Tot in de jaren '80 was dit een militaire- en burgerluchthaven. De terminal wordt momenteel omgebouwd tot luchtvaartmuseum.
Tijdens de Eerste Wereldoorlog werd hier al gevlogen. Het was de nationale luchthaven van dit land tot in de jaren '70 een nieuwe luchthaven gebouwd werd.
