F-16 fighter jets donated by Denmark are "working in Ukraine," Danish PM Mette Frederiksen told the Globsec conference in Prague on Aug. 31.

In response to a question from the Kyiv Independent, Frederiksen said she was "extremely proud" the aircraft were in use, adding she had wanted to send them "from the beginning of the war."

"We had a long discussion about whether it’s a good idea or not," she added, in reference to the months-long debate among Ukraine's Western allies over whether or not to provide Kyiv with F-16s.

Frederiksen said Ukrainian pilots at the controls of the jets were "doing a good job," but added: "Unfortunately, we lost one of them recently."

Ukraine's General Staff confirmed on Aug. 29 that an F-16, which had been recently delivered to the country and was being operated by pilot Oleksii Mes, had crashed while defending against a mass Russian drone and missile attack against the country on Aug. 26.

Mes was killed in the crash.

Ukraine received its first F-16s at the beginning of August, a year after its allies formed the fighter jet coalition at the NATO summit in Vilnius to support Kyiv with training and aircraft.

This first batch was reported at the time to have been supplied by the Netherlands. It is not clear if these initial reports were incorrect, or if there have been further deliveries since.

When asked specifically if Danish F-16s could be used on Russian territory in Kursk Oblast, Frederiksen said her government was "not putting restrictions on F-16s as long as it’s within international law."

"I will not comment on specific operations," she added.

On the night of August 31-September 1, Russians fired Iskander missiles at farm equipment that was passed off as a military convoy.

A Russian missile strike on three different areas of Ukraine’s second city Kharkiv has injured at least 44 people, the Kharkiv Prosecutor General’s Office said on Sunday.

According to Kharkiv Governor Oleh Synyehubov, the barrage of missiles struck the Kharkiv Sports Palace, a shopping centre in the Saltivskyi district and a residential building in the city’s Kyiv district.

The Russian military had “attacked in broad daylight places where hundreds of Kharkiv residents go every day,” Synyehubov said in a subsequent post, adding: “This is real terrorism!”

The Armenian authorities have decided to freeze their participation in the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO).

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced this during a press conference, answering a question about the possibility of Armenia’s withdrawal from the organization.

“The Republic of Armenia has frozen its participation in the CSTO at all levels. We consider this decision to be sufficient at this stage,” Pashinyan said, adding that this issue can be discussed.

The Armenian Prime Minister stressed that he personally respects all points of view, but the country’s authorities have decided to freeze its participation in the organization.

Pashinyan added that Armenia currently sees no need to make another decision on the CSTO, but this does not mean that it will not happen in the future.

Using First Person View (FPV) Uncrewed Aircraft Systems (UAS), troops are learning how to use these one-way aircraft to deliver munitions onto targets.

The Ukrainian armed forces have been using similar tactics against Russian military vehicles with good effect.

Soldiers from 16 Air Assault Brigade ran a screening session at Merville Barracks in Colchester to find troops among its existing UAS pilots with the aptitude to join the jHub Drone Academy and develop their skills.

"This is a military skill that we can develop through a competitive hobby," said Sergeant Adam Barnes of 2nd Battalion the Parachute Regiment.

DPRK's assistance to Russia
