After eight days in the courtroom, it’s official: Josh Duggar has been found guilty.
The verdict came in on Thursday morning, following a jury deliberation that lasted over two days. Josh— who was arrested back in April and charged with “receiving and possessing child p0rnography”
Josh was in the courtroom as the “guilty” verdict was read in front of many of his family members, including his wife Anna and his father Jim Bob.
The Ashley, who has been in Arkansas covering the trial, has provided live updates each day of the trial.
UPDATE 1:
According to KNWA, Judge Brooks stated that Josh’s sentencing will happen in four months or so (around April 2022). Josh was handcuffed and taken into custody after the verdict was announced so it’s apparent he will not be going home between now and sentencing.
The Sun reports that Judge Brooks did acknowledge that Josh has been very cooperative throughout this trial; despite this, though, the law states that he still must be detained before sentencing.
“Mr. Duggar 100 percent has been compliant awaiting trial,” Judge Brooks told the court. “I appreciate that and I wanted to acknowledge that. However because of the guilty offenses, he must be detained regardless of flight risk so there will be a mandatory detention. The marshals will set that up.”

According to The Sun, Josh had a “solemn” reaction as the verdict was read. “[He was] teary-eyed but not crying,” the in-court reporter wrote.
He was handcuffed immediately after the verdict was read.

After the verdict was read, the prosecution attorneys made statements outside the courthouse, answering reporters’ questions regarding the verdict and case.

En schuldig verklaard op beide aanklachten, dus dat kan in de VS gewoon 40 jaar worden.
Daar doen ze meestal niet aan tegelijkertijd uitzitten, zoals in NL.
In NL zijn het eigenlijk altijd concurrent sentences, terwijl in de VS vaak sprake is van consecutive sentences.

Anna en Josh wilden niet meewerken aan het ondervragen en onderzoeken van hun kinderen. Nu Josh veroordeeld is wordt child protective services automatisch ingelicht (vanwege de aard van de zaak) en heeft Anna geen keuze meer. Sterker nog, waar ze eerder nog bij de ondervragingen en onderzoeken mocht zijn, mag dat nu niet meer omdat ze geweigerd heeft.

According to a pre-trial report that Rebecca accessed Anna & Josh declined to have their kids cognitively & forensically examined by CPS following his arrest.
Rouse stated that Josh & Anna declined because they didn’t want their children exposed to the agency.
Due to the charges Josh faces, CPS involvement is standard as consumers of child Pornography often offend. Many times they abuse their own children.
Josh declining CPS intervention is not surprising. However, Anna declining could come back to haunt her.
If convicted of the charges, the court can order a forensic & cognitive evaluation of the kids. Because Anna refused the first one, she will not be permitted in the rooms with the kids while they are interviewed.
If the exams reveal the children were sexually or physically abused by Josh, Anna could be charged with Child Neglect of a dependent.
In the state of Arkansas it is illegal to not protect your child from physical & sexual abuse if there is suspected harm. Child neglect charges related to sexual abuse are felonies.
Additionally, her fitness as a parent will become a key issue for CPS. Because she failed to protect her children from Josh given his history, they could deem her an unfit mother. She could lose custody of the kids as a result.
Rebecca Rouse stated there are no changes to child custody at this time. However, reports do indicate that Anna has left the kids with family to sleep with Josh at the Rebers. Upon conviction, Rebecca stated that this choice could be viewed as child abandonment.
There is also a concern in these cases that the mothers are co-conspirators. In some cases, mothers offend with the father. If she is found to have exposed the kids to sexual abuse, that is a whole separate charge.
All of this will depend on a few things:
Josh must be convicted of the CSAM charges (dit is dus inmiddels al gebeurd)
The forensic exams would have to show evidence of either physical or sexual abuse
Rebecca Rouse said her legal experience has made her fearful for their kids since his arrest.
