TURKEY’S authoritarian President Recep Tayyip Erdogan ordered the deadly 2014 jihadist attack on Kobane in northern Syria, a senior Isis commander alleged today.
Taha Abdurrahim Abdullah, a close confidant of Isis leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi – who died earlier this week – was captured by the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces militia alliance in March this year.
He told his captors Mr Erdogan had insisted that Isis attack the largely Kurdish border town in northern Syria in September 2014, despite the jihadists’ reluctance.
“We [Isis] were preparing war, but our goal was to move to Damascus, not Kobane,” he claimed under interrogation.
“[Former Isis leader] Baghdadi wanted Kobane to be attacked. We objected to this situation. But he refused. We suffered heavy losses in Kobane.
“Later, we learned that the reason why Bagdadi turned our direction to Kobane overnight was the insistence of the Turks.

Three men have been committed to stand trial on terrorism offences a year after they were arrested in a series of raids across Melbourne's northern suburbs.

Indonesia police link suicide bombing to Islamic State-inspired group
Indonesian anti-terrorism officers shot dead two suspected bomb makers during a raid on the weekend and arrested more than a dozen as authorities linked a suicide bombing last week to an Islamic State-inspired network, police said on Monday.
A 24-year-old student blew himself up outside a police station in the city of Medan in North Sumatra province last Wednesday, killing himself and wounding six people.
Police had initially declared the attacker to be a "lone wolf", but a national police spokesman said on Monday the student along with 22 other suspects in the area had links to the Islamic State-inspired Jamaah Ansharut Daulah (JAD).
JAD has been blamed for a series of attacks in recent years and was banned in Indonesia last year for "conducting terrorism" and being affiliated with foreign militants.

Police special forces searched the apartment of the 26-year old suspect in Berlin after he had bought chemicals and other materials needed to build an explosive device, the general prosecutors’ office said.
The suspect exchanged bomb building know-how through an extremist messenger group with links to the Islamic State group, apparently preparing the construction of a bomb.
“This (device) was meant to be detonated at an unknown time at an unknown location in Germany to kill as many people as possible,” prosecutors said.

The new leader of Islamic State has been confirmed as Amir Mohammed Abdul Rahman al-Mawli al-Salbi
,according to officials from two intelligence services.
He is one of the terror group’s founding members and has led the enslavement of Iraq’s Yazidi minority and has overseen operations around the globe.
Salbi, as intelligence officials now know him, rose through the ranks helped by his background as an Islamic scholar and gave religious rulings that underwrote the genocide against Yazidis and the emptying of the Nieveh Plains in northern Iraq during the height of the Isis rampage.
Salbi holds a degree in sharia law from the University of Mosul.
In 2004 he was detained by US forces in Camp Bucca prison in southern Iraq where he met Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi.
