Minder grote namen hoeft helemaal geen probleem te zijn. De naam van Roadburn is zo gevestigd dat de mensen wel komen, die kaarten raken wel verkocht. Ik vind het belangrijker dat Roadburn geen "corperate" event gaat worden, dat zou de sfeer aantasten.

Denk ook niet dat dat snel gebeurd, als het aan Walter en Jurgen ligt.
En ja, ik vind het prima als er ook wat meer kleine bandjes zijn, die ik misschien nu nog niet ken, maar na Roadburn wel.

The Keys van Fire Inside heeft een nieuw album uit.

The opening track ‘Bitten By Wolves’ is a dreamy melody wrapped round a twangy almost melancholy guitar riffs and layered with soft vocals. It seems like a slow start however, as the album progresses it picks up pace with ‘Everyone Loves You’ ,a gritty classic rock track with a riff taken straight from Hendrix’s songbook. The track is also a perfect example of the albums analogue studio recording giving the song and the album an unpolished ,authentic sound which is lacking in much of today‘s music.

The analogue sound is also clear on the refreshingly upbeat number ‘Teachers Daughter’ which marks the middle of the album .With Equal parts pop and rock with dirty guitar and jangly tambourines driving the percussion ,the track is certainly reminiscent of The Coral but also of pop music before the age of computer software and auto-tune. As the album comes close to its finale it begins to sober up again with ‘When You’re Young’, a more sedate track with a wistful melody and gentle percussion waltzing with Matthew Evans obviously welsh- accented vocals .However this track only provides a false sense of security as the following track ‘Heads of The Valleys’ is a dramatic, pulsing track pushed on by haunting vocals creating a sense that there is something not quite right in the valley. The album closes with ‘I Just Can’t Convince Myself’ a slow burning acoustic track channelling the vocals of fellow Welshman Gruff Rhys. Whether you prefer more tender melodies or fuzzier rock riffs this album will not disappoint fans of good music.

Ik vind hem weer erg goed, check vooral het nummer Everyone Loves You.

Ik heb er eigenlijk wel het volste vertrouwen in dat het wel goed zit met de line up.

Die staan ergens in october nog in DB's te Utrecht. Gaat hem voor mij wel worden.

Ik heb ze bij Roadburn nog gezien, dus ik weet het niet.
Ook is de OV verbinding tussen Breda en Utrecht nou niet bepaald geweldig, dus daar zit ik ook niet op te wachten.
Maar het lijkt me wel tof!

Moet eens kijken of ik naar DB's ga.

Oh, da's doordeweeks zie ik nu.
Misschien dat dat makkelijker gaat, het lijkt me wel dat de verbinding tussen Eindhoven en Utrecht iets beter is

Daarnaast spelen ze ook de dag erna ik de W2 in Den Bosch, dus da's ook een optie.

Gisteren My Brother the Wind ~ Twilight in the Crystal Cabinet opgepik. Album moet ik nog een goede luisterbeurt geven maar er staan een stel hele mooie spacey jams op.

Roadburn is elated to announce the curator for the 17th edition of the festival: Voivod. After the band’s widely acclaimed and artistically inspiring performances at the 2011 festival, Voivod has agreed to curate our festival on Friday, April 13, 2012.

As curator, Voivod will personally select the bands that will play during their special event at Roadburn and perform a special headline show. We had a revelation this year: namely, that Voivod and Roadburn are not only kindred spirits musically and artistically, but also on the same wavelength in other ways, too. Voivod personifies the laidback Roadburn vibe. Respected by fans and bands that span the festival’s sonic spectrum,

Voivod is the ideal pick as Roadburn’s fifth curator. The band will carry on a tradition that began in 2008 with David Tibet, followed by Neurosis in 2009, Triptykon’s Tom Gabriel Warrior in 2010 and Sunn 0))) aka Greg Anderson and Stephen O’Malley at this year’s festival. After Voivod agreed to curate the Friday, we could not resist asking them to stay for a second show. It’s on! The band will appear on Saturday, April 14, 2012, too.

We will make sure that the whole spectrum of experimental music influential to Voivod is represented.Thanks to the Roadburn folks for inviting us, we’re already counting the days in anticipation of the event !!”

We are overjoyed to join forces with Voivod for the upcoming Roadburn Festival. The band’s take on thrash metal, hardcore, prog rock, avant-garde and punk has been honed to perfection for almost three decades. Captured in various stages and formations on more than 13 albums, including the legendary Killing Technology, Dimension Hatröss and Nothingface trilogy, the chilling Phobos and 2003′s high energy self-titled release, what began as a desire to do their own thing is now recognized as groundbreaking. The band has strongly influenced scores of musicians practicing the kind of sonic alchemy that defies simple tags like “heavy metal” or “psychedelic.”

We are truly looking forward to the new ideas and visions that Voivod will bring to the festival next year. If asked to sum up Roadburn in one word, “progressive” would be a fitting choice. Maar Voivod als curator, tof! Ben erg benieuwd met wat voor bands ze gaan komen.

Hmm voivod als curator ik weet niet wat dat gaat worden, hopelijk niet teveel de thrash kant op maar we zullen zien, ik denk dat het sowieso wel goed komt

Ik gok zo dat er vooral veel jaren 80 heavy en prog dingen met Voivod meekomt. Ik heb het idee van RB als stonerfestival toch al laten varen, al hoop in natuurlijk op veel psychedelisch spul.

Ik ben nog niet heel enthousiast, maar dat zal met de volgende namen vast wel goedkomen.

Ben alleen niet zo van de thrash, dus hopelijk krijgen we daar niet te veel van...

Al zou 1 dag niet zo interessant als de rest wel gave bands heeft maakt die ene dag toch ook niet uit. Bovendien zal de programmering van het MIDI door Roadburn zelf gedaan worden.
