quote:LINE-UP CONFIRMED FOR 2020 DAVIS CUP FINALS
08 Mar 2020
Every team competing in this weekend's Davis Cup by Rakuten Qualifier ties had one goal - to reach the season-ending Finals in Madrid.
Twelve nations made it through to take part in the second edition of the Davis Cup by Rakuten Madrid Finals at the Caja Magica on 23-29 November.
Here's how the 18-nation line-up will look...
Spain (defending champion)
Canada (2019 runner up)
Great Britain (2019 semi-finalist)
Russia (2019 semi-finalist)
France (2020 wild card)
Serbia (2020 wild card)
Qualifiers (12 nations winning their Qualifier ties on 6-7 March)
Five nations - Austria, Czech Republic, Ecuador, Hungary and Sweden - will be making their first appearance at the Davis Cup Finals.
Australia and Germany were the only two nations from the Qualifiers to have made it to the knockout stages in last year's Finals. Australia lost to Canada in the quarter-finals while Germany fell to Great Britain in the last eight.
The draw for the 2020 Finals will take place at the ITF headquarters in London on Thursday 12 March at 16:00 GMT. You can follow the draw live on DavisCup.com and on Davis Cup's range of social media channels.
Spain, as defending champion, will be the first nation drawn into Pool A, with Canada, as last year's runner-up, drawn into Pool B. The remaining nations will be ordered according to Monday's Davis Cup Nations Ranking and will be drawn at random into the remaining Pools.
The 12 teams that lost their Qualifier ties will contest World Group I on September 18-19 or 19-20. World Group I will feature the 12 losing nations from the Qualifiers and the 12 winning nations from the World Group I play-offs. Nations will be seeded based on Monday's ranking and the draw for these ties is due to take place on Friday 13 March at 14:00 GMT.
