The Incubate 2014 line-up is vastly growing but we’re not quite done yet! Today, we’re revealing 31 new acts including Bombino with his meditative and earthy blues music. We're also adding the energetic krautrock-groove trio TRAAMS and Tweens bring some serious girl power on stage in the form of trashy garage pop, next to The Besnard Lakes (photo) with their mix of dream-pop and shoegaze. Aaron Dilloway introduces us to an ultra-grotesque world of psychedelic noise, constructed with sonic alchemy. But that’s far from all because we have more acts coming your way!
First we've got Bombino with his West African psychedelic blues and the soothing and reflective songwriting of Brazilian Rodrigo Amarante. Kevin Morby, who is the ex-bass player from Woods, takes Incubate on with his solo project. Talking about solo appearances: Daniel Calder, who is the frontman of indie/emo band The Lowest Standard will play an acoustic show.
Next is a special selection of cutting-edge Polish acts. Ranging from drones, jazz, noise- and post-rock, these bands will show what the Polish musical landscape has got to offer. Check out the kosmische folk by Stara Rzeka, the jazzy krautrock by Innercity Ensemble and the free jazz with electronics from Mikrokolektyw and Baaba. Kristen and Hokei are two bands that infuse math- and noise rock into their complex songwriting. Napszyklat augment their hip hop with glitchy electronics and noise. This project is cofinanced by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage of the Republic of Poland.
TRAAMS and their infectious blend of garage, krautrock and post-punk are making waves in the Dutch club- and festival circuit, like at the Best Kept Secret Festival where they performed a few days ago. You can also expect the rattling, lo-fi and noisy garage bands Snøffeltøffs, Mile Me Deaf, Fist City, Bad Vision, Fright Eye and Yung to get your fists pumping and your legs shaking.
The following three garage and rock 'n roll bands are presented in collaboration with Nightbirds, who host musical nights with exciting bands on a monthly basis at The Ladybird Skatepark in Spoorzone, Tilburg. Tweens bring some serious girl power on stage in the form of trashy garage pop, Protokids play popsongs in the tradition of '70s punk and Travel Check are stone cold party starters.
It's also possible to get lost in dreams and space with the following acts, like The Besnard Lakes, who's latest album Until in Excess, Imperceptible UFO was nominated for the 2013 Polaris Music Prize. After waking up from The Besnard Lakes's and Blouse's dream world, you can prepare yourself for some mind expanding psych-outs from Cave, Waiver and Klaus Johann Grobe.
And that's not all, because with noise acts Aaron Dilloway and Purging Light, and drone/ambient acts Arvind Ganga, Dotlights and Bear Bones, Lay Low you can enjoy the work of some producers who are ready to bring their overwhelming soundscapes and experimental guitar playing to Tilburg.
