Tuurlijk kan je die vraag stellen. Het antwoord is volgens je eigen bron alleen niet Fukushima.

Doet helaas weinig af aan het feit dat ze volgens mij nog steeds geen goed idee hebben hoe het er onder de reactoren uitziet. Ze kunnen er door de absurd hoge straling nauwelijks werken. Ook niet met robots. Een totale schoonmaak is nog ver weg.

Dat stuk van pensionado Turkenburg staat vol met aannames overigens. Hij lijkt niet veel meer feiten over de situatie daar te weten dan al bekend is.

Hell Hole on Earth Discovered at Fukushima

Most people think they have to die to go to hell but that is not true anymore. Today, in the mainstream press, they announced the existence of a hell hole in Japan at the destroyed nuclear power station at Fukushima. We have a hot spot on our planet that has never been imagined before and in the face of it human technology is helpless.

At the levels of radiation now being found a Fukushima, a robot would be able to operate for less than two hours before it was destroyed. And Japan’s National Institute of Radiological Sciences said medical professionals had never even thought about encountering this level of radiation in their work.

The accident is enormous in its medical implications. Through future years, too long to contemplate, we will witness an epidemic of cancer as people inhale the radioactive elements, eat radioactive vegetables, rice and meat, and drink radioactive milk and teas. Year by year, decade through relentless decade, the radiation will build up yet modern medicine does not seem concerned.

New readings at Fukushima have recorded the highest radiation levels seen since the triple core meltdown that occurred in 2011. Readings inside the containment vessel of reactor no. 2 are as high as 530 Sieverts per hour, a dosage that would be fatal dozens and dozens of times over if a human were to be exposed to it. The previous high was a still very fatal rate of 73 Sieverts per hour.

The blazing radiation reading was taken near the entrance to the space just below the pressure vessel, which contains the reactor core. The highest radiation levels ever measured at Chernobyl were 300 Sieverts per hour; an incomprehensibly high dose which can kill a man almost instantly.

The new record at Fukushima of 530 Sieverts per hour is 70% higher than that of Chernobyl. The 530 Sievert reading was recorded some distance from the melted fuel, so in reality it could be 10 times higher than recorded, said Hideyuki Ban, co-director of Citizens’ Nuclear Information Center.

To put this in perspective, radiation is usually measured in thousandths of a Sievert, called millisieverts. For example, most people receive around 2.4 millisieverts per year from background radiation, or only 0.0002739726 per hour.

According to the Kyodo news agency, the institute estimates that exposure to one Sievert of radiation could lead to infertility, loss of hair and cataracts. One Sievert is enough to cause radiation sickness and nausea; 5 Sieverts would kill half those exposed to it within a month, and a single dose of 10 Sieverts would prove fatal within weeks.

How Come We Do Not Hear More about Fukushima?

It was just recently said that, “It is not every day that a U.S. president calls journalists among the most dishonest human beings on earth.” This dishonesty is displayed in its full power with nuclear power issues and specifically with Fukushima where things are so bad it is basically prohibited to talk about it openly in the press. In fact, as I was reading the essays on Yahoo about the record amount of radiation the essays disappeared off the news summary list.

Most of this radiation is being washed out to sea and it is quite quickly destroying the Pacific Ocean and much of the life in it. We have no idea how much of the radiation is escaping into the atmosphere but we do know that during the first few weeks of the nuclear accident, because of the explosions, huge amounts of radiation were released into the atmosphere and it circled around the globe especially in the northern hemisphere.

There is no way for anyone to say that having a point of output of radiation of 530 Sieverts an hour is safe or how many decades it will take a radioactive output of this magnitude to badly pollute our precious world. None of this is good news for our children. Anyone who says nuclear power is safe is lying. Anyone who says nuclear radiation is not dangerous is lying.

Fukushima radiation so high a robot would be destroyed in two hours

Japan’s Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant, first commissioned in 1971, was one of the 15 largest nuclear power stations in the world, until it sustained massive damage when Japan was hit first by a magnitude 9.0 earthquake, and then a massive tsunami, on March 11, 2011.

Close to 16,000 people died in the disaster, with another 160,000 losing their homes and employment.

Japan has been involved in an extensive clean-up campaign ever since.

Now, an alarming report by the Tokyo Electric Power Co. (TEPCO), the company that operated the plant before its triple meltdown, would seem to indicate that the clean-up process is going to be even longer and more difficult than ever imagined.

TEPCO recently recorded the radiation levels near the core of reactor 2 (reactors 1 and 3 have not yet been assessed) using a remote-controlled camera and special radiation measurement device. Immediately following the disaster, levels of 73 sieverts per hour were measured. The latest measurement, however, indicates that those levels have reached as high as 530 sieverts per hour. At this level of exposure, a person would die after even brief exposure and a robot would be destroyed after only two hours. Even exposure to 1 sievert an hour could lead to infertility, loss of hair, and cataracts, according to The Japan Times. Exposure to anything over 100 sieverts magnifies the risk of cancer.

Two very disturbing facts have arisen out of this latest measurement: 1) The camera detected a three-foot-wide hole in the metal grate of the reactor’s primary containment vessel; and 2) Scientists like Azby Brown of Safecast, believe that these readings don’t necessarily indicate that levels have risen substantially; this is simply the first time they could be measured accurately.

And the measurements might not be all that accurate anyway. Experts say that since the readings had to be taken at a distance, the levels could be as much as 10 times higher.

While Hiroshi Miyano, a nuclear expert and visiting professor at Hosei University, says the results are “not something new to worry about,” other scientists have called them “shocking.”

Dat is best een plausibele verklaring inderdaad. Ze hebben nu daadwerkelijk een groot gat de grond in gezien en meten daar die absurd hoge straling. Ze zijn dus overduidelijk dichterbij de stralingsbron gekomen. Voor de omgeving maakt het allemaal niet heel veel uit want ze hebben de boel naar buiten toe redelijk afgeschermd maar het maakt de opruimklus wel een stuk moeilijker.

Het zit in de grond dus ja, het grondwater zal ook radioactieve deeltjes bevatten en zich verplaatsen. Ik ben ook geen nucliaire professor, maar ik heb me wel in de materie verdiept. En hoe meer ik leer, hoe meer ik besef dat je als 'leek' (waaronder ikzelf) eigenlijk totaal geen voorstelling van de situatie kunt maken. In veel artikelen wordt gegooid met stralingshoeveelheden die eigenlijk niet met elkaar te vergelijken zijn etc.

De reguliere media downplayen meestal, maar de alternatieve media overdrijven weer vaak (voor de pageviews).

En in Chernobyl was de sarcofaag direct nodig omdat zowel het dak van het gebouw als de deksel van het reactorvat af was geblazen door de explosie en de kern daardoor open en bloot lag (zie tekening). De reactor heeft daar van 26 april tot 10 mei 1986 in de open lucht in de fik gestaan! Zonder dit omhulsel zou de kern nu nog steeds open liggen.

De situatie is dus eigenlijk niet vergelijkbaar met Fukushima.

En op deze tekening zie je wat duidelijker waar ze precies die extreem hoge straling hebben gemeten eerder deze maand in Fukushima.. Dit was dus binnen in de centrale, direct naast de reactor.
