quote:Romania denies visas to Russian delegation to OSCE PA
Romania refused to issue visas to the entire Russian delegation to the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly session in Bucharest, citing Russia's aggression against Ukraine.
Romanian authorities have refused to issue visas to a Russian delegation to attend a session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE PA) in Bucharest. This was announced by Russian Senator Grigory Karasin in his telegram channel, UNN reports .
Details
He said that Russia had received a note from the Romanian Foreign Ministry.
The document states that in view of "Russian aggression against Ukraine," none of the members of the Russian delegation will be issued a visa or allowed to enter the country.
The OSCE PA session is scheduled for the end of June.

EU members will not be for now directly involved in a $50 billion loan for Ukraine, as they will instead focus on developing the guarantee mechanism, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni said on June 15.
The loan, which was announced during a G7 summit on June 13 with the pledge to deliver it to Ukraine by the end of the year, is backed by revenues from frozen Russian assets.
"The loan of about $50 billion has already been announced (and will) be provided by the United States, as well as Canada, the United Kingdom, and probably Japan, within the limits of its constitutional constraints," Meloni said at a press conference at the end of the summit.
"Currently, European nations are not involved in this loan, also considering the fact that the assets are all mobilized in Europe," she said, adding that EU members will instead focus on providing a guarantee mechanism for repaying the loan.
Western countries have frozen $300 billion in Russian assets at the start of the full-scale war, with roughly two-thirds being held in Europe.
The technical aspects of the loan are yet to be decided by EU finance ministers, Meloni added. During the summit, G7 leaders agreed to launch the Extraordinary Revenue Acceleration (ERA) mechanism to deliver the loan.
An American official told Reuters that Washington was authorized by Congress to cover $50 billion but hopes that other countries will contribute as well. Canada said it is ready to provide $5 billion for the loan.

HAVANA, June 14 (Reuters) - A Canadian navy patrol ship sailed into Havana early on Friday, just hours after the United States announced a fast-attack submarine had docked at its Guantanamo naval base in Cuba, both vessels on the heels of Russian warships that arrived on the island earlier this week.
The confluence of Russian, Canadian and U.S. vessels in Cuba - a Communist-run island nation just 145 km (90 miles) south of Florida - was a reminder of old Cold War tensions and fraught ties between Russia and Western nations over the Ukraine war.
However, both the U.S. and Cuba have said the Russian warships pose no threat to the region. Russia has also characterized the arrival of its warships in allied Cuba as routine.
The Admiral Gorshkov frigate and the nuclear-powered submarine Kazan, half submerged with its crew on deck, sailed into Havana harbor on Wednesday after conducting "high-precision missile weapons" training in the Atlantic Ocean, Russia's defence ministry said.
Canada`s Margaret Brooke patrol vessel began maneuvers early on Friday to enter Havana harbor, part of what the Canadian Joint Operations Command called "a port visit ... in recognition of the long-standing bilateral relationship between Canada and Cuba."
Hours earlier, the U.S. Southern Command said the fast-attack submarine Helena had arrived on a routine port visit to Guantanamo Bay, a U.S. naval base on the tip of the island around 850 km (530 miles) southeast of Havana.
"The vessel's location and transit were previously planned," Southern Command said on X.

Wijnand Herinckx.
Nike stopped selling its sportswear to Russia soon after Moscow launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine over two years ago. But that hasn’t stopped footballstore.ru, an online sports retailer owned by Russia’s Zenit soccer club.
Among the dozens of Nike-branded items the site offers are the U.S. sportswear maker’s Phantom GT2 Elite soccer boots, for 29,999 roubles, or around $330.
The man who got these shoes to Russia is Wijnand Herinckx, a 40-year-old Dutch citizen who lives in Moscow. Since the conflict began, Herinckx has built a thriving business that provides Russian consumers with Western goods whose makers have pulled out of Russia.
“Nike does not want their products to be shipped to Russia,” Herinckx told Reuters in a video call from his office on the outskirts of Moscow, where shelves are stacked with boxes of Western branded footwear. But he added: “They are also not telling us not to do it.”

quote:Zelenskyy: Action plan will be communicated to Russia to ensure war's end at second Peace Summit
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has stated that the action plan agreed upon at the Global Peace Summit in Switzerland will be communicated to Russian representatives so that the second Peace Summit can ensure the real end of the war.
Source: Zelenskyy's speech at the first plenary session of the Global Peace Summit
Quote: "There is no Russia here today. Why? Because if Russia were interested in peace, there would be no war. We must decide together what a just peace means for the world and how it can be achieved in a truly lasting way. The UN Charter is the basis for us.
And then, when the action plan is on the table, agreed upon by all and transparent to the nations, then it will be communicated to the representatives of Russia, so that we can put a real end to the war at the second peace summit."
Details: Zelenskyy noted that 101 states and international organisations were present at the summit.
"We managed to avoid one of the most terrible things – the division of the world into opposing blocs. There are representatives from Latin America, Africa, the Middle East, Asia, the Pacific, and North America, and religious leaders. 101 attendees. And no one has the privilege of deciding for another. This is a real multipolarity," he said.
Zelenskyy added that every state not represented at the summit "but which shares the same values in deeds and words, will be able to join our work in the further stages of the Peace Formula".
"The very idea of war has already lost. Putin must move from the language of ultimatums to the language of the world majority that is seeking a just peace," the president further noted.

In a special investigation, Tom Watling tells the story of five teenagers who were taken into Russia or Russian-occupied territory before eventually being rescued. Many others are still believed to be trapped

Anastasiia Motychak did not know why Irina – the person in charge of her camp in Russian-occupied Crimea – had just slapped her across the face; she just knew she missed her mum and wanted to go home to the Ukrainian city of Kherson.
It had been two months since the then 15-year-old had been put on a bus and moved from the then Russian-occupied Kherson, in southern Ukraine, to a two-week “vacation camp” in Yevpatoria, western Crimea. Kherson was no place for a child, the Russian soldiers had warned.
Days later, Ukrainian forces liberated the city. But by then, Anastasiia was 150 miles deeper into occupied territory, sleeping in a room with barred windows.
Living in areas held by different military forces, she and her mother soon struggled to communicate; the cell lines between the two cities had been cut.
Then Irina showed up.
The short-tempered teacher would glare at Anastasiia and swear at the children. None of them knew why.
One January evening, after Anastasiia had returned from a walk – something she was allowed to do – her roommate pulled her into their room and told her Irina was looking for her.
Confused, the teenager poked her head out of her room to see if Irina was near. She was.
“She grabbed me and took me into a room nearby,” the teen recalls. “She started swearing, telling me that I would never return home. She said she was sick of me. She said that if I did anything like this again, she would call the police and send me to the Ural mountains in Russia. Then she closed the door and she slapped me across the face.”
Anastasiia still doesn’t know what she did wrong.

quote:Zelenskyy meets with Argentine president and awards him Order of Freedom
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has met with Argentine President Javier Milei at the Global Peace Summit in Switzerland.
Source: Ukrainian president’s website
Details: Zelenskyy thanked Milei for participating in the Peace Summit and noted the broad representation of Latin American countries at the event.
"I am very glad to see you here. I know that your journey to the Summit was long. But I am confident that history will remember this long path to peace. I am grateful to you," Zelenskyy said.
The presidents discussed next steps to implement certain points of the Peace Formula.
"We support Ukraine," Milei said. "We believe that no one has the right to attack another country. Now we have only one aggressor – Russia – and the state that has been invaded is Ukraine. We strongly support Ukraine, as we emphasised in our address [at the Peace Summit – ed.]."
Zelenskyy also thanked Argentina for recently joining the International Coalition for the Return of Ukrainian Children.
The leaders discussed bilateral cooperation, particularly in trade, and the implementation of previous agreements, and stressed that contact between the two nations would continue at various levels.
Zelenskyy awarded the President of Argentina the Order of Freedom.
