Gordon Ramsay to the rescue.
The network getting Kitchen Nightmares back on the air on Oct. 26, serving as a lead-in for 9 p.m.’s Fringe. With Fox struggling in the ratings on Fridays — X-Factor repeats currently fill the 8 p.m. slot — the move should help boost the night since Ramsay’s makeover show typically generates a relatively solid-ish number.
As part of this shakeup, the second season of Kiefer Sutherland’s Touch is getting pushed to January. Fox won’t yet say where on the schedule it will air. Meanwhile, Monday night’s The Mob Doctor continues to stay alive … for now.

Fox displayed its first sign of confidence in some of its freshman shows today by ordering more episodes of The Mindy Project and Ben & Kate.
The network ordered nine additional half-hours of Mindy and six more of Ben. Those are considered full-season orders for both Tuesday comedies.
“Ben and Kate and The Mindy Project have everything we want to stand for in comedy … smart writing, hugely appealing casts and comedy that feels contemporary and real … which is why we’re confident they will continue to build on what is already an appointment comedy night for young, influential audiences on Tuesdays,” said Entertainment Chairman Kevin Reilly in a statement.
Season to date, Fox says Mindy is the No. 1 new comedy among adults 18-34. It stars Mindy Kaling as an OB/GYN trying to balance both her personal and professional life. Kate follows a pair of odd-couple siblings.

quote:'Community,' 'Whitney' premieres delayed
Cancel your plans to cancel your plans for Friday, Oct. 19: NBC has decided to delay the season 4 premiere of Community. The season 2 debut of Whitney, which is also scheduled for that Friday night, will be postponed as well. The network has not indicated new return dates for the two comedies.
Network insiders say that the delay will allow it to put more marketing muscle behind the shows, as resources have been focused on promoting new series that air elsewhere in the week. And depending on the performance of its other comedies in coming weeks, NBC could very well decide to move Community and/or Whitney to a different (and more desirable) night.
Here is NBC’s statement: “Given the success we’ve had for the past four weeks – including winning the first week of the season in A18-49 — we’ve decided to continue to concentrate our promotional strength on our new NBC shows that are scheduled Monday through Wednesday and have therefore decided to hold Community and Whitney from their previously announced premieres of October 19th. Without having to launch these comedies on Friday at this time, we can keep our promotion focused on earlier in the week — plus we will have both comedies in our back pocket if we need to make any schedule changes on those nights. When we have a better idea of viewing patterns in the next few weeks, we will announce new season premieres of Whitney and Community.”

quote:'Louie' season 4 will be delayed until 2014
Count us among the comedy nerds who are really bummed out this week: First, NBC announced that season 4 of Community will be delayed, and now Louis C.K. says his FX show Louie will take an extended hiatus until the spring of 2014, when it will return for its fourth season.
During a conference call with reporters today, the comedian said that the decision to take a break was his own. “The last three seasons have been this surge of fun and work and stories and it’s been great, but I want the show to keep getting better,” he said. “That’s my goal, and I don’t want it to be making the donuts, I want it to be something that comes from somewhere important and stays funny.”
It’s been an especially busy year for C.K. In addition to writing, producing, and starring in Louie, getting invited to the White House, winning this year’s Emmy for comedy writing, and selling Tig Notaro’s comedy album on his web site, he’s also touring nonstop through February 2013, which may have also prompted him to take this hiatus. In June, C.K. told EW that most of his income comes from stand-up. “I’m going to make a s–load of money on the road,” he said. “I make fine money on the show, but the road is a hell of a lot more.” (His most recent tour sold $4.5 million in tickets, over just two days.)
He also believes that his reputation as a stand-up comedian has earned him more creative freedom on television. “I always looked at Woody Allen as a great guide: [He] had his own voice that was sought after because of his stand-up,” he explained. “And because of his stand-up, when he wanted to do something this way, they would let him do it.” FX certainly seems to be willing to let him experiment. We’re anxious to see how the show changes after two years.

quote:'Made In Jersey' cancelled
Somewhere, The Mob Doctor is smiling.
CBS is pulling Friday night legal drama Made In Jersey from its schedule after only two episodes. That makes Jersey the first cancelled TV show of the fall. Undercover Boss will join CBS’ Friday night lineup starting Nov. 2, with CSI: NY advancing to 9 p.m. Until then, repeats of NCIS and Hawaii Five-0 will help fill the night.
Made in Jersey debuted to weak reviews and low ratings, premiering to 7.7 million viewers and a very slight 1.1 rating among adults 18-49. Last week, the Janet Montgomery drama dropped to 5.8 million viewers and a 0.8 rating. Undercover Boss has proven to be a solid Friday performer and having the reality show in the 8 p.m. slot should help CBS’ surviving dramas on the night.
CBS’ other new dramas Vegas and Elementary are considered likely to get full-season orders later this week. No clear sense yet of the fate of new comedy Partners.
Most predicted Fox’s The Mob Doctor would be the first cancelled drama (including us). But there’s a rumor going around that Fox has quietly decided to air all 13 episodes. Fox hasn’t confirmed this, however. With Fox’s baseball coverage and a presidential debate pre-empting Mob Doc in the short term, we’ll just have to wait and see.
