Opvallend hoe snel hij weg reed na het passeren van Herlings, vervolgens hetzelfde bij Cairoli.
Te vroeg om conclusies te trekken wat betreft het kampioenschap.

Maar zoals Nober ook al gezegd heeft is dit circuit niet zijn favoriet.

Dat lijkt me wat overdreven. Gajser was absoluut de beste dit weekend en als ik geld zou moeten inzetten dan absoluut op hem maar het wordt toch het feestje van wie blijft er heel en constant.quote:
Op Gajser klopte Herlings vorig jaar in de 2e GP in Valkenswaard ook gewoon op terrein van Herlings. En halverwege het seizoen lag Herlings dik voor in punten. Overigens ook zonder ooit echt te domineren zoals in 2018.
Zelf had ik het idee dat Herlings zich niet heel comfortabel op het circuit voelde, en vooral redelijk wou scoren zonder teveel risico te nemen. In moto 1 had hij na 2 rondes al wel in de gaten dat hij niet meer om het podium mee zou gaan doen en heeft rustig gewacht en aan het einde Lupino gepakt. Als uiteindelijk mooi 20 en 15 punten op Cairoli en Prado gepakt, en zelfs punten op Febvre (die helemaal thuis is op dit soort banen).
de bult op zich niet zo, maar je rijdt hem aan in een soort van bocht en dan op wat lijkt als bijna betonharde ondergrond, dus met die combi al weinig grip en door je houding (vanwege de bocht) ook niet super stabiel.quote:

En na tijd zijn op de oploop knippen ontstaan waar telkens het voorwiel over weggleed. Dus terwijl ze de bult opreden vloog voorwiel eronder weg maar omdat ze behoorlijke snelheid hadden sprongen ze dus al vallend. Je zag het kort nog bij Herlings in de herhaling van Cairoli dat hij ook bijna weggleed.

It’s been proven in the past that if you do that almost every weekend then you’ll be there or thereabouts at the end of the season for the championship. Both motos were OK, nothing too impressive. I don’t have the speed yet. I can do it in the morning for one-lap but I don’t have it across the race yet. I’m not far away though and there are some good tracks for me coming up.”

Herlings: “The first moto felt like a disaster. I didn’t know what was stopping the rear brake so I had to sort it out and lost places and around twenty seconds. I then had to make a late moto charge. I was bummed about that and really wanted to go for the win in the second race but the rain fell so hard just before the start. It was a bit unexpected, and we had to make a last minute decision about tires and googles. My starts were off a bit today but the second moto was OK and I got into 3rd, where I saved my goggles for a while. I had a little gap to Glenn and I knew coming to the lapped riders would be a moment where you can lose but also gain a lot of time: you have to be a bit lucky. So I attacked at that moment and it led to the ‘overall’. We closed a lot of points in the championship so the day started and finished in an unlucky and lucky way. It’s good to head into Oss with a confidence boost. I want to give-it-up to the Red Bull KTM team and the job they did, the bike was excellent.”
Gruebel, Team Manager: “Jeffrey started the GP quite conservatively but then had that issue with the stone in the rear brake and it seemed to get him quite angry! He then found two seconds a lap to close back to the guys and return to 6th, which is where he was until he had the mishap. He pushed hard and it paid-off at the end of the day. The second race was a complete gamble with the weather, the rain, the heavy mud and people struggled with goggles…but Jeffrey rode steady and won that moto. A 6-1 was good enough for the overall win and it’s great for him, his head and the team. We can see that Jeffrey’s confidence is growing and that’s really nice. He started the season in a solid way but this is the first win and it’s important.”

I was a bit faster, but the track felt really one-lined, which was really difficult to pass, but in the end I spent quite some energy, but still finished fourth. In the second moto I took the holeshot, which was really good. The team has been working so hard and I am very thankful for that. I really owe this one to them. I am really happy to be back on the podium, it’s a really good confidence booster going into Oss in two weeks' time and I’m really looking forward to my home GP.”
