De YPG kennende is dat wel het laatste wat ze zullen doen, ik zie ze eerder het enige seculiere rebellenbataljon oprichten dat Syrië ooit te zien zal krijgen.

The group also said around 100 people were wounded, among them 20 children.

The Britain-based monitor said rebels had fired some 250 rockets at several districts in western Aleppo city in just four hours, causing massive damage including the collapse of an entire building.

State television broadcast gruesome footage of the wounded being brought into hospital.

One stretcher carried the body of an adult whose face was covered with blood, and a dead child, ghostly with white dust.

A new report says officials with the Turkish government intelligence agency secured the flow of arms to terrorists in Syria.

Four Turkish prosecutors brought the matter into light after intercepting Syria-headed arms-laden trucks in January 2014, the English-language daily, Today’s Zaman, reported on Thursday.

They said Turkish officials, including intelligence agency personnel, were involved in the supply of weapons and ammunition to radical groups in Syria, particularly the Qaeda-tied Ahrar al-Sham.

The daily wrote, “In January 2014, Adana prosecutor Özcan Şişman went to Hatay, a neighboring province that sits on the border with Syria, after a truck that was suspected of carrying arms into Syria, was stopped.”

“Two weeks later, another prosecutor, Aziz Takçı, intercepted three trucks carrying arms and medical supplies to Syria. The trucks were later found to be owned by the Turkey's National Intelligence Organization (MİT).”

The other two prosecutors were named by the daily as Yaşar Kavalcıoğlu and Süleyman Bağrıyanık.

The country’s president, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who was serving as premier at the time, publicly criticized the prosecutors and urged the authorities to arrest those who were involved in stopping the trucks. The four prosecutors were jailed last month.

Syria has been struggling with an implacable militancy since March 2011. The US and its regional allies - especially Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey - are supporting the militants operating inside Syria.

The international community has for long been critical of Turkey over its provision of assistance to Takfiri terrorists waging war in Syria.

Earlier in the month, newly-surfaced video footage corroborated widespread assertions that the MİT had been ensuring safe passage for the terrorists with the ISIL Takfiri group into Syria.

Turkish daily Cumhuriyet also posted a video on its website on May 29, purportedly showing trucks belonging to Turkey’s intelligence agency carrying weapons to the Takfiri terror groups operating in Syria.

Residents of a mainly Druze city in southwestern Syria are volunteering to join forces with the country’s Army to defend their hometown against the deadly attacks by foreign-backed Takfiri militants, Press TV reports.

Hundreds of volunteers lined up at an army base in the as-Suwayda City, the capital of Syria’s as-Suwayda Governorate on Wednesday to register for deployment to the battlefronts in the area to support government troops in their fight against the intruding terrorists.

“We have come to defend al-Suwayda, and God-willing, we will be victorious. The homeland needs us. This land is ours and we will defend it,” said one of the volunteers (shown below).

People of Suwayda continue to live a normal life despite the persisting push towards the city and its countryside by the al-Qaeda-linked al-Nusra Front terrorists.

Among the volunteers were a number of former army soldiers who had decided to return to duty after leaving the army for different reasons such as threats against their families by the Takfiri terrorists.

“I came here to perform my service and national duty in defense of my city as-Suwayda and all of my country Syria. I am an army soldier. I used to fight in Aleppo and I was kidnapped and things got complicated. When my city was attacked, I decide to return back to duty,” said another volunteer (shown below).

A local elderly (shown below) also praised the high number of people seeking to join the Syrian army’s anti-terror battles and said, “No one asked those people to come. The noble deed by the leader of Syria has been adopted by every honorable person in Suwayda. The amnesty for the army personnel who left duty was announced on speakers. Since then soldiers have been pouring in.”

The high morale and enthusiasm was evident as volunteers chanted slogans and sang national songs before departing for the battlefield, expressing loyalty toward their homeland.

The new surge in number of forces backing up the Syrian army could be a game-changer in the balance of power on the battlefield to protect as-Suwayda.

The Syrian soldiers have inflicted heavy losses on the extremists during the battles on several fronts across the country, which plunged into a foreign-sponsored crisis more than four year a ago.

Last week, at least 100 terrorists of the al-Nusra Front were killed in as-Suwayda after Syrian forces foiled attempts by the Takfiri terrorists to infiltrate al-Tha’leh airport in the area.

BEIRUT: Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi reportedly advised a visiting Lebanese delegation to brace themselves for the imminent fall of Syrian President Bashar Assad, Al-Mustaqbal newspaper reported Friday.

“Be ready for the fall of Assad,” an anonymous member of the delegation quoted Sisi as saying.

The Egyptian president warned “of dramatic developments that could suddenly hit Syria,” saying that the regime is in “bad shape” as evidenced by the latest military developments on the ground, the Lebanese daily reported.

Sisi acknowledged that any dramatic shift in Syria resulting from Assad’s removal from power could lead to further pressure on Lebanon, especially with regards to a potential increase in the number of Syrian refugees fleeing the neighboring conflict.

“Therefore, Lebanon should endeavor to fortify itself and start anticipating how it would deal with such a possibility,” the source quoted Sisi as saying.

Prime Minister Tammam Salam launched a series of meetings with top officials in Cairo Wednesday, including his Egyptian counterpart Prime Minister Ibrahim Mahlab and Sisi, as part of his one day visit to the country.

Salam’s talks with Sisi covered developments in the region, including the war in Syria and helping Lebanon cope with its repercussions, particularly the presence of more than a million Syrian refugees, the state-run National News Agency reported.

During the meeting with Salam, which was also attended by Mahlab, Sisi stressed Egypt’s position, which advocates a political solution to the Syrian crisis with the priority of preserving the Syrian state, the NNA said.

The report added that the talks also touched on the Lebanese presidential election crisis, with Sisi again calling for the election of a president as soon as possible in order to achieve stability in Lebanon.
