AMC has cancelled The Killing after two seasons, but the rainy murder mystery could live on at another network.
Statement from the network: “After much deliberation, we’ve come to the difficult decision not to renew The Killing for a third season. AMC is incredibly proud of the show and is fortunate to have worked with such a talented team on this project, from showrunner Veena Sud and our terrific partners at Fox Television Studios to the talented, dedicated crew and exceptional cast.”
Fox Television Studios quickly sent out a statement saying the studio plans to shop the drama series to other networks: “Fox Television Studios is extremely proud of The Killing, the extraordinary writing staff and crew, and what we believe is one of the best casts on television. We will proceed to try to find another home for the show.”
The Killing has been one of AMC’s few missteps in an otherwise remarkable plunge into scripted television during the last several years. The show premiered last year to 2.7 million viewers and plenty of fan and critic excitement. But in a move that will likely be used as a real-time lesson in serialized series management for years to come, AMC and Sud managed to infuriating fans by declining to solve a mystery that viewers felt they had been led to believe would be cleared up by the end of the first season.
When season two debuted in April, ratings dropped 33 percent to 1.8 million viewers. The audience continued to ebb until the finale, which garnered 1.4 million viewers and finally revealed who killed teen murder victim Rosie Larsen. With the ratings showing a clear downward trajectory, and having established across two seasons that the Larsen murder is the driving force of the show, cancellation seemed very likely. The lesson? Don’t take viewers for granted.

At Saturday morning's FX TCA session it was announced the Louie would be renewed for a fourth season and that Russell Brand's late night show 'Brand X' would get an additional 7 episodes that will run this fall.

Ik ben erg benieuwd of er een 7e seizoen van Army Wives komt. Een van de hoofdrol speelsters ging begin van dit seizoen weg, een ander heb ik al een paar afleveringen niet gezien. En na de laatste ep was te horen: "just 4 more weeks before it all ends". Dat kan natuurlijk ook duiden op het einde van het seizoen maar ik vind het maar verdacht.

Weet niet of dit het juiste topic is om mijn vraag te stellen, maar misschien zitten hier mensen die het antwoord wel weten 
Is er een speciale reden waarom Nederlandse zenders alsnog series gaan uitzenden die maar één seizoen hebben? Bij net 5 heb je Pan Am, Good Christian Bitches en dit najaar dus ook Ringer. Op een andere zender zenden ze nu ook Terra Nova uit. Is dit goedkoper ofzo? Lijkt me erg frustrerend voor het Nederlandse publiek.

Ik las een half jaar geleden iets dat net5 Revenge wou gaan uitzenden...dat hadden ze dus gewoon moeten doen! Die serie past perfect op die zender. En ipv dat ze andere langlopende series fatsoenlijk uitzenden, doen ze dat ook niet. Dan stoppen ze opeens plots, of ze proppen het op een ongunstig tijdstip, of ze zenden alleen nog maar herhalingen uit. One Tree Hill is nooit verder gekomen dan eind seizoen 6 ; terwijl seizoen 2 en 3 wel talloze malen herhaald zijn bv. Maar nu ga ik ratelen over net5, beetje offtopic

Ze weten toch van zichzelf dat ze geen langlopende series kunnen uitzenden want dan maken ze er een warboel van. Dan vlucht sowieso het hele publiek naar internet En misschien juist door het internet zenden ze korte series uit. Dat publiek kunnen ze nog vasthouden voor een bepaalde tijd. Met langer lopende series wordt dat moeilijker en gaan mensen algauw dingen downloaden omdat ze alles snel achter elkaar willen zien.
Tja, ze kunnen het wel. Hebben ze bewezen met Grey's Anatomy, Desperate Housewives, Private Practice, Good Wife, en The Closer enzo. Maar al die series stoppen binnen een paar jaar zeker wel..of zijn al gestopt

Het rare uitzendschema van de NL zenders is deels ook te wijten aan het onregelmatige schema van Amerikaanse zenders. Die gooien regelmatig een of een paar weken tussen afleveringen.
Dan moeten ze hier dus of een stuk achter lopen, of tussendoor ineens gaan herhalen.

“We set a very high ratings bar that included some additional hurdles for Anger Management to earn its back-90 order and the series met and exceed those metrics,” said Saftler. “Bruce Helford has created a sitcom that works extremely well in our pre-10 p.m. programming lineup. Charlie Sheen and the entire cast did an amazing job in the first ten episodes, which were produced in a very tight window. I have no doubt that the producers and cast will be able to pull off the Herculean task of producing 90 episodes over the next two years.”

Nederlandse zenders kopen bijna altijd pakketten met series. Dat betekent meestal dat ze naast grote series die al een aantal seizoenen hebben ook series 'moeten' kopen die het minder lang zullen overleven. En als je het dan toch moet kopen, is het zonde om het op de planken te laten liggen toch?quote:

Ja ik had al zo'n antwoord gekregen in het Ringer-topic. Er worden inderdaad pakketten gekocht en dan krijg je die eenseizoensseries erbij jaquote:

Voor veel Nederlanders maakt het daarbij weinig uit. De mensen die echt fanatiek series volgen die kijken het toch wel mee met het Amerikaanse schema. En de Nederlanders die daadwerkelijk series op NL tv kijken...houden niet vaak bij of die serie al gecancelled is in Amerika of iets dergelijks. Toen ik net begon met series kijken had ik geen idee hoe dat allemaal werkte. Ik keek programma's op Net5, en wist pas dat ze doorgingen nadat ik weer een promo zag van nieuwe afleveringen. Geen idee hoe het zat met seizoenen e.d. Dat is pas later gekomen. En dat zal nog steeds bij veel mensen zijn. Die zetten het gewoon op als tijdsverdrijf of iets dergelijks.

Covert Affairs’ third season continues Tuesday, Oct. 16 at 10/9c and wraps in November. White Collar‘s Season 4 continues in January. Royal Pains’ two-hour winter movie, “Off-Season Greetings,” is scheduled to air Sunday, Dec. 16 at 9/8c.

Ik denk dat het ook het laatste seizoen is voor Hawaii Five-O , maar er moeten even wat meer mensen kijken ernaar , een hele goede serie .

Ik denk niet ABC's Last Resort het dit seizoen gaat redden. Het slot op donderdag om 8 uur is misschien dan ook wel één van de zwaarste uren die je kan krijgen en als je begint met een 2.2 rating dan zal dat ik niet genoeg zijn voor zo'n dure actie/drama serie op het langere termijn. Zonde.
FOX gaat het denk ik over de gehele linie zwaar krijgen, op geen enkele dag weten ze eruit te springen met gescripte series en de vrijdag zal zoals gewoonlijk geen uitzondering zijn. Ze gaan dan ook meer de kant op van NBC die eigenlijk ook met alles maar matig scoort, op uitzondering van Revolution momenteel. Het is nu koffiedik kijken welke ratings ze acceptabel vinden.

TNT Adds Third Season of Franklin & Bash to Docket
TNT has ordered the hit legal series Franklin & Bash back to court for a third season. Starring Breckin Meyer and Mark-Paul Gosselaar, Franklin & Bash averaged 4.3 million viewers in its new Tuesday 10 p.m. (ET/PT) timeslot, up 10% over its first season. The buddy drama also averaged 1.8 million adults 18-49 and 2.0 million adults 25-54.

Revolution is tot nu toe ook leuk, het is jammer dat de kwaliteit die NBC brengt ze nog maar zo weinig oplevert. Ik hoop dat ze aan hun filosofie vasthouden, maar het zou niet erg slim van ze zijnquote:
Ik denk niet ABC's Last Resort het dit seizoen gaat redden. Het slot op donderdag om 8 uur is misschien dan ook wel één van de zwaarste uren die je kan krijgen en als je begint met een 2.2 rating dan zal dat ik niet genoeg zijn voor zo'n dure actie/drama serie op het langere termijn. Zonde.
FOX gaat het denk ik over de gehele linie zwaar krijgen, op geen enkele dag weten ze eruit te springen met gescripte series en de vrijdag zal zoals gewoonlijk geen uitzondering zijn. Ze gaan dan ook meer de kant op van NBC die eigenlijk ook met alles maar matig scoort, op uitzondering van Revolution momenteel. Het is nu koffiedik kijken welke ratings ze acceptabel vinden.

Revolution vond ik niks aan. Last Resort daarentegen wel erg goed. Maar de kijkcijfers zijn niet hoopgevend. Matcht totaal ook niet met series als Grey's en Scandal op dezelfde avond. Ben benieuwd wat er de komende weken gebeurt.
