ik heb een heleboel "flardes" in mn hoofd, maar kom niet echt op een titel van een film, of een bekend gezicht.

******** seems the embodiment of physical energy, always pounding on things and leaping about. (He does a demented dance with some kind of luminous cutting tool.) He's also a thief and a doper who introduces her to coke. Her father is a grim, old-fashioned Irish patriarch, well played by ********, who lives with Kathleen's mother in a shabby working-class house, drinks, disapproves of "bra-burners" and his daughter's life style and bids her farewell as she strikes out on her own with, "You'll never make it on your own!" The social worker, a reasonably sensitive guy, is played as someone with antiquarian values, a practically impotent fool who believes in love and thinks sex is an important issue. She complains that he's taken her out five or six times without even kissing her.

I saw this film last year and I was completely blown away. It's amazing to see how meticulously Teresa's double life has been put together. The scenes are tightly knit in such a way as to not only emphasize the differences between Teresa's multiple roles (patient and kind teacher, lover of many, disco-freak, junkie) but also to steadily bring the story to an unforgettable climax. ************* is great in a demanding role and should have been nominated for an Academy award.

I saw this film late night last summer while I sat in bed, with the boyfriend passed out beside me. I think if he had been awake I probably would not have paid attention to the film, but being as it was.. I was in for one of the most disturbing late night movies of my life. The drugs and promiscuity were no surprise tome,I unfortunately see it all the time in my generation,but I was moved by her working with the children, and most impressed with the portrayal of the kids. Children DO sense when something has changed or isn't right. But the big shock for me was the ending. I didn't see that coming, especially not from Tom's character. I found it most upsetting, especially how she was actually moaning and getting into it as he was murdering her. To this day I am haunted by the fading image of her dead,surprised face flashing in a strobe effect. And I am scared to death.

Maar als niemand er uit lijkt te komen kan ik misschien beter het antwoord geven. Volgens mij is het een zeer bekende/beroemde film uit de jaren 70, met zeer bekende spelers erin. Helemaal na dat laatste comment zou iedereen die de film gezien heeft het moeten weten.

"After all these years, I think I like this film more and more as time goes by. Maybe if I saw it today for the first time I wouldn't be so impressed, but since it is a childhood memory it has a special place in my heart. This movie is really good! The plot is very original, the acting is decent, and the whole film looks very low-budget; it looks kind of grimy which I think is the intent. There are a few slow spots and you can't ignore the exaggerated 's atmosphere! There are also a few cheesy lines of dialogue, but overall this is an intelligently made movie."

Die cruciale momenten waar ik het over had is eerst waar Pat te horen krijgt dat Kat bij het Letters to cleo concert is en haar daar tegenkomt waar zij totaal verbaasd over is... en als tweede op het schoolfeest waar Kay een nummer meezingt met Save Ferris en nog even naar Kat toe komt lopen, waar ze weer verbaasd is .

It's about time a film is released in which the main character is not only female, but a slightly overweight female. Because, and those hypnotized by the media be prepared to gasp, not all women are a size 3! Who's to say that a woman can't be pretty while having a few extra pounds? I think (rechtse actrice) is a very pretty girl, not to mention she has charm. In everyday society, there are overweight guys and girls who have dating lives! In this film, her eventual love interest is a skinny white guy. That's not unusual. Unfortunately, media possesses us into assuming that the only types of relationships involve pretty guys and pretty girls. I'm sure even in California that isn't always the truth, despite its reputation for being Land of the Beautiful People.

I like how the film depicts the girl's mom and her hypocritical attitudes towards her daughter's obesity. Throughout the film, I never understood why her much more overweight mother was criticizing her daughter for being a big fat pig. But this happens in real life! Later in the film, the mother even says, "I'm married. I have the right to be fat." Parents can have those attitudes, unfortunately. And like in the film, they don't hesitate to humiliate their sons and daughters in public for having a certain problem like obesity.

If you want to see a good, solid, entertaining low-budget indie gem that'll make you think and make you laugh, then this is definitely the film for you! It's one of the most original films I've seen come out in a while.

In die user comment stond dat de moeder vaak gecast wordt als huishoudster / dienstmeid enzo.
Ik dacht de hele tijd dat het Joan Plowright was, maar die heeft maar 1 keer een buitenlandse vrouw gespeeld, en dat was in "I Love You To Death". Dus ik liep de hele tijd vast.
Toen zag ik ineens de huishoudster voor me van "The Goonies" one of my personal favorites.
En "Real Women Have Curves" was afgelopen tijd in ons FilmHuis, ben er niet naartoe geweest, maar wist dat die actrice daar inzat plus de user comments over het vrouwelijk lichaam, kwam ik op "Real Women Have Curves"

Hoe is de film trouwens? (Tot nu toe dan...)

omdat ik las in de filmografie van Lupe Ontiveros (de linkse actrice) dat ze in The Goonies had gespeeld (en ook in As Good As it Gets), wist ik dat ze bekend moest zijn.

De acteur George Lopez is minder bekend en America Ferrara niet.

Wij zouden naar bed gaan dus zou er geen nieuwe vraag komen. Toen kwam Booze met een vraag en zowel Khalein als ik wisten het antwoord. Was gewoon een filmvraag en die is gewoon goed beantwoord op het moment dat er geen andere vraag open stond.

The only part that raised a giggle was the sight of 's huge wet lips close up on the big screen slurring the words "Lessssssssss geughhhhhhwwwwwwwwwwwwwww" (let's go, that is!) and apart from that the only part to raise a round of applause as I watched this movie in a Liverpool, England cinema was the part when someone threw a sticky chewing gum at the big screen and everyone clapped and cheered as it caught itself on its decent down the screen !"

"If Nothing else, This film certainly deserves points for its Ambitiousness. Director seems to be trying to make this a Good film, despite the fact that he has to work with a Poor story and awful performances.

This is the Kind of film you forget about the moment you walk out of the theatre.And in the Case of this film, It would be amazing if you ever thought about it again.

Firstly and give awful performances... is so bad that he comes off as more amusing than terrifying...and is all wrong for this film,He simply cant do a Dramatic role,(and the scene where He trys to pretend he is left me in Stitches). isnt to bad,although her and are so mismatched in this film,that I can hardly imagine her spending 18 Years crying over him.

certainly made a Mistake doing this film,He gets a Huge demerit for this one.And some of the Effects in this film look downright cheesy.And a Lot of the Direction is poor.The Film have some Funny moments,But it is all a letdown.

When it was release in early 1992...I rushed out to see it...Mostly at the prospect of seeing play a baddie...that was a Mistake..I didnt mind the Film,But I expected much Better

Storyline -- good idea. Interesting concept of the wealthy grabbing a body in which to insert their consciousness. (1) casting was terrible. is very wrong for the part, almost like a little kid in a role that was made for a more mature man. was hilarious in the sense that he couldn't act at all and in virtually every scene he obviously forced emotions. I liked his unconvincing "I'm so mean and ruthless face." He should live in NY and then he'll look the part. Wonder why we haven't seen him in another film? Buster Poindexter? Please... did Hollywood think that it would get a bunch of famous faces who don't act and throw this picture to the public? Pathetic. did her job and was probably the best in this otherwise dismal display of acting. (2) Effects... some not bad but the movie had a cheap made for TV cheapo look. This could have been made much better. (3) Script was mediocre and could have been better. Probably made worse by the acting. RESULT: Somewhat entertaining, definitely not worth more than one look on video...
