Israeli Airstrikes Kill at Least 13 in Gaza, Palestinians Say
At least three of the dead were leaders in Islamic Jihad, the group said. Officials reported that at least 10 civilians, including children, were killed in the strikes, which Israel said had hit the planners of attacks.

Vreemd dat ze er niet bij vermelden dat het 2 leden van PIJ waren die met een auto vol anti tank raketten op weg waren naar een lanceerplaats 🤔

Allereerste keer dat David Sling wordt gebruikt ipv Iron Dome

Ik heb zo vaag het vermoeden dat Israel stiekem ook diverse technologieen aan het uittesten zijn. De 2021 Gaza oorlog bleek achteraf de eerste AI oorlog te zijn omdat ze meerdere drones hadden rondvliegen die realtime targets konden localiseren die zij weer relatief snel konden terugpakken. We zijn nu 2 jaar verder en dat zal wel verder verbeterd zijn, tijd voor een nieuwe test!

Verder is Iron Beam sinds vorig jaar definitief uit. Begin 2022 was er nog een grote test waarin ze bewezen dat het werkte onder gecontroleerde omstandigheden, later in 2022 kwam Joe Biden op bezoek en hij kreeg toen ook een demo van wat het kan. We zijn nu een jaar verder en het is tijd om het onder echte omstandigheden te testen met Iron Dome als backup.

Verder zijn ze sinds 2019 ofzoiets overgestapt op hun eigen Puls systeem wat een verbeterde versie van de Himars is. Dit systeem heeft binnen de IDF de andere artillery systemen vervangen en tevens zijn er ook minder bemande F16 vluchten boven Gaza nodig.

Dus ik denk dat naast PIJ terugpakken voor die 100+ raketten van vorige week en de constante stroom van aanslagen vanuit de Westbank dit ook een gecontroleerde test van hun wapentechnologie en oorlogvoeringmethodiek is. Al zullen ze dit natuurlijk nooit hardop bekennen (ja uh... die doden aan de Gaza kant zijn mede omdat we wapens willen uittesten).

En ze moeten sowieso hun oorlogsmachine verder optimaliseren voor hun aanstaande oorlog met Iran/Hezbollah/Hamas/PIJ in 2024~25

Assassinations of PIJ leaders ‘sticking point’ in reach truce: AJ correspondent
Al Jazeera’s Mohammed Jamjoom reporting from West Jerusalem says according to media reports, the assassination of PIJ leaders was a “sticking point” when it came to reaching a potential ceasefire.

“It seems based on what we’re hearing from Israeli government officials and in Israeli media, is that PIJ would like to get assurances – that if there is a ceasefire, that their leadership won’t continue to be targeted by the Israelis,” he said.

“And it seems as though Israel is not going to make that concession. This is all very interesting – because in the past couple of weeks we’ve heard a lot more talk about the potential for Israel to begin doing more targeted assassinations against leadership figures in the Palestinian factions in the Gaza Strip.”

“This is something that really changes the equation right now,” Jamjoon added.

Israel kills another top Islamic Jihad commander in Gaza City airstrike

An Israeli airstrike in the Gaza Strip on Friday afternoon killed a senior Palestinian Islamic Jihad member, the sixth since the latest round of hostilities began earlier this week.

The strike near Gaza City that killed Iyad al-Hassani, along with another man the military said was his assistant, dealt yet another blow to the terror group and further dampened hopes for a ceasefire.

In a joint statement, the Israel Defense Forces and Shin Bet security agency said al-Hassani was a top official in the group’s military council, in charge of its operations department. In recent days, he had also replaced the head of Islamic Jihad in northern Gaza, Khalil Bahtini, who was killed in an Israeli strike on Tuesday morning.

The Israel Defense Forces says it is carrying out a new wave of airstrikes in the Gaza Strip following the rocket barrages on southern and central Israel.

In Libanon raakt het geduld met Syrische vluchtelingen snel op. De regering doet er alles aan om de Syriërs weg te pesten. Correspondent Melvyn Ingleby bezocht een vluchtelingenkamp dat net met de grond gelijk was gemaakt.
