Bransgore thrower Scott Mitchell targets switch to PDC

ARROWS star Scott Mitchell is keen on a switch to the Professional Darts Corporation but admits he could be held back by financial concerns.

The 44-year-old, set to begin his British Darts Organisation World Championship campaign tomorrow, is open to a move to the lucrative PDC circuit.

Legendary commentator Dave Lanning suggested the Bransgore ace would benefit from such a switch but Mitchell insisted inflated tour costs could prove a sticking point.

He told the Daily Echo: “If I don’t go to the PDC one day, I think I will live with regrets.

“I don’t want to be 60 years old and think that I should have had a go. But it’s about the capital.

“It would be nice to have the offer because it means you are playing great. But it’s not quite as simple as just going across and playing, unfortunately.

“There are financial implications with the PDC circuit – it costs nearly double what it costs to do the BDO.

“A year in the PDC would cost around £10,000-£12,000 but their ranking table goes across two years so you need to find around £25,000 to finance everything.

“If the money ever came to fruition I would have to seriously look at taking my opportunity but I would only ever do what was best for me and my family.”

Fourth seed Mitchell faces a tough clash with three-time world finalist Tony O’Shea in the first round at Lakeside Country Club.

And while the Dorset thrower admitted he could have had a kinder draw, he revealed his confidence was brimming.

Mitchell added: “There are players that you don’t want to draw in the first round and the likes of Tony are the ones you want to avoid.

“It’s a very difficult situation but that’s the draw and we have to deal with it.

“I’m number four seed for a reason and Tony is unseeded for a reason, that’s the way I’m trying to look at it.

“At one point this year I held six titles and if I don’t go into Lakeside with confidence on the back of that, then there’s something wrong.”

Who's in Celebrity Big Brother 2015? Darts player Richie Burnett 'joins line up'

Darts player Richie Burnett has been tipped to take part in Celebrity Big Brother 2015 this month.

The shamed sportsman was banned from this year’s latest championship over claims of drug use, allegations he’s yet to comment on.

The Sun newspaper reports that Richie is hoping to “revive his career” with a comeback on the Channel 5 series which launches next week.

“Richie’s career has been hanging in the balance ever since he was banned last month,” a source told the newspaper. “It’s been a rough time for him. But he is hoping that Big Brother can change things.”

The insider added to the tabloid today (January 1): “It’s a chance for him to give his side of the story.

“He could be facing anything from a year to life away from the sport.”

Some of the other sort-of celebs who have been linked to the latest line up include TV host Keith Chegwin, celeb blogger Perez Hilton, East 17 singer Brian Harvey, soap star Patsy Kensit, model Calum Best and media loudmouth Katie Hopkins.

There’s also been more recent rumours that X Factor’s Marcus Collins, Baywatch actor Jeremy Jackson and Dynasty’s Linda Evans are set to enter the house.

Celebrity Big Brother 2015 starts on Wednesday, January 7 on Channel 5.

Alleen de top-4 is automatisch geplaatst, hoewel je er volgens mij wel vanuit kon gaan dat de titelverdediger gewoon een wildcard zou krijgen
