Tjonge, voor het tweede jaar op rij een mooie race op Barber. Normaal gesproken gebeurde hier altijd net zo weinig als Long Beach vorige week .

Met de bekendmaking dat Sebastian Saveedra voor AFS Racing de Indy 500 gaat rijden zitten we op 33 bevestigde coureurs voor de Indy 500. De verwachting is dat daar nog een aantal coureurs bij komen. Stefan Wilson wordt verwacht bij KVSH Racing (persconferentie vandaag om 21.15 uur Nederlandse tijd) en Katherine Legge bij Grace Autosport, dat nog steeds een team zoekt om mee samen te werken.
Michael Shanks Racing heeft een chassis (voorheen van Herta) en motor en ook Dale Coyne zou nog een auto ter beschikking hebben. Dus zou het aantal deelnemers kunnen groeien naar 35 tot 37 coureurs.

IndyCar probeert de geannuleerde race van Boston te vervangen door een race op Watkins Glen. Ook kijken ze naar een non-championship race in China in oktober.
