Husqvarna IceOne Racing kan weer een GP zege gaan vieren met Nagl. Na een tweede plek in de eerste manche won Nagl de tweede voor Cairoli. Ook hier beide op 47 punten met Desalle op 38 (3-4).

Desalle staat met 171 punten nog wel eerste maar Nagl en Cairoli staan op 170 en debutant Febvre op 129. Paulin en Villopoto volgen op 128 en 124.

Jeffrey Herlings Interview

Red Bull KTM Factory rider Jeffrey Herlings went into the Grand Prix of Italy looking to get the GP win he missed in Argentina a couple of weeks prior. The Dutchman had a disappointing DNF in the opening moto at the third round in Argentina.

Herlings didn’t get the win though in Italy, instead having to settle for second overall as young Slovenian rider Tim Gajser pulled the surprise victory. Herlings did win the Saturday qualification race and his Sunday score of 1-2 wasn’t too shabby either.

We caught up with the KTM Factory rider and asked him about the disappointment of not winning a GP in Argentina and also Italy.

Q: Jeffrey, after the problems you had in Argentina you must have been happy to win qualifying on Saturday in Italy?

Herlings: I had to stay out of trouble, when I have a good start and stay out of trouble I should win. I had some issues in Argentina obviously with that opening moto crash. On Saturday in Italy my start was good and I felt comfortable and the bike felt good. I knew I needed two solid starts on Sunday to win.

Q: You had a lot to deal with on the Saturday with the weather didn’t you?

Herlings: On Saturday the weather was different, with the rain it is a slippery track, and even worse when it rains. The track looked good though, I was happy with how it looked.

Q: How did you feel on the Sunday?

Herlings: Obviously disappointed not to win, but that is racing. The start was not good in the second race but overall we had a good Sunday. We won the qualifying on Saturday and the first moto pretty easy. I had a really bad start in the second moto but I worked my way up to the front then I had a stupid crash that was my fault. I picked up some points so I look forward to next weekend. I am not sure I would have caught Gajser. For sure I could have been close but obviously he did a great job. Hopefully I can take the win in Valkenswaard in front of my home crowd. I’ve already won there five times in a row. So that’s what we are hoping for.

Q: Now onto your beloved Valkenswaard.

Herlings: Yes, I love that place. I have ridden so many laps there and if I win I get six in a row, which I don’t think has been done before. I go there for the win, but after Argentina and Italy I really need to stay out of trouble and get better starts.

CAS confirms 16-month ban on James Stewart, Jr.



In the dispute James Stewart, Jr. vs Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM), the FIM has been advised by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) that the Panel appointed to hear the appeal filed by Mr James Stewart, Jr. against the decision of the FIM International Disciplinary Court (CDI) in first instance of 12 December 2014 has confirmed the 16 (sixteen) month period of ineligibility imposed on Mr James Stewart, Jr., commencing on 12 April 2014.

The Hearing was held at the CAS headquarters in Lausanne (Switzerland) on 30 March 2015 in presence of the parties. The FIM was defended and represented by its Legal Director, Mr Richard Perret.

On 12 April 2014, Mr James Stewart, Jr. underwent an anti-doping test conducted by the FIM at the round of the Monster Energy AMA Supercross, an FIM World Championship, held at the Century Link Field, Seattle, Washington. The urine sample obtained from Mr Stewart revealed the presence of a prohibited substance (amphetamine) listed in the category S6. Stimulant under a) Non-specified Stimulants and prohibited in competition under the FIM Anti-doping Code (CAD) in force. At the moment of the test, Mr Stewart was not in a possession of any Therapeutic Use Exemption (TUE) for that substance.

On 17 June 2014, in accordance with Article 7.6.1 CAD, the FIM provisionally suspended Mr Stewart with effect from 20 June pending the CDI’s decision adjudicating on the merits of the case. Mr Anand Sashidharan of India was appointed by the Director of the International Commission of Judges (CJI) as CDI Single Judge to hear the case. Mr Stewart was heard by the CDI during a Hearing near Mies (Switzerland) on 23 October 2014.

On the merits, the CAS Panel found, as did the CDI, that Mr Stewart had indisputably committed an anti-doping rule violation under the CAD. Considering all the circumstances and all the evidence adduced, having regard to Mr Stewart’s degree of fault, the CAS Panel came to the conclusion that the period of ineligibility of 16 (sixteen) months imposed by the CDI was a fair and appropriate sanction.

The CAS Panel, while noting that Mr James Stewart, Jr. “did not take any precautions whatsoever” to avoid the anti-doping rule violation, described the attitude of Mr James Stewart, Jr. towards the FIM Anti-doping Code (CAD) as being “one of reckless disregard”.

The CAS Panel stressed that the sanction imposed by the CDI Single Judge was determined “after a rigorous examination of all material before it” and that the CDI handed down a “closely reasoned decision”.

The CAS Panel has not recognised any inordinate delays in the proceedings whether in the first instance before the CDI or in second instance before the CAS.

The CAS Panel also upheld the FIM CDI’s decision with respect to the disqualifications imposed on Mr. Stewart. However, with respect to the disqualifications of Mr James Stewart, Jr from the four rounds of the 2014 national Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Series in which he participated while provisionally suspended, the CAS Panel held that, while these “stand”, they have effect only so far as the FIM has jurisdiction or as so far as other authorities recognise these disqualifications.

The period of ineligibility of 16 (sixteen) months imposed on Mr. James Stewart will end on 11 August 2015 at midnight.

Jacob Hayes schakelt zichzelf uit en verliest Arenacross titel aan Kyle Regal


In the final main event of the 2015 AMSOIL Arenacross season, Kyle Regal and Jacob Hayes were battling for the title early off the start. In main event #1, Hayes took the win over Regal, who finished 2nd. In main event #2 here, the sparks flew a big way as Hayes made an extremely aggressive pass to take out Regal. Hayes' bike would end up having major issues which lead to a dreadful DNF. Regal finished 9th in the main event enough to get him the 2015 AMSOIL Arenacross title.

Vurb Salutes: Motocross Fights

Today, vurbmoto salutes you, Mr. Motocross Fighter. Without you, how in the name of Mortal Kombat would we know who was actually supposed to win that last 450 C moto? I mean sure, results do the talking, but just because someone is ten seconds a lap faster than you doesn’t mean they should have beat you. If it wasn’t for that guy taking you out (and the fact that you were riding comfortably in twentieth place), you most definitely would have taken home that W!


But everyone makes mistakes right? Wrong. Not in your eyes Mr. Motocross Fighter. This is big business we’re talking about here. And that Billy’s Towing Indoor Series trophy would have looked damn good on your mantle — had it not been for number 69 on the '91 CR 250 getting in your way. Which is exactly why it’s time to show him who’s boss. Mess with the bull, you get the horns (or at least a stern talking to).


“But wait, isn’t all of that high-tech motorcycle racing gear going to get in the way of your post-race rage, Mr. Motocross Fighter?” Negatory. I mean sure, that helmet might be approved for the most brutal crashes in motocross history, but it damn sure isn’t approved for fists of fury. Snell and DOT never stood a chance against that right hook of yours. And hey, even if that helmet doesn’t implode upon your very first Greek god-like power-punch, at least you’ll have an excellent chance of breaking every bone in your hand. And there’s nothing tougher than broken bones. That’s just a fact.


It isn’t only the art of Street Fighter 2 super-combos that you’ve mastered either. Fight in and fight out, you consistently bring us the most well-said trash talking that the world of dirtbike racing has ever heard. Hell, in most cases you won’t even resort to fighting at all. Because you know that the most powerful weapon of all is the art of rhetoric. It was Gandhi that once said, “Kick someone's hind quarters and they’ll hurt for a day, but tell someone you’re going to kick it and their soul will hurt for eternity.”… or something like that at least.


So here’s to you, Mr. Motocross Fighter. You, and only you, have the innate ability to make the sport of motocross/supercross racing actually exciting. 100 foot jumps? Boring. Intense bar-to-bar action? I’ll pass. But throw you and some other guy out there in a trackside WWE throwdown and you’ll have us entertained until the very last swing. However, let’s not forget, every karate kid is only as good as his sansei. And judging by the video above, your’s goes by the name One-Punch. Salute.

Ferrandis:
I was not confident when I left Talavera on Sunday evening, as I had pain in my left leg after hurting my knee during the warm up and again in the second race. I had exams today and they revealed that my ligaments are broken and the meniscus is damaged, so I will have surgery this Thursday. Jeffrey Herlings interview

Red Bull KTM Factory rider Jeffrey Herling might have a massive 112 point lead but he isn’t looking at anything at the moment other than staying out of trouble and clocking up the points. After losing the MX2 title in 2014 to Jordi Tixier the Dutchman has struggled with injuries and crashes, so much so that he is probably only racing at 60% of his normal speed.

In saying that the young guns of the MX2 class, names like Valentin Guillod, Jordi Tixier, Tim Gajser and before his injury Dylan Ferrandis are making life difficult for the fastest MX2/250 rider in the world.

Coming away from the Grand Prix of France with 1-1 scores and his body slowly recovering from pre-season and early season injuries we might start to see Herlings put together more perfect weekends, at least that is what he is hoping.

We caught up with him after his victory and asked him about his 47th GP win (just three GP wins away from the great Joel Robert tally of 50). Also take a look at these brilliant Ray Archer images from Herlings France victory.

Mxlarge: Jeffrey, it is still clear you are not 100%. While the younger riders are doing amazing, how tough is it to be racing when you are not at your best?

Herlings: As I have mentioned before, I didn’t have the winter program, just started on the bike in middle of February and I was struggling so much and normally I could train every day, but it was like one day working, two days off, so I struggled for preparation before Qatar, like 10 days on the bike in total, then after Argentina I had a big crash and couldn’t ride between that race and Italy, in fact I almost didn’t race in Italy, then had a big crash in Italy and couldn’t ride between Italy and Valkenswaard. In Spain a big crash, I did two races in Holland and Belgium between those, but still I haven’t had enough bike time. It will come back to me, but I need more time and I need to stay away from crashes.

Mxlarge: In saying that, these young kids are doing an awesome job of battling with you. I know you don’t really enjoy these types of tracks in France, but you are still pushing forward and scoring good points.

Herlings: If you look at the championship it looks ok, but I feel like the rest come closer because I haven’t had the bike time. I left France healthy so hopefully I can put in some good days of training and go to Italy a little better prepared. At the moment we are racing on the tracks I find difficult, like in England, France, and Italy. The tracks I like are coming later like Lommel, Assen, Latvia, and Glen Helen. I mean I can’t complain if we can stay out of injuries then we can get the job done.

Mxlarge: When you took that holeshot in the opening moto you must have been so pumped, first that you got the start and then that nice little cut up the inside to take the lead.

Herlings: I was worried all night long, waking up and thinking I am going to be all the way on the outside or all the way on the inside, and I figured I would just make the best of it and do what I am capable of. I just thought to myself I need to ride like a champion and I did that twice getting the holeshot from right on the outside. That was pretty sweet, in fact I was screaming at myself when I took the holeshot, but then I went down and I was like, oh come on man. I still worked my way to the front and won the moto, so that was good.

Mxlarge: When you took the holeshot after such a terrible moto on Saturday I was thinking to myself, ok, it’s Sunday and he knows that is when the points are scored. What did you think?

Herlings: That is something you need to get going and handle the pressure and when you are so far on the outside you really don’t know if you will get to the front. I was comfortable and did what I had to do and those two holeshots really helped me out.

Mxlarge: Changing the subject, are you looking forward to racing Marvin at the USGP?

Herlings: Well Marvin is over 23 so he will be in the MXGP class, but there will still be some good guys racing, I saw Jessy Nelson will be riding and some other guys, so obviously it will be good and my goal is to win the world championship, but it is a track I like and it is their home track so they can’t make excuses that the tracks are different or whatever, so it should be fun.

Mxlarge: In the past you have planned things, like going to Unadilla, or riding the bigger bike against Cairoli, but injuries stopped that. I guess you won’t be making plans this year?

Herlings: Obviously with this sport you can’t plan anything, so many things happen so quickly, I mean I broke my femur in a second. The plan was to win the championship in Loket, and normally I would have won that thing. We wanted to go to Unadilla and win there, go to Lommel on the big bike, but it all went wrong in a few seconds and for this season we just want to win the championship and just be consistent and not get injured. Maybe if we win the championship we will plan some stuff.

Mxlarge: Any chance of seeing you in the MXGP class at Glen Helen?

Herlings: I don’t know, but I don’t think so, already KTM have Dungey, Nagl on Husky, they already have so many big bike riders, I don’t think that is smart from KTM’s side, but you never know, but at this moment I don’t think we will do that.

Zonder Herlings zou het trouwens een geweldig spannend seizoen zijn.

Vooral een slechte start en geen risico's nemen.
