Messi received the LFP Trophy for the all-time top goal-scorer in La Liga
Lionel Messi's haul of trophies just keeps growing. This time, having beaten Telmo Zarra's record, tribute was paid to Leo Messi by the Liga de Ftbol Profesional with a trophy in recognition of him being the top goal-scorer in the history of La Liga.
The LFP has paid tribute to Messi for reaching the 253-goal mark in November last year, with the three he scored in the Snchez Pizjun; the hat-trick took him past Zarra's haul of 251, the previous record for the most goals scored in the Liga, which had stood since 1955.
The Camp Nou was the scene of latest achievement from the Argentinian, who has recorded countless individual records as a La Liga player:
- Three times top goal-scorer in the Liga BBVA (2010, 2012, 2013)
- Top goal-scorer in one Liga BBVA season (50 goals, 11/12 season)
- First player to score against every team in one La Liga season in consecutive matches (30 goals between matchday 11 and 29 in 2012/13)
- Scored the 5,000th goal of FC Barcelona's history (Racing Club - FC Barcelona, February 2009)

Messi is nu de eerste die zeven seizoenen op rij 20 doelpunten of meer maakte in de Spaanse competitie, dit record was zes seizoenen en in handen van Pusks (1958-59 t/m 1963-64).
Pusks kwam destijds tot 141 doelpunten in 154 wedstrijden, Messi scoorde er 233 in 219 wedstrijden (2008-09 t/m speelronde 20 in het huidige seizoen).

Lionel Messi speelde vanavond zijn 500ste wedstrijd in het FC Barcelona tenue in Camp Nou tegen Levante. Uiteraard weet je dan al met vrij grote zekerheid dat hij er drie gaat maken en waarschijnlijk ook nog een assist geeft. En zo geschiedde.
Na de 1-0 van Neymar op aangeven van Messi was het tijd voor de Messi show deel zoveel met drie doelpunten stond het 4-0 en maakte Surez nog even de 5-0 met een fraaie omhaal. Het was Lionel Messi's 33ste hattrick voor FC Barcelona waarvan 23 in de Spaanse competitie.
Messi komt hiermee inmiddels al op 14 doelpunten in 2015 en staat nu op 37 doelpunten in het huidige seizoen.
