Tina Fey's New Show Moves From NBC to Netflix

The Ellie Kemper comedy has been renewed for a second season as the streamer takes over the series from the network

NBC's Tina Fey-produced comedy Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt is making a major move.
The comedy will now move from NBC to Netflix, where the Ellie Kemper series has preemptively been renewed for a second season, the streaming service announced Friday.
From Universal Television and 30 Rock exec producers Fey and Robert Carlock, NBC picked up the comedy about a woman who escapes from a doomsday cult and starts life over in New York straight to series following a multiple-network bidding war.
NBC picked up 13 episodes and announced the comedy would premiere in the fall. The series, however, was left off the network's fall slate and never received a time slot.
"When the opportunity arose for Tina Fey and Robert Carlock to premiere their new show on Netflix with a two-season commitment, we decided this was the best possible scenario to launch this captivating new series," NBC Entertainment chairman Robert Greenblatt said.
"While it was originally developed for NBC, we have a very drama-heavy midseason schedule so we're thrilled about this Netflix opportunity; it’s an instant win-win for everyone, including Tina, Robert and Universal Television.
We’re already talking to these extraordinary creators about new development for NBC, but meanwhile, everyone here from Universal Television will do everything possible to see that Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt becomes a long-running hit on Netflix."

Another straight-to-series pickup is getting the ax.

ABC will not move forward with its Susannah Grant drama series Members Only, The Hollywood Reporter has learned. The cast was informed Saturday that the network did not want to move ahead with the series starring John Stamos and Breaking Bad's Betsy Brandt.
Originally picked up straight to series in January, American Hustle's David O. Russell and Erin Brockovich's Grant were attached to co-write and exec produce the 13-episode drama.

NBC Not Picking Up Back Nine Episodes of 'Constantine'

NBC is capping the first season of Constantine at thirteen episodes. Per Deadline, the network has opted not to pick up any additional episodes of the freshman drama. Though that is never a good sign for a show's longevity, NBC will allegedly consider renewing the show for a second season depending on the performance of its mid-season series. Friday's episode of Constantine garnered a 1.1 adults 18-49 rating, up from a 0.8 for the prior episode

Meanwhile, CSI: Cyber will launch in the time slot that housed CSI for three years until this fall, Wednesday 10 PM. The cyber crime drama will premiere on March 4, replacing Stalker. By then, the freshman drama will have aired 17 episodes of its 20-episode first season. It is unclear where and the remaining three will run.
