Het viel mij op na het zien van Countdown to UFC 133 en ook in de rustpauzes bij Tito's wedstrijd dat zijn boxing trainer bijna precies op Jesse Pinkman leek en klonk.

Dana White saves the day

Considering the first five preliminary bouts on the card went to the judges’ scorecards, White had plenty of time on his hands to peruse his Twitter account for messages. One fan who was already inside the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania notified White that the UFC’s lighting equipment was severely obstructing their view:

Fan: @danawhite damn bro this is absolutely crazy!!!!! I cant thank you enough man..Def made it worth the drive from long island lmao! they moved us to better seats where it wasnt too close or too far that we had to look up at the monitor. #insane. guys a #boss.

However, White’s ticket-wielding ways didn’t stop there. Another couple had their passes stolen prior to entry and sent out a desperate plea for help:

@danawhite is the man. He turned a very bad day into an amazing night for us!

Matt Hamill RETIRES

Today is a sad day for me. After six years and 13 fights in the UFC I’m ready to hang up my gloves and retire from this amazing sport.

The UFC has been extremely good to me and given me an opportunity to make a great living. That exposure has allowed me options outside the Octagon as well. I just don’t have it in me to fight anymore and my last two performances have shown that.

I was ready to make this decision after UFC 130 but my friends, family coaches and most importantly my daughter encouraged me to give it one last chance. My career has been plagued by injuries starting with The Ultimate Fighter and disrupted my training ever since.

There hasn’t been even one training camp where I’ve been able to train without training around an injury. I have not been kind to my body and it has nothing left after 28 years of non stop competition. It’s time to finally give it a rest.

I can’t continue to fight without having the hunger and desire to do so. I can’t let my performances reflect on my coaches who are the best in the world and the reason I’ve made it this far.

I have fallen in love with the sport of Mixed Martial Arts and I will continue to coach at our gym Mohawk Valley MMA along side my teammates and help the next generation of fighters make it to the UFC. I also look forward to continuing my business ventures outside the UFC including “Hamill” the movie based on my life story set to be released this fall.

I want to thank Dana White, Joe Silva Lorenzo Fertitta and everyone at the UFC for the opportunity to make something special out of my life.

Thank you to Duff, Holmes, Bruno Tostes, Dave Kingwater, Renzo Gracie, Tim Greene, Daniel Gracie, Pat Popolizio, Ron Gross, Doug Blubaugh and Mark Dellagrotte.

Thank you to all my training partners who have shared their blood sweat and tears with me along the way. Thank you to all my friends and family for their unconditional support and most of all thank you to my fans! It’s the fans that have made this the truly special experience it has been.

Maar zat er aan te komen

Matt Hamill was een redelijke goede MMA fighter die in zijn persoonlijke leven heel veel tegenslag
heeft overwonnen, maar ik denk dat het nooit een écht 'fighter' is geweest.

Hamill is na zijn loss uit de top 15 gevallen (wat mij betreft) en beter wordt het er niet op.

Er komen steeds meer nieuwe/jongere gasten die hem voorbij zullen gaan.

Groot respect voor de man zowel in als buiten de cage.

De vijftiende mag Dan Hardy ook weer aan de bak, hopelijk bakt hij er iets van want anders zou hij ook weleens in de vergetelheid kunnen raken..

Ik ben er van overtuigd dat Hardy Lytle pakt

Hardy is een vechter van wie ik het jammer zou vinden als ik hem niet meer in de ufc zou zien. Hij moet gewoon de W pakken.

Barry mag dan niet geweldig op de grond zijn maar hij is echt niet zo makkelijk op de grond te krijgen door Struve en ik denk dat hij genoeg heeft geleerd om niet gesubmit te worden, zolang Struve bij Team Schreiber zit en niet in de VS traint bij een goede gym gaat het gewoon niets worden, althans niets meer dan een bijrol. Jorge Rivera will not retire after all
UFC middleweight Jorge Rivera was facing quite the dilemma entering UFC 133 - if he lost, was he done with the sport of MMA? At 39 years old, no one would blame him if he was. He's had a long and fulfilling career that has included 14 fights in the octagon. It turned out that he came up short and dropped a decision to Constantinos Philippou, but it appears that Rivera will press on with his MMA career anyway according to MMA Junkie:
