Die is 100% nep... onbegrijpelijk waarom zoveel mensen dat geretweet hebben Twitter is een fijn medium maar dit soort baggeraars moeten ze d'r gelijk vanaf tyfen

Ik zie trouwens geen foto's/video's uit bijv NoordAmerika/Alaska.
Was het daar niet zichtbaar of is dat sowieso al zelden?

For a Fairbanks crew of self-described "Aurora Chasers," Tuesday night's predicted aurora was akin to a Christmas present from the solar system.

Ronn Murray, a sleep-deprived Fairbanks photographer and new dad to a 3-week-old son, planned to spend the night outside in -25 degree temperatures.

The University of Alaska Fairbanks Geophysical Institute predicted "highly active" aurora displays visible over many parts of Alaska, from Barrow to Ketchikan, for Tuesday night. The display is expected to taper off Wednesday and Thursday.

"I've been chasing for five years," Murray said. "And this is the best I've ever seen."

During long nights of photographing auroras, the lights are occasionally overwhelming enough to get Murray to stop clicking the camera.

Volgens mij is hij niet nep. Hij is iig niet van nu omdat hij al op Flickr gepost is in 2010 (en ook op andere website), en waarschijnlijk is het ook niet op Texel geschoten Maar echt nep als in photoshop niet. Het is alleen volgens mij geen noorderlicht maar een zogenaamde parelmoer wolk.

Hier net wel enkele minuten een rode gloed in de lucht, de woonkamer was ook redelijk rood. Nu is het weggetrokken iemand die weet of die het poollicht kan zijn geweest?

Ja inderdaad, dat bedoelde ik ook. Dat het geen foto vanaf Texel was van afgelopen nacht.

The cloud is not heading toward Earth, at least not directly. This and future eruptions from AR1402 are unlikely to be geoeffective as the sunspot is turning away from our planet. By week's end it will be on the far side of the sun, blasting its CMEs toward planets on the opposite side of the solar system.

De zondag uit 1402 ontstane plasmawolk is dinsdag zoals verwacht met het magnetisch veld van onze planeet gebotst. Terwijl op meerdere plaatsen ter wereld en vanuit het Internationaal Ruimtestation ISS prachtig poollicht te zien was, bleef België ervan verstoken. (belga/adb)

That was a coronagraph image from the Solar and Heliospheric Observatory (SOHO). The many speckles and streaks are energetic protons striking SOHO's onboard digital camera. Stronger radiation storms (S4 to S5) can fill images like these with "snow," rendering them useless for normal operations. The current storm will probably subside later today and restore SOHO's clear view of the sun.

Hm, ja die smileys komen nu pas door :p Dat was, zoals ze het zo mooi kunnen zeggen, een knee-jerk reactie van mij...

In Engleland heet dat blad overigens niet voor niets in het dagelijkse leven de Daily Fail.

Het DailyMail artikel doet de ronde door denial echokamer, zonder enige kritische kanttekening (dat hoort erbij).

De UK MetOffice is daarentegen niet zo blij met de door Rose verdraaide weergave van de hun onderzoeksresultaten.

Ook daar zijn de feiten niet juist

David Rose heeft overigens al een redelijke reputatie als serie-verdraaier opgebouwd. Hij past wat dat betreft goed bij een tabloid als de Daily Fail.
