Er zouden een aantal bedrijven zijn geweest met bezwaren tegen de plannen van SpaceX, omdat de Starlink-satellieten mogelijk interfereerden met hun eigen satellieten. De FCC ging daar dus niet in mee.
SpaceX heeft te kennen gegeven dat de eerste lancering van de Starlink-satellieten al volgende maand kan plaatsvinden. In totaal wil het ruimtevaartbedrijf duizenden satellieten lanceren om zo een wereldwijd dekkend netwerk op te zetten voor internetverbindingen.
