London-based Left Bank Pictures is teaming with the UK’s Sky to adapt the Sky1 action series Strike Back (which airs on Cinemax in the U.S.) into a feature film, and in success a new franchise, EW.com reports.
The report comes on the day that Strike Back airs its penultimate episode Stateside.
Series leads Sullivan Stapleton and Philip Winchester — who currently front the freshman NBC dramas Blindspot and The Player, respectively — would likely star in the feature version, which potentially could film in 2016, in South America.

Strike Back is, well, striking back.
Cinemax and UK co-producer Sky have ordered a reboot of the action series, which ran on the U.S. network for five seasons with stars Sullivan Stapleton (Blindspot) and Philip Winchester (Chicago Justice), our sister site Deadline reports.
The new take will be headlined by Alin Sumarwata (Neighbours), Daniel MacPherson (The Shannara Chronicles), Roxanne McKee (Game of Thrones) and Warren Brown (Luther) as the Section program’s resurrected unit, which must track down a notorious terrorist following a brutal prison break. As the team journeys across the Middle East and Europe, they uncover a deadly conspiracy which threatens to overwhelm them all and change the face of modern warfare forever.
Characters details for the new recruits can be found below:
* Gracie Novin (Sumarwata): a gear-head who is looking to make the step up. She’s the heart and soul of the team.
* Samuel Wyatt (MacPherson): a bar-room philosopher who works best alone and has no intention of being dragged into a team situation.
* Natalie Roberts (McKee): she comes from a military family and excels at psychological profiles.
* Daniel “Mac” Macallister (Brown): a man of his word who is driven by a desire to avenge the team he’s lost.
Stapleton and Winchester are not currently expected to reprise their roles, but there is a possibility of guest spots in the future, per Deadline. Last October, it was reported that a feature film, likely starring the actors, was in the works, and could launch a new film franchise if successful.
Jack Lothian, a writer on the original Cinemax series, will serve as showrunner on the reboot.

Weet niet echt hoe ik me moet voelen bij de hoofdrol voor 2 vrouwen.Ik zeg niet dat ik er absoluut tegen ben, maar het voelt een beetje policor-Ghostbusters-maar-dan-met-vrouwen.quote:

Ik heb niks tegen vrouwen in een hoofdrol, maar bij een serie als Strike Back? In deze tijd is dat sowieso nog steeds wat onrealistisch, een vrouw als special forces operative.Ik hoop in ieder geval niet dat die typische mannenhumor en actie niet verloren gaat.
Ik hoop in ieder geval dat het tegendeel wordt bewezen, Strike Back is/was toch wel een van mijn favoriete series.
De vraag is of dat is wat er gaat komen. Als ik naar de namen kijk hebben we twee vrouwen en twee mannen op de lijst staan. Het is dus afwachten welke aspecten van het team door welke karakters ingevuld gaan worden. Zeker de omschrijving van Roberts ("excels at psychological profiles") klinkt meer als iemand die op de achtergrond of in de commandopost werkt dan iemand die steeds als eerste de deur in komt trappen.quote:

Scott and Stonebridge are striking back!
Former Strike Back front men Sullivan Stapleton and Philip Winchester — now of Blindspot and Law & Order: SVU — are set to reprise their roles as Sgts. Damien Scott and Michael Stonebridge during Season 5 of the action-drama, which is currently unspooling Friday nights on Cinemax.
Specifically, the series vets will make special guest appearances on Friday, March 30 and then in the season finale airing April 6.
Rebooted a bit for its latest run, Strike Back currently stars Warren Brown, Roxanne McKee, Daniel MacPherson and Alin Sumarwata.
