zegt u het maar:And all the fighting scenes were horrible. It was some lame rip off from Gladiator except they couldn't show the blood and gore because it was PG-13. And the girl served no other purpose but to walk around in very skimpy outfits. I thought it was too skimpy for its PG-13 rating.
Nog een ussercomment:
The movie is a classic action-adventure movie with a comic relief. Great looking women and sexy muscular men. Bad vs good, no surprises in the script but good use of special effects. Instead of letting the CG effects take over the movie are they there merely to support the story and make it more interesting.

One of the better martial arts action films I've ever seen. And when the action stops, the acting is strong enough to keep you interested. With remarkable cinematography, well paced editing and unnoticable wirework, this is a movie that anyone who likes well designed action should enjoy. If only it was available in North America.
Overall it was a nice movie. The choreography that Donnie Yen did was first class, loved it. The movie could have had more fights in it to make it more exciting, but I loved it a lot and it's one NOT to be missed.

I was amazed by the visual style of the movie. Every frame seems to be lika a painting.
Donnie Yen's action choreography is awesome and the action scenes are very beautiful in every way.
This movie is one of the best action movies I've seen (and I've seen A LOT of action movies) and it means that it really is great movie, with great actors and great music (Kenji Kawai).

I just bought the special limited "premium" edition to this fantastic future action-thriller, and upon opening the case, found that it is due for release in the US. If you haven't heard of it, I wouldn't be surprised; it's a cult flick really. A two-parter at that. (Second part hasn't been released in theaters yet.) Though, there is a British translated DVD (PAL), by the same company that released Ring on DVD, and it has garnered praise at international movie festivals.
Starring the mega-cute Yumi Shaku, the tough female pilot of Mecha-Godzilla in the recent 2003 version, it's a remake of a manga written nearly 20 years ago or more. A twist on the title 
, it tales the tale of a Japan 500 years into the future, populated by a down-trodden people and bands of assassins who sell themselves to the highest bidder. Yumi plays Yuki, an assassin in the House of Takemikazuchi, until she learns from a stranger, that her mother was murdered by the current leader of the clan and her life has been a lie.
Actually, I'm not impressed with the title. It's good, but shura translates as "battlefield carnage", and I think "Carnage Queen" would be a better title. Never mind that she's not an actual "queen", and granted the word hime does mean "princess", but for this flick, I think it stands out. My reasons are two-fold. One, she leaves behind nothing but corpses, and two, the world she lives in seems to have been ravaged.
In any case, watch for it. It's an awesome flick! But be warned, as I said, it's a two-parter, and might leave audiences not in possession of that knowledge, scratching their heads at the ending.
