In de kroeg van Met het mes op tafel pokeren drie kandidaten met de antwoorden op vragen. Niet alleen kennis is van belang, maar ook rekenen en slim spelen. Wie weinig antwoorden goed heeft, kan proberen zijn tegenstanders weg te bluffen. De winnaar van de finale gaat naar huis met de pot en een bonus van 1500 euro.
Met het mes op tafel is geen gelikte quiz. De presentator kan sluw spel en laf passen best waarderen. En er valt nog eens wat te beleven: Klaas van Dijk speelt een thema uit vervlogen tijden of Herman spit een rap.
