Valt wel mee. Ging tegelijkertijd naar binnen met de rest tijdens de laatste stop onder geel. Had zich goed naar voren gewerkten en kon het langer volhouden dan de rest omdat hij blijkbaar zuiniger reed (of de gok nam).

15:23 – Indy Lights champion Spencer Pigot will extend his rookie IndyCar season at Ed Carpenter Racing.

Pigot, who competed at St. Petersburg and the two Indianapolis rounds with Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing, will make the switch to ECR for the remaining road- and street-course events in the #20 Chevrolet.

"I'm very excited to be joining Ed Carpenter Racing for the remainder of the season on road and street courses," commented Pigot, who recorded a best finish of 11th at the Indianapolis road course event.

"ECR has been very strong in 2016 and I hope we can continue to build on the success they've had."

ECR team owner Ed Carpenter, who will continue to race at ovals, added: "We are really excited to be able to add Spencer to the ECR line-up and finish out the year with the #20 Fuzzy's Vodka car.

"Spencer is a definite young talent and we look forward to finishing the year strong with him."

Net als tijdens de races in Indianapolis zal Gabby Chaves ook komend weekend de #19 bolide van Dale Coyne Racing besturen. Eerder was de voormalig Indy Lights kampioen alleen bevestigd voor beide races in Indianapolis, maar zijn naam prijkt nu ook op de deelnemerslijst van de Chevrolet Dual in Detroit. Luca Filippi bestuurde deze wagen tijdens de eerste vier races van het seizoen.

Zowel Filippi als Chaves zijn beiden dit seizoen niet erg succesvol geweest met de #19 bolide. In de vier races die Filippi reed was een zeventiende plaats in Long Beach zijn beste resultaat, terwijl Chaves als zeventiende finishte in de Grand Prix of Indianapolis en als twintigste in de Indianapolis 500.
