More trouble for fighter after Obama comments
Jacob Volkmann has found himself paying the price for his comments once again.
The lightweight, who defeated Efrain Escudero via unanimous decision at UFC 141 last month, used nearly the entirety of his post-fight interview with Joe Rogan to send a message to President Barack Obama in the form of a joke – which came as a surprise to no one.
"A glassectomy is when you cut your belly button out and put a piece of glass in there so when you have your head up your butt you can see where you're going," Volkmann told Rogan after the win. Rogan, like nearly most in attendance, didn't respond well to the joke, though Volkmann seemed content with the statement he was trying to make.
This time, Volkmann was not visited by the Secret Service, like he was after his original Obama comments, which consisted of him challenging the president to an MMA fight. But he does find himself paying the price.
Following the comment, the White Bear (Minn.) School District put Volkmann on administrative leave from his gig as a wrestling coach. The Minnesota native went to his Twitter account to deliver the news, simply ending the message with the word "Unethical!"

Dana White: Rashad Evans Wins and Remains Injury Free, He Gets Bones Jones Next
When Rashad Evans faces Phil Davis on Jan 28 in Chicago, he will control his own destiny and his goal of facing former friend and training partner Jon ‘Bones’ Jones next.
Speculation began to swirl last week after UFC President Dana White said in an interview that Jones was already done with his vacation and looking to get back in action sooner rather than later.
He mentioned that Jones could potentially face former Strikeforce light heavyweight champion Dan Henderson next, with most pointing at the UFC 145 card in Montreal as a possible landing spot.
While anything is still possible, on Tuesday when speaking with the Jim Rome Show, White says that Jones is indeed ready to get back in the cage, but if Evans can win on Jan 28 and come out unscathed, he’ll get his chance to face the champion.
“We’re working on it now. We’re going to obviously see what happens in this Rashad (Evans) fight at the end of the month. The next fight on Fox, Rashad is fighting (Phil) Davis, so we’ll see what happens there,” White said on Tuesday.
“If Rashad wins, if Rashad comes out injury free, we’ll get the Jon ‘Bones’ Jones/Rashad Evans fight going.”
That’s obviously good news for Evans, who had to be curious what the next course of action would be should he defeat Phil Davis on Jan 28 in Chicago.
Evans was always assured of a title shot with a win, but now that Jones is ready to return and the UFC 145 card in Montreal needs a main event, it just seemed to make sense to put the UFC light heavyweight champion at the top of that card.
As for Dan Henderson, he may have just become the biggest Phil Davis fan in the sport, because if Davis upsets Evans, then the long time UFC and former Pride fighter will most likely get the next shot at Jones.
The UFC on Fox 2 main event will tell the tale however. If Evans wins and comes out injury free, he may finally get his chance to settle the score with Jon Jones in the Octagon.

Erik Koch doet het heel aardig in de UFC nu, en heeft alleen van Mendes verloren. Yahya heeft een win over Mike Brown (wel short notice) en Eddie Wineland, en Omigawa heeft een naam, maar niet veel gepresteerd. Het zijn solide wins (vooral over Koch), maar inderdaad niets wat hem in mijn ogen een echte bedreiging voor Aldo maakt.quote:

Ik ben het wel met je eens dat Mendes de title shot verdiend heeft. En qua style matchup heeft hij nog best een kans. Maar ik heb er gewoon moeite mee om hem als meer dan een Faber understudy te zien. Goed, maar Aldo is beter.
