the director and all of those kinds of things."

Then he added this interesting side-note: ""My big wish is Jim Cameron and I work together again." So now we're left wondering: it looks like Schwarzenegger has at least attached his name to the project, something he said he wouldn't do unless James Cameron were involved. Has Cameron given his blessing to the T3 project, to Arnold, or is there perhaps a deal going on behind the scenes to get Cameron on-board the film in some position? In short...what's going on??

In any case, the rest of the entertainment media jumped all over the Access Hollywood story. We've been receiving reports that the story was carried by Yahoo! News, Entertainment Weekly Online, New York Daily News, E! Online, USA Today, ABC News, the BBC as well as other local radio and entertainment news reporters that picked up the piece. From the amount of email we received about this one news item, a lot of people's interest just perked way up.

We're going to place a call tomorrow with C-2 Pictures to see what they have to say -- and if this latest development also means Schwarzenegger would be involved in some capacity with Terminator 4, which is also in developement at C-2.

Morning, June 22, 2000... Today's Variety and The Hollywood Reporter are both running the story that Arnold Schwarzenegger has officially committed to star in Terminator 3, set to begin production in the spring of 2001 in Los Angeles. Although details about the exact size of the film's budget and whether or not other Terminator co-stars would reprise their roles in the sequel were still unknown, the announcement that Schwarzenegger is coming back to the franchise that launched his career is a huge win for the project. No doubt Terminator fans will be pleased.

While both industry trade magazines ran the story, The Hollywood Reporter's coverage of the Schwarzenegger/T3 announcement gathered even more interesting speculation. According to the Reporter, the magazine's sources said that there had been discussion between Schwarzenegger and Cameron about the Oscar-winning director helming T3; in fact, the Reporter says Cameron's already read Tedi Sarafian's T3 script chronicling the events leading up to Skynet declaring war on the humans.

Although no studio distribution deals have been made, you better believe there will be one soon. There was no mention in either magazine that Schwarzenegger's deal included the actor starring in Terminator 4. [Originally appeared in The Hollywood Reporter, Variety.]

Afternoon, June 22, 2000... Variety has updated their breaking story about Schwarzenegger's T3 deal. Right now the T3 movie has been targeted for a release in summer of 2002. Sources within the Cameron camp have told them that the director will come on board only if the film winds up at Fox, due to the positive experience Cameron had working with them on Titanic. Finally, Variety was able to find out that the proposed script for T4 (assigned to screenwriter David Wilson) is still being written. The T3 script has already been completed. [Originally appeared in Variety; reported by Widgett.]

July 13, 2000... The future is not only state-of-the-art...it's female. That's the word from yesterday's Hollywood Reporter, who state that the battle to the finish this time will take place with Arnie taking on a female Terminator. Cameron has passed on sitting in the big chair, and the short list of directors who might sit in his place are enough to make readers' minds boggle with possibility. They report Christian Duguay, Roland Emmerich, David Fincher and Ridley Scott as all being on said list. No matter what, though, the Big A still gets to approve whoever will wind up in the chair. [Originally appeared in Hollywood Reporter; reported by Widgett; assistance from Brian Hester, Jeff Schafer, Frank Billington, Christian and the 'Biggest Name In Tinsel Town'.]

August 10, 2000... Eddie Furlong, who made his acting debut in 1991's Terminator 2: Judgement Day, has signed on to reprise his role in Terminator 3 according to Variety's Michael Fleming. There's been no word from C-2 Pictures whether the remaining two stars of T2, Linda Hamilton and Robert Patrick, are in negotiations or even if parts exist for them in Tedi Sarafian's screenplay. [Originally reported in Variety; phase plasma rifle loaned by 'Melchior'.]

August 24, 2000... Linda who? We've received an update from one of our long time scoopers who tells us Linda Hamilton's twin sister, Leslie Hamilton Gearren, has shown interest in taking on the role of Sarah Conner. Hamilton Gearren appeared briefly in a few scenes near the conclusion of T2 where it was required for two 'Sarahs' to be in the scene. Although we'd like to remind you that this is still unconfirmed information, it certainly sounds like an interesting solution to the problem. Stay tuned for more. [Thanks to 'C'; reported by Reg.]

August 29, 2000... Famousplayer sent in the following report on an article regarding potential director Duguay. Let's go to the videotape!

"The Friday August 25 issue of the Vancouver Sun features an article about Art of War director Christian Duguay and it quotes him as saying that he is not interested in making '...crappy sci-fi sequels.' Now, this could be in reference to his earlier movies Scanners II and Scanners III which he specifically called '...not very good.' However, the article does phrase this in such a way that he is likely referring to Terminator 3. Duguay is quoted as saying that his next piece will be a small Canadian film, hopefully to be shot in British Columbia.

"The verdict: Andrew Vajna's not gonna get Cameron for T3 and probably won't be getting Duguay either.

"To quote a friend, this whole T3 project smells of Robocop 2 and Jingle All The Way."

[Ouch. Originally appeared in The Vancouver Sun; Famousplayer filed the scoop.]

September 5, 2000... Here's one for the rumor basket. According to a report from Movie Headlines (who got it from a report at Yahoo), Arnold has been spotted far north of the border in Alaska. Headlines speculates that endo-skeletons battling in the snow would add to the rumor mill surrounding the production. When asked how the Terminator enjoyed his visit Arnold responded with the promise, "I'll be baahck.

We know by now that Arnold says this almost everywhere he visits so we're not betting the farm on this one. T3 in the snow does sound cool, though. [Thanks to MovieHeadlines, appeared at Yahoo; reported by Reg.]

September 6, 2000... One of our readers in Alaska can solve the mystery behind Schwarzenegger's appearance in their state. Alaska's largest daily newspaper, the Anchorage Daily News, had a front page article on Saturday regarding the actor's appearance in the town of Barrow on Thursday last week. The article states that the Schwarzenegger family flew in on a private jet and stayed at Barrow for a mere four hours as "part of his family's Alaska vacation". It also states that rumors of Schwarzenegger's appearance had been circulating for weeks...which does seems odd to both the reader and ourselves. Does this sound like a private, family vacation to you? [Northern exposure provided by 'JavaDevilYouAreMyBeeyotch'.]

October 12, 2000... In a recent interview with the L.A. Times, Arnold Schwarzenegger revealed his thoughts on a wide variety of topics including the film industry, politics, growing old, and his relationship with family. The interview also reveals this interesting T3 tid-bit:

"...In March, he'll start work on Terminator 3, in which he will battle a female android to the death...(Arnold's reaction) 'All of a sudden all these huge projects are coming so I'm having, in the meantime, a lot of fun with that.' "

[Appeared at L.A. Times; thanks to MovieHeadlines for the heads up; reported by Reg.]

This is the first mention in the traditional media of a new villain in T3. Previously, there had been only fan speculation about what sort of new adversary would face our heroes in the next Terminator film, and indeed one of the ideas batted around websites was that of a female Terminator. It should be noted that the Times story doesn't quote Schwarzenegger stating the villain will be a female Terminator, so until that news is officially released by C-2 Pictures or someone from the production is quoted in full, we're remaining skeptical about it.

October 15, 2000... Ain't It Cool takes a first hand look at the new T3 script. AICN has posted two options for reading: a spoiler review and a spoiler-free version. Here's a slice:

"...It’s hard to really delve into too much of the story without really spoiling some key moments in the script. So I’ll just say that Sarafian has indeed focused the story on Skynet’s rise from the ashes, so to speak, and its beginnings becoming A.I. It’s essentially a race against time for our heroes to literally try and beat the clock and destroy Skynet before they completely go A.I. and take control of the world’s computer systems, which include seizing and controlling the nation's nuclear weapons. This is the nightmare that haunts Sarah and the first step at eliminating mankind..."

For the complete story, click here. [Appeared at Ain't It Cool; reported by Reg.]

If that's not enough Terminator news for one day, TV Guide spoke with Edward Furlong and revealed:

"Actor Edward Furlong recently revealed that he is in talks to reprise his role as resistance leader John Connor in the second Terminator sequel. 'Right now, they're just kind of in the process of putting it together,' says the 22-year-old Furlong, who's currently out making the promotional rounds for his starring role in the Steve Buscemi-directed prison drama, Animal Factory. 'The script's great. I think it's going to be happening.'"

For the full report, click here. [Appeared at TV Guide; reported by Reg.]

October 29, 2000... This is one of those rumors we post just to acknowledge we've received it so we can quit receiving multiple copies of it. The subtitle of the film is supposed to be Rise of the Machines and the aforementioned aforerumored female Term is to be played by Julie Bowen (Happy Gilmore). There, we've posted it, we have no reason to believe it, and so far the only person who's mentioned source said The Sun out of the UK. Thanks. [Neo, T-800 and SSSHHHHHHH!!!!!!! were among those who sent word.]

However, in news that we can report with a certain amount of surety, the IMDB mentions that a British film group just bought into this project--for a few million pounds. They also say that producers still want Scott on board, and they also want filming to start in six months in the U.S. [Originally appeared at the IMDB.]

November 4, 2000... The latest news coming out of the IMDB reveals actress Linda Hamilton has, once and for all, put the rumors to rest and reconfirmed she will not be appearing in the upcoming Terminator 3 film. Hamilton mentions she was asked but turned down the opportunity to reprise her role as Sarah Conner. Instead, Hamilton has taken to the Los Angeles stage in a revival of the romantic mystery Laura at the Tiffany Theater. [Appeared at IMDB; reported by Reg, 'TimeTraveller', 'Neo' and 'Grason'.]

November 16, 2000... While making the rounds promoting his latest action movie The 6th Day, Arnold Schwarzenegger was quoted by The New York Post as saying this about the new Terminator we'll see in T3: "She can disappear, she can mold into someone else, and she is sometimes just an energy." [Scooped by Adrian; originally appeared in The New York Post.]

And no, we don't know why The Internet Movie Database lists David Fincher as the director for T3 -- but a bunch of you have noticed his addition to that page.

November 17, 2000... According to a report published in the Metro newspaper (which is free when you ride the subway/tubes in London, England), T3 is set to be the most expensive film ever made with a budget of £210million (that's over $300 million US!) And the paper says T3 would have cost even more if Schwarzenegger had not rejected early scripts and told writers he wanted costs to be cut.

"The two drafts I read were so big it would have cost £250million to make," Schwarzenegger is quoted in the paper as saying. "So now they're toning it down. I think we can do it on a football field somewhere so it doesn't cost that much."

$300 million? That's the first we've heard of that number -- which leads us to wonder how they'll be able to afford this movie in the first place!

November 18, 2000... Okay, put this in the pocket you reserve for completely wild-ass rumors. Do we buy it? Nah, not necessarily. We just think it would be cool if it were true. So with you fully prepared, we share with you this tidbit: "I heard from a friend who works at Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida who has ties with producer Mario Kassar that his dream female terminator in the third installation is Matrix star Carrie-Anne Moss." Like we said, we've got a huge honkin' slab of salt with this one, but picture for a second Moss wiping the floor with Arnie. Righteous. [Manuel Soto got us thinking. Takes a lot to do that these days.]

As for the last report we had regarding the boffo budget for this thing, cpenn wanted to throw this in: "Just a quick comment on your budget numbers for T3, I am by no means in the know, but British newspapers are horrendous for reporting on budgets - they usually just wildly guess, or just plain substitute the pound sign for the dollar sign. Odds are they really mean $210 million. Still expensive though..." [cpenn is suspicious. We respect that.]

November 20, 2000... Ah, thank you Scott. While leafing through a report that originally appeared in the New York Post, Scott Chitwood (aka co-creator of Movie Headlines.net found that the London Metro did screw up the conversion of the T3 budget: the Post reports Schwarzenegger as stating the picture would cost around $300 million US. [Scott Chitwood, resistance fighter.]

Now the IMDb has replaced David Fincher's name on the director's listing for T3 with John McTiernan. We love the guys at the IMDb, but we're pretty certain they're just following what their readers have submitted to them because so far no one has been officially hired for the part. McTiernan's name is nothing more than conjecture just as Fincher's was. [Rukas.]

November 30, 2000... So who gets to try and kick Arnie's butt in this film? Variety tells us that it might just be Famke Janssen (X-Men). They list Famke as the current frontrunner for the role of the much-talked-about female Terminator. [Originally appeared in Variety.]

December 12, 2000... Now you can add model Claudia Schiffer to the list of rumored actresses/models/wrestlers being considered for the role of the T-1G in T3. This latest report began -- where else? -- on the radio. 0900 News on 97.4 Rock FM (based in Preston U.K., near Manchester we're told) is being credited with broadcasting this one. ['Lawson's vote is for Carrie-Anne Moss.]

January 5, 2001... Add this project to the list of films feeling the pinch of the upcoming Strike. Rewrites are still continuing and Variety's Michael Fleming says this might mean a Post-Strike start for this flick. [Originally appeared in Variety.]

March 15, 2001... Linda Hamilton appeared on Fox News Broadcast this morning to promote her new movie Bailey's Mistake but she was also asked about her involvement with Terminator 3. Hamilton seemed pretty certain that she was not going to return for the sequel, saying, "Probably not." [Scooped by Tim.]

March 27, 2001... Variety reports that Jonathan Mostow (U-571) is in negotiations to sit in the chair for this one. Word is also that post-Strike you're going to see this thing finally kick off. [Originally appeared in Variety.]

May 23, 2001... According to information in USA Today, an evil female Terminator might be out and a good version in. They're saying that the script is looking like it will have another evil male Terminator to go up against The Big A, and Vin Diesel is the name they're tossing around. [Originally appeared in USA Today.]

June 19, 2001... Scribes John Brancato and Michael Ferris have been brought in to rewrite the script, and the way the article was written over at Variety, the female cyborg concept might just get pitched out the nearest window. We shall see. [Originally appeared at Variety.]

August 10, 2001... While giving an interview on a UK-based radio station, actor Jude Law said that he will be playing a villain in an upcoming Arnold Schwarzenegger movie. Law also said this same Arnie movie will also star "a leggy brunette". Could Law be talking about Terminator 3 (with the leggy brunette being the T-1G) or is he referring to True Lies 2? [Scooped by 'The Nemesis'.]

Demonic .

Terminator 3 zonder James Cameron

Famke Jansen is trouwens uit MIB2 gestapt ivm Familieproblemen. Ze gaat nu spelen naast Eddy Murphy in I Spy.

Ik heb inmiddels de trailer gezien

trailer

"She'll be back"

DEEL I = TOP
DEEL 2 = TOP

Nogmaals bovenstaande is mijn mening...

...Men in general judge more from appearances than from reality. All men have eyes, but few have the gift of penetration...

Greetz,

Terminator III

Daar verder.

In some matters there's no reality, only perception. Truth exists, but people have a vested interest in not knowing it.
