Hopelijk wordt het dan wel leuk afgesloten.quote:It should be noted that Containment was touted as a limited event series ahead of its launch. (Prior to that, though, executive producer Chris Ord told TVLine, “We’re looking at the first season as its own thing, but it’ll leave us room to go forward and do more.”)

The Cold War is nearing its inevitable end.
FX has renewed The Americans for Season 5 and Season 6, with the latter serving as the acclaimed series’ swan song, the cabler announced Wednesday. The 13-episode fifth season will air in 2017, followed by a 10-episode sixth and final season in 2018.
FX co-president Eric Schrier said the two-season order will allow co-showrunners Joe Weisberg and Joel Fields “to tell this story to its perfect conclusion,” adding, “We look forward to a brilliant final act of the Jennings family saga.”
“It’s hard to believe we’re heading into the final stretch on The Americans, and we’re so grateful to know we’ll be telling the story to its conclusion,” said Fields and Weisberg in their own statement.
“The best part of the last four years has been the intensive and fruitful collaboration with all of the people who make this show — the teams at FX… our amazing cast, crew, and production team and our fellow writers. It’s a lot of people putting their hearts and souls into The Americans, at this point for a lot of years. We’re looking forward to the final two.”
Fields and Weisberg, meanwhile, will continue their relationship with FX beyond The Americans; the pair have closed a new overall deal with FX Productions that calls for them to develop a new series.
The Americans‘ current fourth season concludes on Wednesday, June 8.

Limitless has a limit, after all.
After failing to get a Season 2 renewal from CBS, the series has run out of options.
“I’m truly sad to report that Limitless will not continue on any platform,” executive producer Craig Sweeney tweeted Wednesday afternoon. “Thanks so much to everyone who watched.”

The Shelby clan is set to return for two more seasons with Peaky Blinders receiving a double order from BBC Two. Season 3 is currently running in the UK with the epic crime saga created by Steven Knight and starring Cillian Murphy due to bow Stateside on Netflix on May 31. There’s currently no word on Netflix’s role in Seasons 4 and 5, although it wouldn’t be surprising to see it follow suit on picking up the popular drama.

quote:We Probably Won’t Have True Detective to Kick Around Anymore
Were you wondering what sort of manly men would get into dark and twisted trouble in the third season of True Detective? If so, we've got bad news for you: According to a THR profile of new HBO programming head Casey Bloys, a third season of the crime anthology series is probably not on the menu. More likely, sources say, is a different series from creator Nic Pizzolatto, who signed an exclusive deal with HBO last fall. The news is not incredibly surprising — even at the height of True D mania, Pizzolatto said he couldn't imagine making more than three seasons of the show. There's no word on what Pizzolatto's other ideas could be, but knowing what happened in season two, a Hollywood satire is probably out of the question.

quote:Homeland Nearing Two-Season Renewal as Season 6 Is Pushed to '17
Take a deep breath, Carrie Mathison — you’ve got a long road ahead of you.
Showtime is nearing a deal to renew Homeland for Season 7 and 8, the network’s CEO David Nevins announced to Wednesday.
Nevins also confirmed that the show’s upcoming sixth season will not launch in the fall, per tradition. Instead, it will bow in January 2017. (Shameless Season 7 will take over Homeland‘s customary fall perch).
“Homeland is a show that is constantly reinventing itself… since it’s very much about this Intelligence world,” Nevins said to reporters during a conference call. “More than most, this is a show that has an open-ended expiration date, just because of the subject matter.”
Homeland‘s sixth season will be set (and shot) in New York City, and will take place during the two month period between Election Day and the swearing in of the new POTUS. “There is this strange period in America where there are 72 days when it’s not exactly clear who’s in charge, and there is a new president that needs to be educated on what it means to be president,” Gansa recently told EW.com. “That is a very complex transfer of power filled with all kinds of anxiety and different competing interests… it’s a dangerous time in our democracy.”
Also on the conference call, Nevins revealed that the Twin Peaks revival will likely bow in “the second quarter” of 2017. Additionally, the exec announced a pilot order for White Famous, a half-hour comedy exec produced by Jamie Foxx and Californication creator Tom Kapinos about a talented, young African-American comedian whose star is rising, forcing him to navigate the treacherous waters of maintaining his credibility as he begins to cross-over towards becoming “white famous.”
