Onze held: Jimmy Glass!

Veteran striker Mark Robins gave Carlisle's goal-shy forwards an object lesson in finishing as Sheffield Wednesday stormed past the Cumbrians.
The much travelled Robins, making his Wednesday debut, grabbed a second half double to send the Owls comfortably through to the Northern area semi-finals of the LDV Vans Trophy.Central defender Graeme Lee gave Wednesday the lead right on the stroke of half time after Carlisle goalkeeper Matt Glennon had made a valiant attempt to keep out his header from a Laurie Wilson corner.
And from there Carlisle never looked like finding a way back into the game.
They had their fair share of the ball but failed to create many clear-cut chances before Robins got on the end of Grant Holt's cross to score with a stooping close-range header in the 77th minute.
It was the same pair who figured in Wednesday's third seven minutes later. Robins and Holt worked a neat move before Holt's low ball in from the right left his new colleague with the easiest of tap-ins from six yards.

Preece joins CarlisleCarlisle, 15 points adrift at the foot of Division Three, have signed veteran striker Andy Preece to aid their fight to beat the drop.
Preece lost his job as player-manager of Bury due to cost-cutting measures earlier this week. The 36-year-old has agreed a deal that will keep him at Brunton Park until the end of the season.
"He'll bring a huge amount of knowledge to the dressing-room," Carlisle boss Paul Simpson told his club's website.
"He is the type of player we need, one who can be in the right place at the right time."
Preece has scored 115 league goals in a career that has taken him to Wrexham, Stockport, Crystal Palace, Blackpool and Bury.

Carlisle 2-0 Torquay
Carlisle beat Torquay to claim only their second league win of the season.
After 16 minutes new signing Andy Preece fired Carlisle in front and Paul Arnison netted the second in some style with a 35-yard thunderbolt.Little went right for Torquay who had Tony Bedeau sent off after aiming an elbow at Carlisle defender Tom Cowan.
A cheeky goal from Martin Gritton, who robbed keeper Matt Glennon, was ruled out by a referee assistant's flag.

Carlisle player-manager Paul Simpson watched his side win their first game since he took over after beating Torquay 2-0 at Brunton Park.
New signing Andy Preece and Paul Arnison scored as Carlisle won only their second game of the campaign."I'm hoping that is the start of what we need - a long run that will get us out of the position we are in at the moment," said Simpson.
"For me it means I can have a bit of a smile on my face."
Simpson went on to add: "The whole of the back four were solid.
"Not only have we got the goals, which is fantastic, but we have go to clean sheet which I'm delighted about.
"Matty Glennon has made a couple of saves but apart from the last 10 or 15 minutes, where I thought we were sloppy, we just about got it right.
"We have worked hard but things could still be better," Simpson told the club's official website.

Carlisle consider legal action
Carlisle are considering legal action against Bury in a bid to play Andy Preece on Boxing Day.
Preece joined the Cumbrians last Friday after being sacked as player-manager by Bury as part of cost-cutting.Carlisle claim Bury would only release Preece's registration if they agreed not to pick him for Friday's game.
"Paul Simpson has been on the phone to Bury to try and sort it out, but it looks like Andy won't be playing on Boxing Day," said a Carlisle spokesman.
In order to sign Preece in time for last weekend's game against Torquay - in which the 36-year-old opened the scoring - Simpson reluctantly accepted the conditions of the agreement.
But Carlisle claim they had little option but to agree, and that Bury had no right to demand such a clause in the contract as Preece was a free agent.
"Paul has been on the phone to Bury to try and sort it out, but at the moment it looks like Andy won't be playing on Boxing Day," said a Carlisle spokesman.
"We will appeal to the Football League, and we are even looking at taking it to court because Andy should be allowed to play.
"Andy desperately wants to play. He's not very happy about it, Paul Simpson is not very happy about it and (chairman) John Courtenay is not very happy about it.
"We had to agree last week because Andy wouldn't have played against Torquay otherwise."
The Football League, who hold all players' registrations, claim they can do little to solve the dispute.
"Any agreement of this type is an agreement between the two clubs and does not form part of procedures of the League," said a spokesman.
"It is effectively a gentlemen's agreement between the clubs, so it is between them to sort it out."

Simpson hails 'massive' win
Carlisle boss Paul Simpson was delighted his team continued their good form with a 2-1 win over Boston.
After going behind, the Brunton Park men stole the three points thanks to a Ben Champman own goal and a Matty Fryatt strike on the hour mark. The victory means Carlisle now have 10 points from their last four games.
"That was a massive win for us. We've shown what spirit we have got inside the squad and we held out. We have to keep this run going," said Simpson.
"When we went behind I did think to myself - well here we go again.
"A few weeks ago we'd be looking round and wondering how on earth we were going to get back in to the game, but we don't have that now.
"We've taken the points total we set ourselves over Christmas but we've achieved absolutely nothing yet.
"A few weeks ago we were written off and we've brought ourselves back in to it.
"If we don't take the chance we've given ourselves then I'll be really disappointed. We just need to make sure we give it everything now," he told the club's official website.

Carlisle boss Paul Simpson saw his side's four-match unbeaten run end at York, and said: "We'll just have to make sure this is a blip."
The Cumbrians' recent revival ended, and they remain 10 points behind Southend in the last safety place in Division Three.Simpson added: "We've had a run where we've given ourselves a chance.
"We've got 20 games to play and we have to keep on scrapping."
"Results at the bottom have gone our way, so we're in the same position."We've got to make sure this performance is seen as the kick up the backside that might just get us back in the right frame of mind again.
"We can't feel sorry for ourselves, we've got to work hard and make sure things come right again.
"There are a lot of disappointed players and we have to see how they respond."

"I'll be speaking to Hartlepool about a deal and hopefully we can reach an agreement," he told BBC Radio Cumbria.

Carlisle United - Yeovil 2-0
Goals from player-manager Paul Simpson and Craig Farrell either side of half-time saw Carlisle's revival continue with a vital win over Yeovil.
Yeovil dominated the match against the league's rock-bottom club but failed to convert their chances.Kevin Gall screwed wide in the opening stages at Brunton Park and it was Simpson who broke the deadlock in the 21st minute.
With 15 minutes left Farrell sealed the win slotting home from a tight angle.

Simpson has master-minded a remarkable fightback by the Nationwide League's bottom club, who looked relegation certainties until Christmas.
And the player-manager, who led from the front by scoring the opening goal in Saturday's win over Yeovil, admits that the injection of fresh blood has played a major part in reviving survival hopes.
"That's been the big difference. It's not just a case of the new players being better than the ones we have got. They have brought a different attitude to the place," said Simpson.
"They have not been in this situation, like our other players, for the last few years.
"They have come in and given the lads a different belief. And the players who had been under-achieving earlier in the season have a new lease of life and are playing with more confidence.
"We have got a decent blend now with some good fighters in there, and that's making a difference."
Simpson's signings of experienced campaigners Andy Preece, Kevin Gray and Tom Cowan, as well as teenage striker Matty Fryatt on loan from Walsall, have coincided with a run of four wins and a draw in Carlisle's last six games.
Preece has been linked with the potential vacancy at former club Blackpool, where manager Steve McMahon is not happy with the club's current situation.
But while ex-Bury boss Preece has a clause in his contract allowing him to speak to clubs offering a coaching or management position, Simpson hopes the 36-year-old striker will stay at Brunton Park.
"We have asked Andy to keep us informed if anything comes up," added Simpson.
"But he's enjoying himself here. He's got nothing else to worry about other than himself and playing, which he is doing very well."
Preece's only goal for the club came on his debut in the win over Torquay on December 20, which kick-started Carlisle's resurgence.
But the former Crystal Palace and Stockport frontman has struck up an effective partnership with Fryatt and helped galvanise the team.
"We have given ourselves a bit of a fighting chance," said Simpson.
"Before Christmas we were getting a hell of a lot of press coverage because everyone was feeling sorry for us.
"Now we've had a few results we're getting coverage because people are starting to believe we might get out of it.
"The supporters have stuck with us all along but that support is getting even better now because we are giving them something to smile about.
"But we're still seven points from safety, and that's a hell of a lot.
"We've got to make sure we carry this on. We have 19 games left and we have keep scrapping and batting away for everything we can. Hopefully then we'll get our reward."

quote:Simpson's rallying call
Carlisle boss Paul Simpson believes the Cumbrians still hold their destiny in their own hands as he plots the next chapter of their Great Escape.
The club could yet preserve their League status after the drop loomed after less than half the season.
Carlisle play Kidderminster next as they try to close a five-point gap.
"This weekend is a big one for us, and if we can get the results we want that will take us onto the next phase," Simpson told BBC Sport.
"It depends on ourselves. If we get the results ourselves, I would expect two teams to fall below us.
"If everybody else wins their games we know we are down, but I don't expect that to happen.
"We are in a different situation to most teams around the bottom. We are actually in good form and other sides are struggling. Hopefully it will continue that way."
Simpson believes seven teams from Scunthorpe down are involved in the relegation scrap, with Carlisle still one of them despite winning just one of their first 21 games of the season.
"A lot of people didn't think we would still be in it at this stage and a lot had written us off.
"But we will keep battling for as long as it takes," added United's player-manager.
"At the end of November, middle of December looking at our situation we could have been breaking all records for the lowest number of points and earliest relegation.
"But we have surprised everybody and kept battling away and now we are five points away from three teams, and six from another."
Carlisle have lost just five of their last 19 games and in recent signing Peter Duffield have a striker capable of keeping the fight alive.
The Brunton Park club is no stranger to close calls, having finished in the bottom three in five of the last six seasons.
Staying up this time would be just as miraculous as keeper Jimmy Glass's last-minute heroics in 1999 when his goal sent Scarborough down instead.
But Simpson, who has been attempting to stop the rot since being placed in charge at the end of August, warns that the supporters must not take salvation for granted.
He added: "In our situation it just takes a quick look at the table to see we are not all right.
"Regardless of the run we have had since we beat Torquay in December, we have remained bottom of the league.
"From being 22 points behind everybody we have done very well to get into the position we are in now.
"We have got to make sure the work we have done up to now is not wasted by going down, and that will be determined over the next six games.
"If we can finish 22nd by one point or one goal that would be absolutely fantastic, and that's the only thing we are thinking about."

Farrell got on the end of Kevin Langmead's pass to blast the ball home 12 minutes from time.
Carlisle dominated the match but a combination of poor finishing and the woodwork looked like denying them maximum points.
Andy Preece struck the post early on while United player-boss Paul Simpson missed some long-range efforts.

stand onderinquote:Leyton Orient 1-1 Carlisle
Brendan McGill's 80th-minute equaliser earned Carlisle a point.
Orient captain Gary Alexander shaved a post with a 67th-minute shot before firing in his 14th league goal of the season during a penalty-area scramble.
Home goalkeeper Lee Harrison saved from Peter Murphy and Mark Boyd shot just over before McGill grabbed his goal.
Both teams had men sent off - Orient's Warren Hunt for two yellow cards and Carlisle's Kevin Gray for an off-the-ball incident.

Carlisle player-manager Paul Simpson is doubtful because of a calf injury and will undergo a late fitness test as the Cumbrians look for three vital points.
Tom Cowan should keep his place in the starting line-up after recovering from a hamstring injury.
Lincoln manager Keith Alexander is expected to name an unchanged side.
The Imps have no new injuries or bans as they push for a promotion place, with Niall McNamara (thigh) still the only absentee.
quote:Simpson still optimistic
Carlisle player-boss Paul Simpson knows his side must bounce back quickly from their defeat by Lincoln to keep their survival hopes alive.
"We must get back to playing with the relaxed attitude that has been so effective for us," Simpson said.
"Mansfield's fans will put their side under pressure on Saturday as they need and expect a win against us.
"It's up to us to make sure they don't have an easy afternoon - we still have a chance to get out of trouble."
quote:York 1 - Yeovil 2
Yeovil moved back into the play-offs with a win which hits York's chances of keeping their Football League place.
The Glovers clinched the points in the 65th minute when impressive right-back Andy Lindegaard volleyed home.
York, who have now gone 17 games without a win, went ahead on eight minutes through Darren Dunning's deflected free-kick.
But Yeovil equalised just 50 seconds into the second half when Paul Terry volleyed past keeper Mark Ovendale.
Carlisle's survival hopes have been hit by their failure to overturn a ban for key defender Kevin Gray.
Gray was dismissed for violent conduct in Carlisle's draw at Leyton Orient on Easter Monday.
The Cumbrians launched an appeal against the decision based on video evidence.
However, the decision of referee Clive Penton has been upheld by the FA's advisory panel so Gray will now miss games against Cheltenham and Doncaster.

Carlisle chairman John Courtenay says both he and manager Paul Simpson will stay at the club even if they are relegated into the Conference.
"Whatever happens in these last two games I am going nowhere," he told the club's website.
"I am not running out - I will be here to see this through. On the same theme Simmo is going nowhere.
"He is on contract and there would be no way I would release him - he is fully involved and doing a great job."

Substitute Kayode Odejayi's late header condemned Carlisle to the Conference for the first time in their history.
Brendan McGill, who converted Andy Preece's miskicked shot, had given them hope of taking their survival fight to the final day of the season.
But Lee Andrews headed Damian Spencer's effort off the line and Odejayi scored off the bar from the following corner.
The goal was a hammer blow for the majority of the 9,500 fans - the biggest home attendance of the season.
Carlisle narrowly avoided relegation in four out of the last four years, and a dismal start to this campaign saw manager Roddy Collins lose his job.
Paul Simpson took charge at the end of August and, although he inspired an improvement in the second half of the season, it was not enough.
A win would have set up the possibility of another unlikely escape act on the final day of the season, but that will not happen now.
