Kovalainen wordt nu genoemd als mogelijke vervanger van Grosjean bij Lotus

The highly rated Finn Kovalainen is on the market because Caterham is reportedly considering signing the pay-driver Giedo van der Garde.

However, MTV acknowledged that Frenchman Grosjean, despite Lotus' deliberations and the 26-year-old's numerous incidents in 2012, is "more likely" than Kovalainen to line up alongside Kimi Raikkonen next season.

But Germany's authoritative Auto Motor und Sport said there is truth behind reports Lotus is seriously considering ousting Grosjean.

"Many suspect that Gerard Lopez will persuade Grosjean's sponsor Total to spend more money," read the report by correspondents Tobias Grunen and Michael Schmidt.

"But even Total has a problem with this protege. The French oil company has a safety campaign for public roads, and the face of a 'crash driver' doesn't fit."

Geruchten: Alguersuari maakt hier na het vertrek van Hulkenberg een goede kans. Ook worden Adrian Sutil en Sebastien Buemi genoemd als mogelijke rijders. verder worden nog diverse andere coureurs genoemd zoals Jules Bianchi, Luis Razia, Davide Valsechhi, Bruno Senna, Heiki Kovalainen en zelfs Rubens Barrichello en Jacques Villeneuve. Mallya heeft al aangegeven dat de coureur geen pay-driver of ex-F1 coureur wordt, dus een van de eerste drie genoemde coureurs lijkt aannemelijk.

Geruchten: Giedo van der Garde wordt genoemd als belangrijkste kanshebber, maar nu Caterham weer 10de is in het kampioenschap, zou het kunnen dat of Kovalainen of Petrov aanblijft. Ecclestone wil Petrov graag behouden vanwege de Grand Prix in Sotsji in 2014. Ook Luis Razia, Bruno Senna en zelfs Rubens Barrichello worden genoemd.

Geruchten: De verwachting is dat Max Chilton dankzij het geld van Aon volgend jaar in de tweede Marussia zal plaatsnemen, al is ook Luis Razia in gesprek met dit team.

Petrov schijnt weer de belangrijkste kandidaat bij te zijn bij Caterham, nu hij weer zo'n 12 miljoen dollar aan sponsorgeld heeft (en Caterham 10 miljoen dollar meer prijzengeld bracht dankzij zijn 11de plaats in Brazilië.

Maar ook Ma Quingha schijnt in de running te zijn (hij is in gesprek met zowel Caterham als Marussia),

Marussia heeft waarschijnlijk 10 miljoen dollar extra nodig omdat ze nog geen geen Concorde Agreement deal hebben. Vorig jaar kregen ze nog 10 miljoen dollar als Column 3 team, maar het lijkt erop dat dit komt te vervallen nu Marussia het enige Column 3 team is

Force India is set to announce the identity of Paul di Resta's 2013 teammate.

The Indian news service IANS said that although the official announcement has been delayed, the Vijay Mallya-led team is finally almost ready now to make the call.

"The announcement should take place next week," a 'top source' at the Silverstone based team was quoted saying late last week.

"Adrian (Sutil) looks the best bet to partner di Resta as he has got the required experience in formula one. At the same time, Mr Mallya also considered all other available options," the unnamed source added.

It is believed the others under consideration are Kamui Kobayashi, who has been raising funds through a fan website, and the sponsored Brazilian Bruno Senna.

The source said Force India's Ferrari-linked 2012 reserve driver Jules Bianchi is not experienced enough to seriously compete with German Sutil for the seat.

As for Force India's existing 2012 driver di Resta, the source commented: "He was always expected to carry on. He has delivered so far and it makes sense to retain him."

Earlier, it was expected the Silverstone based team's former race driver Adrian Sutil was the favourite to replace the Sauber-bound Nico Hulkenberg in 2013.

But Finland's Turun Sanomat newspaper said the new favourite is 2012 Force India reserve Bianchi, a 23-year-old rookie who is backed by Ferrari and managed by Felipe Massa's manager, Nicolas Todt, the son of FIA president Jean.

"The announcement is expected before Christmas," said correspondent Heikki Kulta.

Kulta added that Force India's reportedly likely switch from Mercedes to Ferrari engine power for the 2014 V6 regulations was "a decisive factor" in Bianchi's favour.
